Sorry we’re late but I just rolled in from the David Mann Memorial Run and Show at the Ventura County Fairgrounds in Ventura, California. It was old home week at the fairgrounds. I ran into folks I hadn’t seen in decades. Even the women were given me the buzz. What a wild time.
The Show bikes were classics mixed with a few billet jobs. Dave Perewitz and Donnie Smith mixed with Tom Foster, Paul Wheeler and LA Chop Rods. Don Whalen and Richard Bunch hauled a selection of fantastic antique Crockers, Harleys and Indians. Layla took the shots and we’ll post them shortly.
I was buzzed to see the exhibit of David Mann art that ranged from the ’60s to Dave’s death. He documented this entire sordid lifestyle from club stuff to billet bikes cruising Main Street in Daytona. They’re will never be another artist like him, except maybe Tim Conder. Let’s hit the news. Christine Vaughn Bikernet Children’s Alert I don’t know if you noticed the report from UNISEF this month but I found it really shocking. It stated that over half the children on the planet are starving, dying from disease or completely abandoned because of war, aids, or other conditions. For a little over six years, i have been involved with Children International as a child sponsor. I have even personally gone and checked up on my children, so I know this is a good outfit. 86 cents on the dollar goes directly to the kids. I knew there were lots of kids in peril but until this week had no idea it was more than half the kids on the planet. I never really asked others to consider giving to this group, but since hearing this disturbing news have decided to ask (one time) everyone to seriously think about getting hold of Children International. For as little as 144 dollars a year you could change a life.
