DOCTOR LEAVE BIKERNET HOSPITAL TO BECOME MECHANIC– Hoping to try another career where skillful hands would be beneficial, the gynecologist decided to change careers and become a mechanic. He found out from the local technical college what was involved, signed up for evening classes, attended diligently, and learned all he could.

WHEN THE TIME FOR THE PRACTICAL EXAM APPROACHED, THE GYNECOLOGIST PREPARED CAREFULLY FOR WEEKS, AND COMPLETED THE EXAM WITH TREMENDOUS SKILL. WHEN THE RESULTS CAME BACK, HE WAS SURPRISED TO FIND THAT HE HAD OBTAINED A SCORE OF 150 PERCENT.

FEARING AN ERROR, HE CALLED THE INSTRUCTOR, SAYING, “I DON’T WANT TO APPEAR UNGRATEFUL FOR SUCH AN OUTSTANDING RESULT, BUT I WONDERED IF THERE HAS BEEN AN ERROR WHICH NEEDS CORRECTING.”

The instructor said, “No, During the exam, you took the engine apart perfectly, which was worth 50 percent of the total mark. You put the engine back together again perfectly, which is also worth 50 percent of the mark.”

THE INSTRUCTOR WENT ON TO SAY, “I GAVE YOU AN EXTRA 50 PERCENT BECAUSE YOU DID ALL OF IT THROUGH THE MUFFLER.”

96710-TL---Case-Lap-Tool 1

JIMS SUNDAY BIKERNET TOOL, BIG TWIN CASE LAP TOOL– Use on 1958-present single cam. (Note: Includes aftermarket motors.)

JIMS goes the next step in case lapping with the release of our new pinion bearing race lap. This tool allows the engine builder to achieve the best of both worlds: removal of more material in less time with greater accuracy than a conventional lap.

JIMS case lap-the first of its kind-is guided on both sides of the pinion bearing race. This additional support on the cam gear side of the bearing race is achieved by means of a bolt on base plate that precisely locates a drill bushing in which the lap turns. This base plate is located on the same engine case pins as the cam cover. The positioning of this drill bushing is held within .0002 to the engine case pins and within .0002 of case centerline.

Now, instead of guiding only from the left side with Timken bearings, which are a floating fit, JIMS case lap uses a special ground bearing sleeve to hold left side of lapping shaft without movement. Both ends of the lap are supported in precisely the same centerline as the flywheel assembly.

With this extremely rigid arrangement, it is possible to power the lap with a low speed drill motor without fear of chatter in the lapped bearing race. If a drill motor is not available, JIMS lap can be powered by the conventional hand crank. Use JIMS No.1710 to remove snap ring, a must on 1990- present H-D cases.

Note: For 1958-69 early cases, use H-D No.2341HW original cam cover screws. All wear surfaces are hardened and ground tool steel for a lifetime of service.

Note: Use 1023-TL. No.96710-TL – Case Lap Tool

Suggested Retail: $661.85

QUIET, FOR A CANTINA RELIGIOUS MOMENT–An Amish woman and her daughter were riding in an old, open, horse-drawn buggy on a cold, blustery day.

The daughter said to her mother, “My hands are freezing!”

Her mother told her, “Put them between your legs. Your body heat will warm them up.”

The daughter did so, and sure enough her hands warmed up.

The next day, the daughter was riding in another open buggy with her boyfriend.

The boy said, “My hands are very cold.”

The girl replied, “Put them between my legs. The warmth of my body will warm them up.”

He promptly did as she told him, and warmed his hands up.

The following day, the boyfriend was again in the buggy with the daughter.

He said, “My nose is freezing.”

The girl replied, “Put it between my legs to warm it up”.

He did and it warmed his nose.

A few days later, the boyfriend was again driving with the daughter, and he said,

“My penis is frozen solid.”

The following day the daughter was driving in the buggy with her mother again, and she asked her mother, “Have you ever heard of a penis?”

Slightly concerned the mother said,” Why, yes…?! Why do you ask?”

Her daughter replied: “They make one hell of a mess when they defrost, don’t they?”

BIKERNET’S VETERAN CHARITY EFFORT–We have been investigating a Veteran’s Charity effort to support. We plan to raffle the Assalt Weapan off in 2009 and make the winner apart of our Bonneville effort. We discovered the Fisher Foundation. They support wounded veterans’ families during the tough times. They rank 5 stars in the Veteran’s Charity line-up. They also work with the Paul Newman foundation. Here’s a tad about his veteran charity efforts:

World War II Navy veteran and actor Paul Newman started a successful business of specialized food products, Newman’s Own, with two simple ideas: insisting on top quality products without the addition of artificial ingredients or preservatives; and giving away all his profits, after taxes, to educational and charitable organizations. Thousands of charities have received donations from Paul Newman as a result of the sale of his products – donations exceeding $200 million since 1982.

IT’S PARTY TIME AT BIKERNET INTERPLANETARY WORLD HEADQUARTERS–It’s a birthday party for Nyla;s son, and we’re being visited by Tony Sanfelipo’s wife Vickie, who is on the coast teaching accident management to California ABATE members.

“They don’t know what’s going on at the political forefront,” Vickie said, when I spoke to her on the phone.

I’ll try to launch an article about our freedoms, before I’m pulled off the computer to prepare for all the Sunday action. I know we’re all busy as hell, but we need to keep an eye on this stuff and the immigration battle. Compare the costs.

green bike
Hang on for scourge of Green bike features, including this one from Peter Linney. You’d think it was March.

Tomorrow I’m out of here for Phoenix to ride their new models. That should be a blast. While I’m gone Johnny will launch the Smoke Out West Coverage from Ian, who rode down from Canada. I’ll try to start writing the Pro Street Grand Opening in Hawaii and I’ve got all the info to write Gard Hollinger’s Build-off Bike feature. It’s an interesting story from one of the master fabricators on this coast. Then next weekend it’s the first California Bike Week, with the Love Ride in Pomona, California and Valerie wants me to bring both Bonneville bikes. Let’s see how the schedule rolls. I need to jam the Assalt Weapan back together. Hang on for reports.

Ride Forever,

–Bandit
