Hey,

I hit the Long Beach Swap Meet this morning, at the crack of dawn, with brother Jeremiah and his son Evan. We searched, while it threatened to rain, for Assalt Weapan headlights, for the World?s Fastest Panhead attempt. I found three and bought all three. I don?t know the width of the front end or what might work, so I picked up a variety of springer and classic sizes.

All the girls snuck out of here, while we paced the asphalt lanes for treasure, and headed to the Renaissance Fair. I?m on my own for the news, so watch for lots of sex and little substance. Let?s hit it:

MIKE EGAN OF EGAN VINTAGE MOTORCYCLES REPORT– Got a message from Christian about needing a cylinder for a VL. Harley in their wisdom made 5 cylinder variations on VLs and no telling which are on his engine.

I get $2500 up for a boreable bare set of two if I have them. When available, the cylinders will most likely need fin repair, valve seat repair, new guides and possibly sleeves as well as boring.

I’m really only interested in selling those type components when I am doing the engine overhaul. He might be able to buy a whole VL engine somewhere and change out the top-end.

MOTORCYCLIST CHASES DOWN HIT-AND-RUN DRIVER– FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A member of a local motorcycle club took the law into his own hands when he chased after a driver who hit one of his fellow bikers and sped away Wednesday.

About 25 members of the Rough Riders motorcycle club were riding their bikes in formation at about 11:30 p.m. when, according to Angelo Fulford, “this car zigs in-between us and starts jamming his brakes, making bikes move off the side of the road.”

When the driver of the car actually hit one of the bikes and sped off, Fulford said he chased after the driver for about 15 minutes until he finally caught up with him at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

“He stopped, jumped out of his car and ran through the airport terminal, where I ran inside and took him down, brought him back outside and held him until the cops got here,” Fulford said.

The motorcyclist who was hit by the driver refused to go to the hospital and was treated at the scene. The driver, whose name has not been released, could be charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injuries.

“He’s trying to be like ‘The Fast and the Furious’ with the cars,” Rough Riders member Tony Perez said, adding that the driver was likely trying to imitate what he had seen in movies.?Channel 10 news.

POT?S ACTIVE INGREDIENT HALTS LUNG CANCER GROWTH, BIKERNET MEDICAL STUDY REVEALS– Los Angeles, CA: The administration of THC significantly reduces lung tumor size and lesions, according to preclinical data presented this week at the annual meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) in Los Angeles.

Investigators at Harvard University’s Division of Experimental Medicine reported that THC inhibited the growth and spread of cells in vitro from two different lung cancer cell lines and from patient lung tumors. They also reported that THC administration reduced the growth of lung tumors in mice by more than 50 percent compared to untreated controls over a three-week period.

Researchers noted that THC appeared to block a specific cancer-causing protein in a manner similar to the pharmaceutical anti-cancer drugs Erbitux (Cetuximab) and Vectibix (Panitumumab).

Results of a large-scale, case-controlled study published last year found that smoking cannabis, even long-term, is not positively associated with increased incidence of lung-cancer. Investigators in that study noted that one subset of moderate lifetime users had an inverse association between cannabis use and lung cancer, leading them to speculate that cannabinoids may possess certain protective properties against the development of lung cancer in humans. Separate preclinical studies indicate that compounds in marijuana inhibit cancer cell growth in animals and in culture on a wide range of tumoral cell lines ?– including human breast carcinoma cells, human prostate carcimona cells, and human colectoral carcinoma cells, among others. Most recently, investigators at Madrid’s Complutense University, School of Biology, reported in the British Journal of Cancer that THC administration decreases recurrent glioblastoma multiforme (brain) tumor growth in patients diagnosed with the disease.

Check Ranell from RFR maybe tomorrow.

So what?s on for next week. Another GOB will hit the Cantina Tomorrow. I?m hoping Mike Egan will send a Digital Discovery. If you run across something truly rare from our industry and history, don?t hesitate to send me a jpg image and a brief description. Hell, it could be a rare gun, knife, war artifact, old engine part, whatever. We have more bike features coming and three techs are headed this way. We have a PM brake install, a D&D touring pipe install, and we?re planning a twin cam, switch from chain driven cams to S&S gear driven cams with Gene?s Speed shop doing the install.
