THE MYSTERY CARB PHOTO–Pics of my EX carbs. Dean didn’t rebuild this set (unfortunately). This is the set that came with the bike from Dave Hurst. I think Doug Reese did these carbs..yeah, wonder how the gaskets were?
Those guys who don’t know, this is a custom EX built by a friend. It’s been on speed channel several times, been to SEMA, biker build off type shows, built by Bryan Fuller.
And yes Dave Hurst, those are your old carbs!….Bryan spiffed them up a bit, huh?…you might remember him from Barber pit.

RFR DELIVERS THE COOKIE GIRL– Here are a few images of Siouxsie Monroe (pronounced Suzy, I just call her Cookie Girl, cause she brings me homemade cookies) the other half of the Porcelain Dolls. I will have some shots of them together at some point.

BUY AMERICAN!–This is something we banter around constantly, but we need to look at it seriously. A brother just got a call, “I can buy 5-speed polished Softail Transmissions for $499, with a pulley,” He said. “I couldn’t build a transmission case for that price in the US.”
He spends $399 for top of the line Pan or Shovel cylinders, a piece. “I could have them made overseas for $99. Does that make me a bad businessman, or a man who honors his country?”

JODY PEREWITZ JOINS TEAM KRYPTONITE–Lock Manufacturer Teams with Growing Force in Motorcycle Industry.
Canton, MA February 1, 2006 – Kryptonite, a brand in Ingersoll Rand’s Security Technologies Sector, announces that Jody Perewitz has joined Team Kryptonite. Kryptonite and Perewitz Cycle Fabrications entered into an exclusivity partnership two years ago when her father, legendary builder Dave Perewitz, joined Team Kryptonite. Jody will represent the company at shows and through its newly launched Riding Essentials for Women class.
“After working with the Perewitz family for several years, Kryptonite is making our relationship with Jody official by adding her to our growing Team Kryptonite,” said Karen Rizzo, Director of Marketing. “Our partnership with Jody will help us bring the message of security to an ever expanding audience that we may not have been successful at targeting before – the woman motorcycle rider. We all look forward to having a long relationship with Jody.”
Perewitz will team with endurance sport bike racer, Nicole Hoffman in the newly created Riding Essentials for Women summer series of classes. They will travel to select dealers sharing their experiences and extensive knowledge on safety, simple maintenance, gear choices, resources available and security tips. The whole experience will be for women only. The first class will take place at Perewitz Cycle Fabrications in June.
In addition to the women’s classes, Jody will also continue to write for Kryptonite’s Unbreakable Bonds blog and participate in other non-traditional marketing for the company later in the year.
“We’ve trusted Kryptonite products for years at the shop and on the road,” said Jody Perewitz. “I know full well how intimidating it can be to ask “the guys” anything so I’m glad to have the opportunity to work with this brand to help bring more women into the sport.”
Perewitz joins her famous father, endurance road racer Nicole Hoffman and former pro-cyclist Bob Roll on Team Kryptonite. The company has enjoyed lengthy relationships with each of these members.
Kryptonite, Jody Perewitz, Dave Perewitz and Nicole Hoffman can be found in booth 2019 at Dealer Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana. The show runs February 16-18, 2008.

BIKERNET ZOO NOW OPEN–A biker is riding by the zoo, when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion’s cage.
Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the cuff of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents.
The biker jumps off his bike, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch.
Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl, and the biker brings her to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly.
A reporter has seen the whole scene, and addressing the biker, says- Sir, this was the most gallant and brave thing I saw a man do in my whole life.
– Why, it was nothing, really, the lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger, and acted as I felt right.
– Well, I’ll make sure this won’t go unnoticed. I’m a journalist, you know, and tomorrow’s papers will have this on the first page. What motorcycle do you ride?
– A Harley Davidson.
The journalist leaves.
The following morning the biker buys the paper to see if it indeed brings news of his actions, and reads, on first page:
BIKER GANG MEMBER ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND STEALS HIS LUNCH.

V-QUAD CUSTOMS WIN POMONA GRAND NATIONAL ROADSTER SHOW– Greg Nelson of Nelson Engineering showed his new V-Quad engine at the V-Twin Expo in Cincinnati last weekend. The V-Quad is essentially, the largest, most powerful engine that you can get and put into your stock Harley EVO style frame with minor frame modifications. This monster makes double of everything, double the sound, double the horsepower and double the torque.
The V-Quad was installed in a stock FL with minor modifications to the frame. According to Greg it’s a simple swap and doesn’t have any adverse affect on the handling of the bike. I threw my leg over the bike and lifted it off the side stand without any more effort than my own FLTRI. Presently it is available with 45mm Mikuni Carbs only, no fuel injection yet, which may limit some applications but I’m sure it won’t hold back those builders who want the biggest engine on the block.
Greg has some neat videos of the engine in an FXR at Bonneville on his website http://v-quad.com/index.php which showcase the awesome power and torque that this beast produces.

Glide to Live … Live to Glide
BIKERNET GEOGRAPHY SEMINAR–Have you ever looked at a map of the world?Look at Texas with me just for a second. That picture, with the Panhandle and the Gulf Coast, and the Red River and the Rio Grande is as much a part of you as anything ever will be.. As soon as anyone anywhere in the world looks at it they know what it is. It’s Texas. Pick any kid off the street in Japan and draw him a picture of Texas in the dirt and he’ll know what it is. What happens if I show you a picture of any other state? You might get it maybe after a second or two, but who else would? And even if you do, does it ever stir any feelings in you?
In every man, woman and child on this planet, there is a person who wishes just once he could be a real live Texan and get up on a horse or ride off in a pickup.
There is some little bit of Texas in everyone.
Did you ever hear anyone in a bar go, “Wow…so you’re from Iowa? Cool, tell me about it?” Do you know why?Because there’s no place like Texas.
Here are just a few facts and history of the great state of Texas.
Texas is the Alamo.
Texas is 183 men standing in a church, facing thousands of Mexican nationals, fighting for freedom, who had the chance to walk out and save themselves, but stayed instead to fight and die for the cause of freedom.
We send our kids to schools named William B.Travis and James Bowie and Crockett and do you know why? Because those men saw a line in the sand and they decided to cross it and be heroes. John Wayne paid to do the movie himself. That is the Spirit of Texas.
Texas is Sam Houston capturing Santa Ana at San Jacinto.
Texas is “Juneteenth” and Texas Independence Day.
Texas is huge forests of Piney Woods like the Davy Crockett National Forest.
Texas is breathtaking mountains in the Big Bend.
Texas is the unparalleled beauty of bluebonnet fields in the Texas Hill Country.
Texas is the beautiful, warm beaches of the Gulf Coast of South Texas.
Texas is the shiny skyscrapers in Houston and Dallas.
Texas is world record bass from places like Lake Fork.
Texas is Mexican food like nowhere else, not even Mexico.
Texas is the Fort Worth Stockyards, Bass Hall, the Ballpark in Arlington and the Astrodome.
Texas is larger-than-life legends like Michael DeBakey, Denton Cooley, Willie Nelson, Buddy Holly, Waylon Jennings, Janis Joplin, Kris Kristofferson, Tom Landry, Darrell Royal, Joe Da vis, E ric Dickerson, Earl Campbell, Nolan Ryan, Sam Rayburn, George H.W.Bush, Lyndon B.Johnson, George W. Bush.
Texas is great companies like Dell Computer, Texas Instruments, Compaq, Lockheed Martin Aerospace, Home of the F-16 Jet Fighter and the JSF Fighter.
Texas is NASA.
Texas is huge herds of cattle and miles of crops.
Texas is skies blackened with doves, and fields full of deer.
Texas is a place where towns and cities shut down to watch the local High School Football game on Friday nights and for the Cowboys on Monday Night Football, and for the night in Old San Antonio River Parade in San Antonio.
Texas is ocean beaches, deserts, lakes and rivers, mountains and prairies, and modern cities.
If it isn’t in Texas, you probably don’t need it.
Texas even has its own power grid!
No one does anything bigger or better than it’s done in Texas.
Our state capitol building is the only one in the country that is taller than the capitol building in Washington, D.C. and we can divide our state into five states at any time if we wanted to! We included these things as part of the deal when we came on. That’s the best part, right there.
By federal law,Texas is the only state in the U.S. that can fly its flag at the same height as the U.S. flag. Think about that for a second. You fly the Stars and Stripes at 20 feet in Maryland, California, or Maine and your state flag, whatever it is, goes at 17 feet. You fly the Stars and Stripes in front of Pine Tree High in Longview or anyplace else at 20 feet, the Lone Star flies at the same height – 20 feet.
Do you know why?Because Texas is the only state that was a republic before it became a state.

THE DEVIL SCRAMBLES TO COMPLETE BOBBER TO COMPETE IN ER DALLAS SHOW– At this point I am farther along, but it still looks naked because I am doing the electrical work on her. I’ll send some more as she gets ready for the Easyriders show in Dallas!
Holly and I are looking forward to visiting with the Easyriders folks, Rick and Joe T over at Strokers, and then we plan on making our annual stop to honor Bradley with a drink at his favorite hangout with some friends. . . a mini vacation before I dive back into the shop for more madness and to start on the Root Beer Bikernet Mini Bobber.
