Hey,
I just rolled in from Paso Robles, California and the Seth’s Mid State Rally and Bike show. I was a judge at the bike contest for the build-off competition and the show. Some damn fine bikes.

The post is full of Katrina Distaster Relief efforts. You should consider helping all you can, but check out each effort so not one gets burned. I got the word today that Confederate Motorcycles was destroyed, and here’s an e-mail between Branscomb Richmond and the promoter of the Steel Pony event in New Orleans:
BR—if you get this, we are ALL o.k, Mom, Dad, me Gary are here in Galveston, TX where my oldest sis lives. Garys family spread out through La, but, safe. Tara and Jackie safe–
But, BR–it is pure hell, Gary went home for a day and, almost did not get out alive, We have such a huge mountain to climb and, its just devasting, looting, raping, killings, its just aweful.
So, PLEASE KEEP US IN YOUR PRAYERS and, thanks for this e mail–we soooooooooooooooooooooooooo appreciate it!! I will call when I can get a phone line out!

Since I’m so fuckin’ late with the Post, I’ll get to it and tell you some gory details at the end.

All eyes were on the radiant bride as her father escorted her down the aisle.
They reached the altar and the waiting groom; the bride kissed her father and placed something in his hand.
The guests in the front pews responded with ripples of laughter. Even the priest smiled broadly.
As her father gave her away in marriage, the bride gave him back his credit card.

Did you receive a complete Vee from CCI, or just a frame etc? when are you going to start it? Are you going to use a Panhead? I have done a lot of testing on these bikes, and I have learned all sorts of things.
I will tell you what I know if you want, in fact I will help you anyway you want (unless you rake the frame).
For a matter of interest, On a scale of 10 comfortable wise, my V was about an 8 out of 10 on my trip to Sturgis, 1614 miles 24.5hrs. My trip today on my ST4 Ducati was about a 4 out of 10 from here to Sacramento and back, about 500 miles both ways. It felt like 15 hours of fighting Labor Day traffic. note, I took off my Corbin seat off , and used the stock Ducati one.
( I don’t know if you know Mo Rockefeller from Sacramento? He died last weekend when he fell off his drag bike, he was one of the good guys, I was very fond of him).
I just look at the picture of us together that was taken at the museum breakfast, and I just realized that either you are taller than I thought, or I am a midget. (pps I haven?t got a small mans complex, I reckon if I was a big as the rest of you old boys, I would still have the same fucked up attitude), so you may have a problem fitting onto the V.
You may like to try moving the pegs forward a bit (when you have a mock up you can put the brackets on just the front hole to try.)
You are used to forward controls, and I think that you are big enough to still have the right ergonomic position if you decide to go this way. I think I have the brackets Santee use on their frames for the Softails etc.(3 holes on one side and 2 holes on the other side). If you want to try and tacking them on the frame to try, they are easy to make, but easier still if some one already has some.
FYI, One of the most exciting thing about building this bike, but CCI don’t think it important enough to tell anyone, Is the fact you can bolt the drive unit together in one lump ie: engine transmission, primary cases with guts, starter motor, and all the oil lines, lay it on its side, and drop the frame over it, and bolt the swingarm and upper and front brackets so it’s bolted together, and pick it all up (I got this on a video). When I built Genny’s one I did this, and when it was still on its side, I fit the trees and the whole front end including the front wheel. I also fit the rear wheel and caliper. Then I put the sidestand on, and picked the whole thing up. It was weird to see it on its wheels. It’s definitely the easiest way to build a bike.
I think this would work with a Panhead as well. I don’t know why I want to write all of a sudden, it’s not normal.

Custom Chrome Master Designer
ps, I will send some really rough video I took while I have been working on the bike , If you swear to god you will not say a word about the quality. If you want, it may take a while.
I’m looking at building a Panhead sport bike for the ride to Sturgis next year. I build a rough-ass Sturgis old school Shovel this year and now it’s time to shift gears and build a bike that’s comfortable and handles like a dream. Years ago I rode a Buell. What a blast. I hit a deer. When I went back for another Buell they shrunk them. I was already too big for Buells. I looked around and even suggested that the factory build a Big Twin Buell for big guys, but they didn’t listen, so I went looking.
John Reed, Custom Chrome’s master designer saw the light, since he’s a hard rider and began to develop a Big Twin Sport Bike called the Custom Chrome V. It’s a kit from CCI and my plan is to drop a 120-inch Accurate Engineering Panhead engine in it with a Baker Transmission and make her fly. I won’t rake the frame and I’m going to try to run with mid-control, although I may need to adjust the position for my 6’5″ frame. Watch for the build to come to Bikernet.–Bandit

Hey look at this, I got the boy doing some prep work back in the paint shop today. He is just starting shop class in High school and is already thinking about taking over the shop. I am truly a Lucky Devil to have such a good helper around the place. We are all looking forward to the show and having ya’ll over to the shop. I am not sure what we are going to do yet but we are looking into some different ways we can scrape together some help for our southern neighbors during the Lone Star Rally and the Texas National Bike Show. We’ll keep you posted and put together some kind of announcements when we figure out the best way to help.
Take care, The Devil

I met you once at the Queen Mary show a few years ago. Just wondering you’d like coverage of the Euro Bike week in Austria. I am riding up there from Bosnia.

Of course we want the coverage. We can cover virtually everything that’s bike and moves on the planet. We look forward to it.–Bandit

Smith climbs to the top of Mt. Sinai to get close enough to talk to God. Looking up, he asks the Lord… “God, what does a million years mean to you?”
The Lord replies, “A minute.”
Smith asks, “And what does a million dollars mean to you?”
The Lord replies, “A penny.”
Smith asks,” Can I have a penny?”
The Lord replies, “In a minute”.

The call for charitable support has become the signature of the World biker community. Something that allows bikers to be proud of who they are and what they represent.
My name is Steve Easton, and I am just an idea guy. Today I had one that will catapult bikers to a new level of society. However that is not my motivation. AMERICANS are in trouble, and they need as much help as we can give for as long as we can give. This is a war like no other. A war against Mother Nature. As such I have decided that Veterans would be proud that Americans came together to make a difference on VETERAN’S DAY 2005.
I am asking all dealerships across the country, perhaps Canada and perhaps the world, put together an event on November 11, 2005 that will unsurpass anything ever coordinated in History, other than Xmas. These events will likely be the end of the bike-riding season in most places.
We can raise Millions of dollars for the Gulf Coast victims.
If you are receiving this, it is now your duty as an American to see it gets into capable hands. ALL BIKERS.
Please forward this to as many people who can make this happen as possible. This is an American tragedy, not just the south.

VICTORY MOTORCYCLES is celebrating an increase of approximately 30 per cent in sales figures last year, led by its popular ‘Vegas’ and ‘Kingpin’ models. The later ‘Hammer’ and ‘Vegas 8-Ball’ bikes have also made major contributions and Victory has announced plans to build on this success.
The ‘Vegas Jackpot’ is a model style Victory calls extreme custom. The radical paint scheme includes a color-matched frame, many chrome details and a lowered rear end supported by a wide, 250-series rear tire, with a traditional 21in diameter wheel at the front. A revised headlight design is among other detail alterations. The 100ci ‘Freedom’ engine provides the power, driving through a six-speed overdrive transmission. Designed for practical, long-distance riding, the Vegas Jackpot is available at a premium price compared to similar bikes from other manufacturers.
The Ness Series Signature Bikes range has expanded with two new models based on the Vegas Jackpot. A custom paint scheme, custom seat, drag bars, billet wheels and many other details make these additions distinctive packages.
The successful Vegas and Kingpin models will now be available with the 100ci Freedom engine that was first seen in the Victory Hammer.

First and foremost, let me tell you that I’m a huge fan of yours. As my friend, you always seem to be there when needed. The perfect post-work daiquiri, a glass of wine on the weekend, you’re even around in the holidays, or hidden inside chocolates as you warm us when we’re stuck in the midst of endless family gatherings. However, lately I’ve been wondering about your intentions. While I want to believe that you have my best interests at heart, I feel that your influence has led to some unwise consequences:
1. Phone calls: While I agree with you that communication is important, I question the suggestion that any conversation of substance or necessity takes place after 2 a.m. Why would you make me call those ex-boyfriends/girlfriends when I know for a fact they do not want to hear from me during the day, let alone all hours of the night?
2. Eating: Now, you know I love a good meal, but why do you suggest that I eat a burrito, buffalo wings along with a bratwurst with cheese, onion and mustard (washed down with WINE and topped off with a Kit Kat after a few jalapeno poppers)? I’m an eclectic eater, but I think you went too far this time.
3. Clumsiness: Unless you’re subtly trying to tell me that I need to do more yoga to improve my balance, I see NO need to hammer the issue home by causing me to fall down. It’s completely unnecessary, and the black and blue marks that appear on my body mysteriously the next day are beyond me. Similarly, it should never take me more than 45 minutes to get the front door key into the lock.
4. Furthermore: The hangovers have GOT to stop. This is getting ridiculous. I know a little penance for a previous evening’s debauchery may be in order, but the 3pm hangover immobility is completely unacceptable. My entire day is shot. I ask that, if the proper precautions are taken (water, vitamin B, bread products, aspirin) prior to going to sleep/passing out face down on the kitchen floor with a bag of popcorn, the hangover should be minimal and in no way interfere with my daily activities.
Alcohol, I have enjoyed our friendship for some years now and would like to ensure that we remain on good terms. You’ve been the invoker of great stories, the provocation for much laughter, and the needed companion when I just don’t know what to do with the extra money in my pockets.
In order to continue this friendship, I ask that you carefully review my grievances above and address them immediately. I will look for an answer no later than Thursday 3pm (pre-happy hour) on your possible solutions and hopefully we can continue this fruitful partnership.

(CNSNews.com) – The federal agency that regulates U.S. gun dealers stands accused, along with at least three Virginia law enforcement agencies, of trying to shut down legal gun shows through alleged intimidation of gun buyers and sellers. The law enforcement organizations also allegedly broke the law by sharing gun buyers’ information with members of the public.
Annette Gelles, owner of gun show sponsor Showmasters.us, told Cybercast News Service that at least 30 agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) along with nearly 500 Virginia State Police, Henrico County Police and Richmond City Police officers were assigned to the ATF operation targeting her gun show on Aug. 13 and 14 at the Richmond International Raceway and Fairground Complex, outside Richmond, Va.
Gelles said four marked police cars were stationed at the main entrance to the raceway parking lot and more than 50 marked and unlabeled but obvious law enforcement vehicles were positioned just outside the public entrance to the building. The officers’ presence, Gelles said, was intended to intimidate her customers.
“It’s just a persecution thing. It’s not really an attempt to solve crimes or stop them,” Gelles said. “It’s their way of trying to get rid of gun shows. That’s the only way you can explain that large a police presence at the gun shows.”
Gelles said ATF Resident Agent in Charge Brian Swann told her that the officers were part of a “Virginia State Police, ATF task force” and represented the “same amount of force that we’ve used in all the shows.” The only difference in Gelles’ case, Swann told her, was that the command post was established at the site of her gun show.
Virginia State Police (VSP) spokeswoman Corinne Geller told Cybercast News Service that her agency does participate in a task force with ATF and other Virginia law enforcement agencies. As part of the agreement that created the task force, Geller said, VSP agreed to refer questions regarding its operations to ATF.
“They did something else, which is highly illegal,” Gelles charged. “They did something called a residency check.”
Gelles explained that, when gun dealers took the paperwork to the Virginia State Police on-site office to complete the background checks on prospective buyers, ATF agents copied the names, home addresses and telephone numbers of the applicants.

The driver of a Jeep who made a U-turn into the path of a motorcyclist, killing him, is considering suing the estate of the motorcyclist he killed, according to a newspaper report.
The News-Times in Danbury, Connecticut, quoted lawyer Philip Russell as saying he believes his client, Andrew Guazza, 31, of Beacon, New York, has a “valid claim” against the estate of the motorcyclist, Larry Pierce, 58, of New Fairfield, Pennsylvania.
On June 8, Guazza pleaded no contest to negligent homicide in Pierce’s death, which occurred in 2003 when Guazza made a U-turn in front of Pierce, causing the fatal crash. Pierce was airlifted to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Guazza suffered injuries in the crash, primarily to his ankle. Russell said the suit could be based on an allegation that the motorcyclist “came along unexpectedly at a speed substantially in excess of the posted speed,” the News-Times reported.

Motorcycle hits bear in freak accident in Southern Oregon 10:29 AM PDT on Monday, August 29, 2005 By kgw.com and AP Staff. MEDFORD, Ore. — An injured bear had to be destroyed after it was struck by a motorcycle in a freak accident in southern Oregon over the weekend, police said.
Peter Burnand, the motorcycle driver, and an unidentified woman passenger, both from Calgary, Alberta, were treated for minor injuries at Rogue Valley Medical Center, said Bill Matson, Oregon State Police senior trooper.
But the bear, a female weighing nearly 200 pounds, was severely injured and had to be killed, Matson said. “The bear just darted out and they hit it in the side,” he said. The accident occurred Sunday at milepost 47 on Highway 62.

LABOR DAY MOMENT–It’s a holiday weekend, so let’s take a moment from riding, watch football, hanging with the bros and chasin’ women to put a care package together. Yeah, dig around and pull all those t-shirts out that you never wear. Crawl into the back of your closet for shoes you’ll never wear again, or a jacket that’s too small. Pack it up and make a donation to the Red Cross.

We’ll keep reporting on the progress of these efforts this coming Thursday in the Bikernet News. We’ll also post a helluva lot more features this week, and I’m about to test ride the new Saxon Motorcycles, plus Agent Zebra will bring back reports on the new Thunder Mountain motorcycles. Hang on for new reports and a new chapter of Chance in the Cantina. We’re rockin’, but for now it’s Margarita time and time to dig through drawers for care package items.
Ride Forever,
