We’re immersed in holiday madness, as I’m sure you are too. And damnit, if it isn’t the 11th today. We’ll slice through Christmas like shit through a goose.
Hell, at the crack of dawn we were on the roof of the headquarters stringing lights. Our crew has stripped and touched up the building and it’s almost looking acceptable. I’ll take a shot of it at sundown so you can get an update on the changes.

Federal agents and state police launched raids in Meriden and Waterbury overnight into what State Police characterize as an outlaw motorcycle gang. Hartford police also participated in the crackdown on members of the El Diablo’s Motorcycle Club, Connecticut Chapter.
State Police spokesman Sgt. J. Paul Vance says 12 warrants were exercised at seven private homes, two private clubs and a bar. Narcotics, marijuana and firearms were seized.
Handcuffed suspects were taken away on a bus to the New Haven County lockup. Raids began at 8:00 p.m. yesterday and continued into this morning’s week hours. In a related arrest in Massachusetts, a Chicopee man that authorities say is a high-ranking member of El Diablos motorcycle gang was arrested at his home. Marijuana and a sawed-off shotgun were seized.
Keith Gallagher Senior, who was identified as El Diablos’ national vice president, was charged with trafficking cocaine in western Massachusetts. He pleaded not guilty and was ordered held on 100 thousand dollars cash bail and scheduled to return to Chicopee District Court on December 20th.

CHRIS, I WORKED AT THE FEDERAL EPA IN WASHINGTON D.C. FOR 25 YEARS AND HAVE A THOROUGH KNOWLEDGE OF HOW THE AGENCY WORKS. PRESSURE WORKS IN ALL REGULATORY AREAS AND I NOW BELIEVE, AFTER TALKING TO THE EDITOR OF ROGUE, THAT YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN CARRYING ON AN APPROACH TO THE MOTORCYCLE BUILDING PROBLEMS AND THE DEADLINES AND WHO CAN AND CANNOT BUILD CYCLES AND HOW MANY IN A TIME PERIOD.
FIRST, GO TO THE EPA WEB SITE AND LOOK AT THE ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE PROGRAM. ANY TIME A MINORITY POPULATION IS AFFECTED, I.E. MOTORCYCLISTS, THERE HAS TO BE AN ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS OR ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE STUDY ON THE EFFECTS OF A PROJECT OR REGULATION ON THE AFFECTED POPULATION. EPA DID NOT DO ONE IN THIS CASE OF THE MOTORCYCLE BUILDERS, RIDERS AND ENTHUSIASTS.
LAWN MOWERS CAUSE ALOT MORE POLLUTION AND SNOW BLOWERS THAN THE MOTORCYCLES CAN EVER DO. EPA USED TO REGULATE NOISE POLLUTION FROM LAWNMOWERS AND THEN HAD THE REGULATION KILLED IN ONE YEAR AFTER ENACTMENT DUE TO HEAVY PRESSURE FROM BRIGGS AND STRATTON AND OTHERS.
I HAD A HONDA TRAIL 90 WHEN I WAS IN GRADUATE SCHOOL. I USED THE CYCLE IN THE WOODS TO BRING DEER OUT TO CHECK STATIONS AND SAVED ALOT OF OLDER HUNTERS HEART ATTACKS DUE TO EXHAUSTION. I LOVE MOTOR CYCLES, BUT CURRENTLY DO NOT DRIVE ONE. MY BROTHER, AND ALOT OF COAL MINERS IN WEST VIRGINIA RIDE HARLEYS ALL THE TIME.
MOTOR CYCLES ARE A PIMPLE ON THE ASS OF TIME WHEN IT COMES TO POLLUTION. YES IT IS OK TO TELL SOMEONE TO MEET CERTAIN STANDARDS, BUT DO NOT AND I REPEAT DO NOT TELL THEM THEY CANNOT BUILD, SELL OR MANUFACTURE CYCLES. IF ONE USES MOTORS WHICH HAVE POLLUTION STANDARDS ON THEM, OK AS ALONG AS THE FUEL EFFICIENCY AND EMISSIONS ARE ALL THE SAME FOR EVERYONE, OLDER BIKES SHOULD BE EXEMPT UNTIL THEY ARE SOLD, TRADED IN OR DISCARDED.
I COMPLETED AN ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE STUDY ON THE STAFFORD COUNTY REGIONAL AIRPORT IN STAFFORD COUNTY VA. THE EPA AND CORPS OF ENGINEERS WOULD NOT ALLOW THE PROJECT TO GO FORWARD WITHOUT IT. EVEN THEN IT WAS A LAST MINUTE REQUIREMENT. I DID THE STUDY IN 2 WEEKS AND IT WAS EXTRAORDINARY. I AM GOOD AT WHAT I DO.
THE EPA ADMINISTRATOR, STEVE JOHNSON, IS A PERSONAL FRIEND OF MINE. IN 1980 HE CAME TO PESTICIDE PROGRAMS AS A PRESIDENTIAL EXECUTIVE. HE WAS TUTORED BY ME FOR ONE YEAR SO HE WOULD UNDERSTAND PESTICIDES WELL. STEVE WILL LISTEN TO REASONING.
CONGRESSMAN MOLLOHAN, D-WVA, SITS ON THE EPA, HUD, AND OTHER SMALL AGENCIES AS MINORITY LEADER. HE IS SENSITIVE TO ISSUES AND IS A PERSONAL FRIEND OF MINE. ALAN MIGHT FIGHT FOR YOU SINCE SO MANY COAL MINERS IN HIS DISTRICT RIDE CYCLES AND THEY BUILD THEM UP THERE ALSO.

THE GREENIES WILL KILL YOU EVERY TIME. I HAVE LEARNED HOW TO SATISFY GREENIES BY NEGOTIATION AND SKILLED FOOT WORK TO BENEFIT THEM FROM A FOUNDATION WHICH WOULD BE FORMED INCLUDING THEM IN YOUR BOARD TO WORK ON FUTURE ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES INVOLVING MOTORCYCLES.

To be honest, you most likely will enjoy reading Barger’s new book yourself and the good news is that it weighs in at a cost of about only 15 bucks a copy, so you can pick up one or two copies as gifts for them and a copy for yourself to read.
Sonny Barger has written several books over the recent years and this book may fast prove to be his most popular book so far. In this book Barger has written a solid Philosophy for life on the Hot-Topped Road. After reading this book, one can understand why Sonny Barger has been called the spiritual leader of the Hell’s Angels and is thought of as a Road-Mentor by many Brother and Sister Riders.
I wish that I had had this book to give to my sons when they turned 18, then again, to be honest, I wish I had been handed this book when I was 18. It sure would have saved a lot of head banging and mistakes along the Road.
Is this statement an over-statement?? I think not! But a moment of caution is do here – If you are buying or looking into Sonny Barger’s new book (Freedom … Credos From The Road) expecting to read a book with a “Do what you want … to whoever you want … whenever you want to!” attitude, you best move on to the comic book section of the store, for this attitude is not in Barger’s book.
Barger’s Philosophy can best be described as cautionary — for wise thought, for there is always a repercussion for every action .. so think well before you act. True, his Philosophy is not a ‘turn the other cheek’
Philosophy — “Treat me good – I’ll treat you better.” “Treat me bad – I’ll treat you worse.” But, Barger’s Philosophy is not a ‘get them first’ attitude, it is more of a ‘Live And Let Live’ Philosophy … with a Capital — LIVE!
Barger is best thought of as an American Patriot … As an American he respects his own rights as well as other’s. Even on the Highway (sect 32, p138), he recommends finding the rhythm of the Road, “The challenge to driving or riding is knowing the simple rules, finding the groove and sticking to it.”
Barger made this statement about the Hot-Topped Road, but he most likely adheres to this Philosophy on the Road of Life as well. Barger admits he has hit his share of speed bumps in the Road of Life. He does not let these speed bumps go to waste. He is honest with his Brothers, Sisters and Readers about his past cocaine use and prison time and tells he does not recommend that others make these same mistakes.
They say the measure of a good book is … how fast a book will disappear if you set it down. Here, I would like to thank the good folks at the Goodall Library in Sanford, ME for loaning me their copy of Freedom … Credos From the Road, for my copy has grown its own legs and has disappeared.
Here we would like to recommend that you buy a copy of this book for yourself and a copy for a friend or two … but we don’t recommend that you set them down.
We also recommend that if you would like to own a First Edition of this book, that you purchase it soon, for we are sure that this book will go through many more Editions.

BikeFest? 2006, will be available to companies that are new to the event, announced the Las Vegas BikeFest Partnership. Companies that participated in the 2005 event were given first choice of booth space as a benefit of past support of the event.
“The inside exhibit hall space is over 75% filled”, announced Harry Schwartz, President of Full Throttle Events, one of the partners of the Las Vegas BikeFest Partnership. “We anticipate that the inside space will be sold-out before the end of February. Last year all booth space, including the outside area, was sold-out 45 days prior to the event with a wait-list of over 20 companies that could not be accommodated. We are looking into expansion options outside so that more companies can be in attendance”, stated Schwartz.
The 2005 Las Vegas BikeFest? featured a bustling Vendor Village with more than 260 leading manufacturers and distributors of motorcycles, parts, accessories and apparel on display and more than 34,400 bikers in attendance. “Branscombe Richmond and Canned Heat provided headliner entertainment in the Vendor Village along with local and regional entertainment all day to add to the festive atmosphere that promotes spending. “We will continue to provide great entertainment in the Vendor Village to encourage the bikers to stay and purchase from the vendors”, announced Schwartz.
The 6th Annual Las Vegas BikeFest? will be held September 14-17 in the most famous 24-hour city, Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will consist of the Vendor Village at Cashman Center with over 260 manufacturers and vendors, and activities such as Poker Runs and competitions, and free concerts with well-known celebrity bands on the Fremont Street Experience mall. 40,000 bikers and enthusiasts are expected to be in attendance.

Any E.U. ( European Union) country will accept your valid U.S. drivers license as long as you have a valid motorcycle endorsement and are over age 21.
The same is true here for E.U. drivers and M.C. riders. If you are planning on riding through Russia or any of their former satellite countries or non-E.U. countries you will need to apply for a visa and ask about your driving privileges in that country. I was turned back at the Russian Border last June because I was riding a bike registered in Finland and had a U.S. passport and license.
You can get full details about riding in Europe from your local A.A.A. or the corresponding Euro auto club. Also make sure your insurance company will cover you riding abroad. Most WILL NOT so be sure to find out about local liability insurance from where ever you get the bike in Europe. This will add quite a bit to your rental if that’s the case but it’s well worth it when you hit a goat in Serbia and they try to stick you for $5,000 for the dead goat.

EGG NOGS ON ME–Time management is treacherous here at the headquarters. I’m always jamming from one project to another. We’re studying the Code of the West for answers and here’s a thought: Sex. Christmas sex and lots of it. It will take you away from nagging projects and long lines in malls. You may even need to plan for sex on Christmas day. Yeah, I know it’s a terrible thought. Think about it. If you’re wrapped up warm and tight with someone so soft she makes your eyes water, how can the family blame you for forgetting Christmas gifts. Just a thought.
Regarding time savings. I’m working on a Custom Frame Ordering article. It will hopefully cover everything you need to work out before ordering a frame. You wouldn’t believe all the bullshit that comes up. I’ll post it tomorrow sometime with the help of Xtreme frames. Oh, and a reader requested a Night Rod road test. We handled it with five riders and we’ll bring you all their comments this week.
Lucky Devil is working on an article about installing a kicker on a 5-speed, and no-telling what else will pop up next week. In the meantime have an eggnog and relax.
