BIKERNET SUNDAY POST – PRE-LAUGHLIN RUSH

rfr cutie

Hey,

It’s Sunday Madness. I’m not as far as long on the Sturgis Chop as I need to be. I scrambled yesterday, and made serious headway. I finish welding the fender rails, drilled holes for wires, finished the front fender and polished it, sanded and polished the tank and began to tear down the bike and organized the fasteners in zip-lock bags.

I need to completely tear down the bike, finish the bracket welding and grind all the welds, drill holes for wiring and haul the lot off to a Powder Coater next week.

Last night while we ducked out of the shop for dinner with the master of antique motorcycles stateside, Don Whalen and his wife Lynn, Markus Cuff prepared for his Pruno gang apparel shoot, by spending the night at the Arrowhead Pond shooting shots of Velvet Revolver tearing up the stage.

Do you know what Pruno is? It’s jailhouse hooch and I researched it for this article on a bunch of crazed Pedro firemen who started a motorcycle company. Let’s hit the news and I’ll tell you about the girls later in the evening:

Viper Powersports Completes Merger with Viper Motorcycle; Acquires Engine Company, Thor Performance, Inc.

Viper Powersports Inc., today announced that it completed the merger with Viper Motorcycle Company. In connection with the merger, Viper Powersports issued 4,452,062 common shares and 783,000 preferred shares to the shareholders of the Viper Motorcycle Company. Certain shareholders of Viper Powersports also are purchasing 400,000 shares of common stock at $2.50 per share, providing $1 million of additional working capital.

In a separate transaction, Viper Powersports announced that it has acquired 100 percent of the engine technology and other assets of Thor Performance Inc. for 2,996,575 shares of its common stock. Thor Performance is a motorcycle engine design and development company that has completed development of a 100 cubic inch, 115 cubic inch, and 150 cubic inch short-stroke V-twin engine. To date, the 150 short-stroke is the most powerful V-twin production engine commercially available.

The engines feature billet cases, billet cylinders, and billet rocker boxes. They employ 10 patentable applications, which result in approximately 20 percent more power and 20 percent less heat than any engine on the market today. Various fuel delivery systems are available, including carburetor, Viper proprietary fuel injection, or Viper proprietary direct fuel injection. The engines are developed by the company’s technical director, Al Melling, of Melling Consultancy Design in Rochdale, England. “It is exciting to be a partner in the rise of a new OEM in the cruiser motorcycle market,” Melling said. “These engines have been designed and tested for over seven years and now anybody can own a high performance billet engine that will provide more power than most but will also be emission legal.”

Viper’s proprietary engines will be available in limited volumes as production increases throughout the next 12 months. A 128 cubic inch triple cam engine and a 1500cc fuel injected V8 engine is also under development for 2006.

RIP Bru

With a lump in my throat, and watery eyes, I write to tell you of the passing of a great man. Our brother of Shovels and Flatheads, good times and the father of 3 fine children, Bruce Madernini left us to ride his antiques in Harley Heaven. Shown here with his loving wife of 32 years, Linda and son Bruce Jr., 21, at the South Florida Tattoo Convention in Ft. Lauderdale last August, just two months before his diagnosis. Cancer consumed the body of our friend, but his spirit will live on inside each and everyone of us that knew and loved him. Bruce was one of the nicest, kindest mellowest guys you’d ever met, even if he was from New Jersey. An avid fisherman, the family spent time in the Florida Keys and out on the boat.

His stock 1980 FLH took People’s Choice award at the Shovelhead Benefit Show in 2000. His latest project was a 1962 Hummer scooter. He recently broke down and bought a 2003 Dyna Low Rider. His pride and joy was his 1942 ULH that he loving restored as a member of the American Antique Motorcycle Club of America. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday night at Haisley Funeral Home at 3100 Okeechobee Road in Ft. Pierce on Wednesday evening from 4-7-8 pm. Church Services will be held at Common Ground Vineyard Church at 600 Atlantic Ave. in Ft. Pierce on Thursday morning at 10 am. A luncheon in his honor is set up at the AmVets Post located on US Route One. also in Ft. Pierce after the service.

The Shovelhead Show 2005 Benefit for Bruce and Linda is scheduled to go on as planned for today at the Cruiser’s parking lot. Registration begins at noon. This is a ride in show. No trailers, please.

For more information you can email me at the address above. The show must go on! Cancer consumed the body of our friend, but his spirit will live on inside each and everyone of us that knew and loved him. Bruce was 49 years old.

Alzheimers’ Eye Test

Test your eyes Count every “F” in the following text:

FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTI FIC STUDY COMBINED WITH THE EXPERIE NCE OF YEARS… (SEE BELOW)

HOW MANY ?

…………………. 3?

WRONG, THERE ARE 6 — no joke. READ IT AGAIN !

The reasoning behind is further down.

The brain cannot process “OF”.

Incredible or what? Go back and look again!!

Anyone who counts all 6 “F’s” on the first go is a genius. Three is normal, four is quite rare.

Send this to your friends. It will drive them crazy.! And keep them occupied for several minutes..!

TEDESCO COULD CLINCH 125 CHAMPIONSHIP IN SEATTLE

Team/Monster/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Ivan “Hot Sauce” Tedesco could clinch his second consecutive THQ AMA 125 West Supercross Series championship tomorrow, April 16, as the series returns to Qwest field in Seattle for round 14 of the 16-race series. Tedesco, a 23-year-old New Mexico native, needs only to finish sixth place or better in Seattle to wrap-up the 2005 championship.

Tedesco has been training hard during the two-month break in the eight race THQ AMA 125 West Supercross Series and feels ready to get back into competition. Prior to the break, Tedesco’s consistent riding style aboard his Kawasaki KX250F earned him two victories and three additional podium finishes in the first six races. With only two events left in the West series, Tedesco hopes to have the championship locked up so he can begin to prepare for the 2005 AMA Motocross outdoor series, which begins mid-May.

To date, Kawasaki has won 14 AMA 125 Supercross championships – and since 1972, Kawasaki Motocross Racing has amassed an impressive 41 AMA Supercross and motocross championships thanks to racing legends such as Jimmy Weinert, Jeff Ward, Mike Kiedrowski, Jeff Emig, Ricky Carmichael, and James Stewart.

The Pro Street Question

Mr. Ball – Thanks for the super quick response on the Pro Street question. I actually got the Pro Street frame from Rogue a while back. Tried to get a 200 Avon on there, but couldn’t get the tranny offset enough, so I had to go down to a 180. Here are a couple of shots from the start and progress to date.

Black Hills Rally Lodging Connection

My name is Marta Rogers and I started a Rally Rental website business out of Deadwood South Dakota. I was born and raised in Deadwood and at the present time work for the Deadwood Chamber of Commerce. I bought a house about 7 years ago and have always rented it out for the rally and have met some interesting-exciting people throughout the years. Since this has happened I have had a number of people ask to help them rent out their homes too and have decided to do my own website called Deadwood Connections which just got up and running a couple of months ago. Not being a well known business yet because we are new I am finding it hard to find rally renters without spending a lot of money in advertising. So I have been desperately trying to promote my website through emails.

We are a Vacation Property/Rally Rental business, that offers concierge services along with this. The one nice thing is that my partner and I are locals and this is a small community so we are very well known throughout the community. Knowing that people trust us because we are locals we want to go the extra mile to make sure that everyone is happy so that our clients will come to us again next year. So if you have the time please take a look at our website and poster that I have attached.

I am in search of someone that can help me find renters for the Sturgis Rally so if you or anyone you know that is willing to take give me advise or contacts I would sincerely appreciate it. Or if you have a bulletin board that you wouldn’t mind hanging our poster up on.

US Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee Passes Remainder of Highway Bill

The United States Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation cleared the third and final portion of the Highway bill Thursday, April 14. The twenty-two member panel approved the legislation by voice vote. No amendments were offered.

Senator Ted Stevens (R-AK), who chairs the committee showed his dedication to motorcyclists by including language in the measure that would make grants available to the individual states to be used solely for motorcycle safety training and awareness campaigns. This grant money will be available specifically for motorcycle training and awareness campaigns. This is the language initiated by the Motorcycle Riders Foundation.

Call To Action At this time US Senate has not scheduled floor time for debate on the highway bill. Senate leadership is indicating that floor time might be available beginning April 19th.

Time is running out and other legislation is beginning to mount. The MRF is requesting that you to ask your Senators to bring the bill (S. 732) to the Senate Floor.

The easiest way to let them know your concerns is to call the Capitol at 202-224-3121 and ask for your Senators’ offices. Ask your Senators to speak to Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN) and press for immediate consideration of S. 732, other wise known as the SAFETEA bill. Without pressure to bring the bill up for consideration, the future of the Highway bill and the motorcycle safety language is in serious jeopardy. Please help make motorcycle history and call your senators now.

High-Class Means High Quality

The High-Class frame from Doug Keim Creative Cycles is definitely one well-built lady. Designed to accept all Evo Big Twin and Twin Cam A motors, she features a drop seat, 5 inches of stretch, 4 inches of leg stretch, and a 42-degree neck angle. A right-side-drive kind of girl that accepts 280/300-rear tires, the High-Class has also been respectfully TIG-welded and fixture-built.

This frame also includes, a CNC steel neck, trans saddle, engine mounts, shock mounts, seat post tube lower mount, side plates, and axle dropouts. The High-Class frame also comes with swingarm, swingarm pivot axis tube, oil tank, tank mounts, 1-inch rear axle, billet axle covers and hardware.

Retail price for the High-Class frame is $3399. For more information, contact: Doug Keim Creative Cycles, (732) 751-1403, www.dougkeim.com.

THAT’S THE WORKS–My goal is to hit the powder guys before I roll out to Laughlin. I’m itchin’ to put this bike together and make her run. I’m still weighing out whether to run the brand new Compu-Fire engine based starter system.

About last night. We were headed back from dinner when the lure of Fantasy Island struck, then Sugarwalls, both strip joints I’m forced to pass rolling to and from work daily. Then later in the evening there was a program on HBO all about strippers and their fun loving lives.

You know life can’t get any better than we have it. Well it can, but beautiful women and their touch are the best, then the ride and the freedom we have to build any goddamn bike we want is unbelievable. So treasure it. It may not last forever, and don’t forget to take the time to fight to keep men’s rights strong (and women’s rights to dance naked until we can legalize prostitution), and the freedom to ride.

Let’s Ride to Laughlin or Vegas next weekend to the Anti-Laughlin Poker Run.
