I just grabbed my old leftover Mexican food and new egg scramble and a tortilla and jammed back to my desk. Back in the olden days Sin Wu suggested the Sunday Post. “We should give something special to the Cantina Members,” She said and opened her bodacious blouse. I was sold. Now we can’t go to the Love Ride.
“We’ve got a job, babe,” I told her last week. “We’ve got work to do.” Sunday morning events are out of the picture. I remember talking to Jay Leno once.
“I can’t bring a bike to your studio,” he said. “I work everyday planning shows.”
I don’t want to mutter under my margarita breath, “I know how he feels.” I love what I do and basically enjoy every minute of it. So what the hell am I talking about? Let’s hit the news:

THE CANTINA MANTRA– An old Hotel huh, I live my life vicariously through you my friend, you are a real adventurer! I look forward to our next meeting; meanwhile attached are some photos from the Goodwood Festival of Speed, in England, that I attended along with 7 Bonneville cars.

There is one photo of the village of Bosham which I think Sin Wu will appreciate.

BIKERNET HEADQUARTERS BREAKFAST– A young boy comes down for breakfast. Since they live in an old hotel, his mother asks if he has done his chores.
“Not yet,” said the little boy.
His mother tells him no breakfast until he does his chores.
Well, he’s a little ticked off so when he feeds the chickens,he kicks a chicken. When he feeds the cows, he kicks a cow.
When he feeds the pigs, he kicks a pig.
He goes back in for breakfast and his mother gives him a bowl of dry cereal.
“How come I don’t get any eggs and bacon, and why don’t I have any milk in my cereal?” he asks.
“Well,” his mother says, “I saw you kick a chicken, so you don’t get any eggs for a week.
I saw you kick the pig, so you don’t get any bacon for a week either.
I saw you kick the cow so for a week you aren’t getting any milk.”
Just then, his father comes down for breakfast and kicks the cat halfway across the kitchen.
The little boy looks up at his mother with a smile, and says, “You gonna tell him or should I?”

JOHN COVINGTON PHOENIX STUDIO– I’m back in bid’nez with a new BIG photography studio in Phoenix. I just got the place up and running, here’s a few of the first shots. Let me know if you need anything – I want to be your go-to photo guy out here. To give you an idea of the scale of the place, the cyclorama is 40’x60′. I built all the custom lighting for the studio and both of the soft boxes overhead are articulating with ropes n’ pulleys. The soft box over the car is 20×10 with four dyna-light heads and the other one over the bike in the photo is 12×4 with two Comet heads.
I’m really exited about the new venture and besides doing photography I’ll be renting the studio out to photographers and video productions as well. JC STUDOS LLC…
I’m working on the web site that should be up in a few weeks.

I also have a third Big Cock CD That’s I’m playing drums on that’s about to come out in February called “MotherLoad”. We just got all the tracks back from the mastering lab and we’re just getting started on all the promo push for the first of the year world-wide release. Also, if you’re into video games, I’m playing the drums on ” Mississippi Queen” on the new Guitar Hero III game that just came out.
I hope all is well with you. Keep in touch and have a great Thanksgiving.

TIM’S NOSTALGIC PARTS IN RIVERSIDE– So, I found myself at his place in Riverside, CA. last weekend, I had gone out to the Love Ride in Pomona with my boyfriend and we stopped by Tim’s. My old Shadow needed some expensive and possibly obsolete parts and being the generous soul that he is, Tim called a local Metric boneyard and found me some disks for my current slipping clutch issue. As I went to a local gym to work out; Tim, using Harley parts as barter, unexpectedly went and picked up the disks for me. This Harley junk Cartel went out of his way to help my little Honda, so that I can stay free and in the wind. He has no shortage of generosity, that one.

As we were there, people came for miscellaneous parts to replace, upgrade or build their own projects. He did some in barter and some in cash; however, I did see him refund the cash later when the customer brought a part to him in favor of the trade.

Unfortunately, though, in our “throw-away”, “if it’s broken buy a new one” and “give me the shiny bling” culture; places like Tim’s may, like my old Honda parts, become obsolete. Tim struggles at times to make the ends-meet, yet he still has time and heart to help out and make a fair deal. To those who truly love to ride, love your bikes, and love those who live it, those whose bike is your horse, and all who rely on places like Negotiable Parts, what is gonna happen to you?
When the Marketing team at Harley Davidson convinces everyone that going into debt for a new complicated-high-tech motorcycle is the thing to do, which in reality, makes us more dependent on them and less independent to ride. Where will Tim be?
Where will we be?
Think about it.
Tim inspires and touches my heart and soul. He is an awesome personification of what I think the Biker world represents. With a heart of gold, a passion for those old machines, and a knack for finding the unobtainable, he is truly an endangered species. So man, if you need anything Harley – go ahead and give him a call. You probably won’t regret it.
You can also read about him in the December issue of Easy Ryder magazine.

BIKERNET STAFFER GETS HITCHED– On the first night of their honeymoon, the cute blonde bride slipped into a sexy but sweet nightie and, with great anticipation, crawled into bed. When her husband wasn’t shortly behind her, she got up and went looking for him — and found that her new Catholic husband had settled down on the couch with a book. She asked him why he was apparently not going to make love to her. “I thought you realized,” he replied. “It’s Lent.” “What?!” she shreaked, almost in tears. “Why, that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard!” “Well, you asked, and that’s the answer,” he said, going back to his book. “But…” she said. “Who did you lend it to, and for how long?” –from Ross P. EDITOR LEAVES AMERICAN IRON RETAILER– I wanted to let you, and everyone else in the motorcycle industry, know that I’m leaving my position as editor of American Iron Retailer at the end of 2007 to pursue other journalistic challenges that I haven’t had the time for. My last issue as editor will be the March/April 2008 issue – the one that’ll be at the V-Twin Expo. Getting to start up a new motorcycle magazine like we did in early 2004 is a moto-journalist’s dream, and I’m grateful to American Iron Magazine publisher Buzz Kanter for giving me that opportunity. I’m proud of what we were able to accomplish and I’m looking forward to the continued growth of American Iron Retailer and helping out as a contributing writer whenever possible. I also want to thank the folks in the industry for their tremendous support of American Iron Retailer. I’m staying in the motorcycle industry (well, what ELSE would I do?), so I’ll see you at Cincy! –Marjorie Kleiman BIKERSTORE USA.COM– Large selection of Officially Licensed Harley-Davidson? products on sale today! 100’s of products from pool cues to camping gear & even game room bars and furniture. Our testing revealed that a significant number of all vehicle batteries may be damaged due to voltage spikes, surges, and overcharging. On our batteries, the speed of charging and high amperage output are not a problem however, charging above 14.5 volts can damage any battery. We spent the last several months developing (interior) protective electronic circuits, designed specifically for this new battery technology. A brief description of each circuit is shown below: “Battery Management System” (BMS) – Tek-Battery designs and manufactures the BMS (Battery Management System) that gives the cells their long life. The BMS ensures that each cell utilized in a Tek-Battery Pack charges and discharges at precisely the same rate. Without this, one cell would become “overworked”, causing cell failure. This is similar to a “Plate” battery, where one plate tends to give out, causing battery failure. “Over-Voltage Protection circuit” – Protects the battery from overcharging by bleeding off any excess voltage, thereby saving the battery from damage. Conventional batteries will fail, due to over-voltage and heat build-up if the voltage regulator stops regulating. “Discharge Protection circuit” – Prevents the battery from discharging to 0 volts, by either an accessory that is left on or a fuel injection ECU drawing constant power. This circuit will shut off power at a preset voltage, which will ensure that there is still enough power in the battery to START the vehicle. Our studies have shown that the main cause of battery failure falls into four main categories: It should be noted that these batteries will continue to undergo additional testing over the next month, to ensure that that no other changes need to be made. Tek-Battery expects to release the Production Version during the 1st quarter of 2008. If you have any questions on this, please call or e-mail me. –Pat Hotch NEW GOB FEATURE COMING TO THE CANTINA AND HERE’S THE BIKE– Let me know what you think. Justin, line Redneck and a couple of others, is working with Buell drive trains to build tight, fast, agile choppers. Watch for this feature in December. –Justin @ Two-Bit Choppers WHY MEN HAVE BETTER FRIENDS– Friendship Between Women: A woman didn’t come home one night. The next day she told her husband that she had slept over at a friend’s house. The man called his wife’s 10 best friends. None of them knew about it. Friendship Between Men: A man didn’t come home one night. The next day he told his wife that he had slept over at a friend’s house. The woman called her husband’s 10 best friends. Eight of them confirmed that he had slept over and two claimed that he was still there. –from Buckshot BIKERNET WEATHER REPORT CORRECTION– Noticed in the News that you went to the great Northwest “where it rains all the time”. Hey, c’mon look at a map – Washington and Oregon both have over 60% of their territory east of the Cascades, where there is less than seven inches of rain a year, great scenery, not much traffic, superb riding and a few wild women. Lots’a good dealerships and custom shops too and a hell of lot fewer wimpy liberals than west of the Cascade Curtain. –Chunks ULTRA MOTORCYCLES AUCTION GOES WRONG–We’ve heard about another motorcycle company that’s having problems hanging with a down market. Ultra sold its building and moved to a smaller facility. Last weekend they produced an auction to raise some quick needed capital, but it was reported they forgot to assign reserves to lot items and each group of products went to the highest bidder, no matter how low the bid. We’ll report on their progress in the future. BIKERNET SPONSOR PACKAGES WILL HIT THE POST OFFICE NEXT WEEK– We’ve ordered and received new 5-ball racing shirts, patches stickers, Cycle Source Mags, wonderful pictures of Valerie and Sponsorship certificates. It?s rumored GoDaddy isn?t going to renew their support for Valerie. I truly believe he’s the one who is losing in this deal. We plan a very aggressive campaign for the Assalt Weapan over the next two years, ultimately raffling the bike off to support wounded veterans. The winner will go to Bonneville with us in ’09 and be a member of the 5-Ball Racing team before he takes possession of the World’s Fastest Panhead. Feel free to drop Valerie a line, if you wish to support her continued successful racing career. Valerie Thompson QUESTION FOR BIKERNET READERS–I receive information from overseas manufacturers constantly. I’m seriously in favor of Made in America goods, but I also know that we, as a planet, are made of a global economy and that we need to be very aware of how the rest of the world perceives us. On the other hand we do our best to support companies like Baker Transmission and Little Joe’s Legendary Leathers. So I’m wondering if I should always ditch this information or pass it on? Let me know your thoughts. Below is one such notice: We have a new motor technology–Coreless Motor/ Ironless Motor, Please see enclosed datasheet for your reference. If you are interested in it. Please feel free to contact with us. –Harry Xiong
