BIKERNET ONGOING INTERVIEW WITH SAXON BOSS, JERRY PETTY–What happened to the Mad Jack new Saxon model designed by Gard Hollinger?

The cost just came in to high and we did not feel a 27k bobber would do well in the current market. It’s still on the shelf for the future. But we are about to release a new low-cost model that will fill the Bobber demand. Can’t wait to show it to you. Gard also helped with this bike. He’s amazing, and he’s working on our accessory product line.

We heard you’re doing well in Europe and Australia. Tell us about your plans? I saw a TV commercial the other day of Saxons going down the street with the Eiffel tower in the background, man was that cool.

We simply want to grow and support our dealers with that great Saxon customer service. As well we have Saxons in over 10 different countries. High gas prices all over the world drive folks to ride more motorcycles and Saxon has a blast working with other countries like Australia and Europe. It’s cool to be able to escape this damn desert and fly to foreign lands and ride one of our Saxon’s along a beautiful coast.

Bandit On Big Daddy Roth with B. Boeckmann—Beau Boeckmann of Galpn Motors has a number of Big Daddy Roth Rides including World Hopper, Orbitron and more. Bandit talks with Beau and his passion for Ed ?Big Daddy? Roth. Listen to the show in Bikernet Studio.

Rat Fink is one of the several hot-rod characters created by one of the originators of Kustom Kulture, Ed ?Big Daddy? Roth. Roth?s hatred for Mickey Mouse led him to draw the original Rat Fink. After he placed Rat Fink on an airbrushed monster shirt, the character soon came to symbolize the entire hot-rod/Kustom Kulture scene of the 1950s and 1960s.

BIKERNET TECH QUESTION AND PROJECT REPORT– It?s been awhile since I first sent you pics of my project. So I?ve made some progress and you said to send you updates of the project so I included a few pics. I actually am enrolled in an advanced TIG welding course at Ventura College as I have needed to use a welder for my project.

I am actually a good welder but didn?t have access to a machine to use so I took the class. It was a great idea as my skills have definitely climbed a few notches. And I actually just purchased a new Miller Syncrowave 200 system for my Garage (love it)! As you can see I ?Frisco?ed? my tank and used a Crown Billet Gas from LA Choprods.

The sissy bar (Bare knuckle Back Rest, as I?m calling it) I made by hand and the brass knuckles are vintage from the ’70s. I hand made the seat pan from fiberglass using the plastic wrap over the frame/fender method taught to me by Dave from Exile. Worked great and my local seat guy nailed it.

I just got my hand controls Saturday and put them on. I got Nissin (Daytona) Racing Radial mater cylinders for the brakes and clutch and there really trick. I wanted to go really high-tech, with the front end being off a GSXR 1000 and all.

I actually wanted to ask your expert opinion on a throttle question. I?m putting in an Ultima El Bruto 113? motor with a Baker FXR Tranny and decided to go with a Tech Cycles Cyclone Primary with their killer mid controls as well. The motor has a Mikuni HSR 45 carb on it. I was looking at the killer throttles by Joker machine (the ones for the Dirt bikes as I have 7/8? Renthal Bars). The quality of these Tornado throttles is awesome.

My local Cycle Gear has the double pull one for big 4-strokes and someone ordered it and never picked it up. I could get it at half price! But I know the Mikuni HSR 45 is set up for a single pull right? And per Jokers web site it says that the double pull throttle must use the CFR 450 (honda) cables? So I?m thinking that won?t work? The single pull Tornado throttle is awesome as well, and I?m pretty sure it would work great. As I said, the quality is so good that if I can use it, I?m going to order one, along with there cable as well.

I just wanted to get your opinion and maybe you could give me some guidance on this issue before I purchase something. I also just wanted to say that the Bikernet website is awesome! I always learn from it and it has been invaluable to my first ground-up build. Sorry if I was rambling?

If you like the Joker throttle, I would say go for it as long as you can get a cable that will work between the two. I’ve run almost all the options. I’m thinking about running a Barnett throttle on my dual carb Panhead. I’m always looking for stronger 1-inch throttle housings for my customs. I’m always stuck with this old overseas piece of shit we’ve used forever. Or I can go with internal throttles. There’s more good ones now than ever. LA Chop Rods carries a cool one and so does Empire that I used on my sturgis shovel. Hope this helps.
