FRIDAY POKER RUN TO VALLEY OF FIRE
The Friday Poker Run, sponsored by Red Rock Harley-Davidson is going to be one of the most scenic Poker Runs ever held during Las Vegas BikeFest. The ride is approximately 155 miles and will take you through the desert, near Lake Mead and out to Valley of Fire. And if going on an awesome ride wasn’t enough incentive to participate in the Friday Poker Run, we are going to give the rider with the best hand $1,000. We’ve even got $250 for the rider with the worst hand. You’ll finish the run in the Vendor Village and enjoy a beer on us.You’ll need to be registered with a Friday Fun Pass or Ultimate Pass to participate in the Friday Poker Run. Registration will not be available at the Poker Run check-in so be sure to register in advance.
Please note that there is a $6 per motorcycle park fee to enter Valley of Fire. If you want to complete the entire 155 miles and enjoy the portion of the ride that takes you along Lake Mead, there will be an additional $3 charge ($5 if two people on the bike). You can skip the Lake Mead portion of the ride if you like which will reduce the ride by about 25 miles.

TAKE A WALK – WIN A CRUISE!
Not going to have a ride with you at Las Vegas BikeFest? Anticipate not feeling good enough for a 155 mile Poker Run ride Friday morning after the Thursday night kick-off of the weekend? Want to sleep in Friday morning and then have a chance to win some cash from us? If you answered yes to any of these questions, the Poker Walk on Friday is for you. Fitzgeralds, the sponsor of the Poker Walk has just announced that in addition to the $400 we pay out to the registrant with the best hand and the $100 to the lucky person that has the worst hand, they are giving away a cruise. A drawing will be held at the end of the Poker Walk and all Poker Walk participants who make it to the final stop are eligible. It is a Carnival cruise for two and you’ll have a choice of 11 different cruises. You will need to be present to win so be sure you finish the entire walk and wait to hear if you win.

To top it all off, the rider with the best hand wins $2,000. Everyone, no matter how crappy your hand may be, has a chance to win the $100,000 Lucky Hand prize. At the last stop your hand will be entered into the computer and if you drew the Lucky Hand – well it will be a day you will never forget. JOAN JETT PARTIES WITH HOG MEMBERS–On Thursday August 28, 2008 Harley Davidson held a rally for HOG members only at Miller Park in Milwaukee, WI. as part of their 105th AnniversaryIt ran from 11AM to 10:30PMActivities included a Ride In Bike Show, Service Seminars, Riding Demonstrations and numerous performers.We got there in time for Joan Jett after going through some pretty heavy traffic.
We had discussed staying for Kid Rock but the beer they were serving by then was no longer cold and we knew where a party was SO!
HOG did put on a full day of entertainment and everyone we met was having a good time.

BIKERNET INVESTIGATES FORMER CHOPPER KING, HUGH KING–He missed three Bikernet Board meetings, so Renegade, the constant dismal Dan, brought him up for a vote. “He ain’t the King No Mo’!” Renegade snapped. It took a month but we found the god of Biker Build-offs in Maine, almost frozen to a stack of logs.
“I’m in second month of producing a series for Discovery tentatively titled “Log Drivers,” reported Mr. King. “It’s about a family of nine brothers who cut and haul timber in the deepest forests of Maine…. a risky and dangerous business. Since these guys work 24/7 under very rugged conditions. It’s been a challenge keeping up with them… but we’re doing it. The first of six shows airs in March of 2008.”
By the way most of the brothers are hardcore bikers….some have made the trek all the way from Maine to Sturgis twice. On weekends they?ve lent me their bikes to take scenic short hops… so I’m not out of the loop all together.”

Then edit the whole experience into 3 minute beats and put them up sequentially on Biker Net.”

BOOZEFIGHTERS RAFFLE BIKE TO BENEFIT MILITARY FAMILIES SUPPORTED BY PAUGHCO–A couple of months back the Boozefighters M/C announced they would be building a real world chopper from the ground up with the sole purpose of raffling the bike off and donating the funds to the Nevada County Military Families. This recent photo shows the project is well on its way to completion. With the exception of a few finishing fitment details the bike is ready to be pulled down and painted.
The ?Real Chopper? style reflects the historical background of the club and was made possible in large part to the support of The Driveline Company (TDC), Paughco, Revenge Cycle, Carl Spotts Co, Fat Katz, Tech Alloy and others. Paughco provided one of their awesome Wide Drive Softail chassis, a 3? Wide Springer and wrap around oil bag while Mark Modonna heavily modified and recovered a LePera seat.
The engine, as you may have guessed by its distinctive ram air system, is a 125? TDC backed by a 2008 6-speed with kicker. Revenge Cycle provided adjustable rear suspension, bars, mirrors and lighting and the license mount is Fat Katz?. Assembly is being handled by Carl ?Big Daddy? Spotts and Jeff ?Trashcan? Wray.
Once complete the scooter will be making the rounds at various local venues, where tickets may be purchased. THAT’S A 9-11 WRAP–We should all take a minute to reflect on that day and how it changed our lives. I know the president catches constant heat from our media for Iraq, but there’s another side to that story, and perhaps as history unfolds we will discover being proactive in Iraq will benefit us from a security prospective and all of the middle east. Remember, for the troops that on average 800 have died a year in Iraq while 44,000 people will die in this country this year in car accidents alone. The brothers and sisters in the military might be safer off the streets in Iraq.
I escaped to the mountains and went through every chapter of my first Chance Hogan book. I’m ready to have a copy editor review it then hunt for a publisher. I may already have one in Europe. So I apologize if we missed new content for a couple of days, but that means there’s a pallet of content coming. Sin Wu is about to launch my Sturgis and the Bikernet Brouhaha report, I’m about to launch our first of two Victory Vision Road Tests. A new Roland Sands feature just landed on my desk and I’m about to launch the coolest BMW feature in the Bikernet Metric Area. We’re looking for a replacement, parttime BikernetMetric Editor, but next week we’ll have a new News feature headed that way. I’ll also bring you a tech on Chica’s Wheels and the German Viking just turned in a new Girl of Bikernet for the Cantina, plus I’ll try to edit another world run feature and see if we can’t scrap together a Bandit’s Cantina Soap opera chapter. Another Plus, Bonneville reports are rolling in including a cool on the salt report from Gina Woods and I have another report on the H-D 105th from a little known motojournalist, Sarge the Scribe. Hang on, next week will be full of action. In the meantime, let’s ride.
