OLDEST OUTLAW AROUND CONTACTS BIKERNET–You are correct (The original Wild Ones ). She was one of the original Boozets.

They did not ride on the back of the guys bikes, they had their own.

When we both lived down there, Her- Carson -Me- Wilmington, she worked delivering blue prints in LA traffic on her Harley.

She is recovering from an very serious operation and is not back to normal yet, howevershe still wants to talk to you. Maybe you can write her story.

FAMOUS PUMPKIN HELMETS DISCOVERED IN SAN PEDRO CALIFORNIA–The notorious Pumpkin Helmets gang raided the Smoke Out West, but when we attempted to interview the promoter he refused to comment. His knees were shaking and his face turned pale.

Since the investigation was established by the Bikernet Grand Jury, we have procured these photographers and through a big-titted redhead, former member of the gang, she gave us a full confession and 46 images on the history of the notorious team and the making of Pumpkin Helmets. Hang on for the full report.

DAYNA?S BIKE–Bandit,My name is George Kohler, I own the red ?48 Pan you are running on the site at this time. THANK YOU, for your interest in the Pan and my life story. (well not quite the entire story but all that I will admit to on paper). Funny thing is there are two Phil?s involved with the Pan. Phil Gonzales did the photos at the Torco Oil factory and Phil that I believe you already know from Phil?s Speed in Orange, Ca. He was responsible for the assembly of the engine and trans.

This guy has not gotten the recognition he truly deserves, what a perfectionist and all around down to earth gear head. It is a small world when it comes down to it. To make a long story short , as I said in the bio, my wife does ride her own scooter and it is a rather unique looking Sporty. I.E. Wide glide, 21? front, new sheet metal ?39 beehive tail light and lots of little subtle changes that really makes it her own.

Dayna Trask_32

The entire bike was from her dreams entirely, right down to the paint color and graphics. She is proud of the fact that Harley came out with a copper paint AFTER she already had her scooter up and running. If you would like I can e-mail you some photos and if it looks like anything you can use for your site I am sure she appreciate it. Thanks for your time,

P.S. How is the patio table coming along ?

CRIME FIGHTERS CHECK IN–Superman was feeling bored after a long day of crime fighting and wanted to go out and party. He called Batman to ask if he wanted to go to a club and pick up some girls. Batman said Robin was ill and he had to look after him.

A little disappointed, Superman called Spider-Man to see if he fancied a few beers. Spider-Man told him he had a date with Cat-Woman.

As a last resort, Superman flew over to Wonder Woman’s apartment to see if she was free. As he landed on her balcony, he saw Wonder Woman naked on the bed with her legs open. Superman thought to himself:

“I’m faster than a speeding bullet. I could be in there, have sex, and be out again before she knew what was happening”.

So Superman did his Super Thing in a split second and flew off happily. Meanwhile on the bed, Wonder Woman said: “Did you hear something?”

“No”, said the Invisible Man, “but my ass suddenly hurts like hell!”

DOT PROPOSES NEW FEDERAL SAFETY RULES TO BAR NOVELTY HELMETS–The best-selling motorcycle-helmet decals at a popular biker website include fake bullet holes, skull and crossbones, the American flag — and $1 stickers that say ?DOT?.

The latter has created a problem for U.S. highway safety regulators, because fake Department of Transportation stickers can be used to counterfeit safety certification of cheap novelty motorcycle helmets, which they claim are one cause of rising accident fatalities.

?We?re proposing new safety rules to make it harder for vendors to sell unsafe novelty helmets or for riders to get away with wearing them,? said Transportation Secretary Mary Peters, herself a Harley rider. ?We are proposing to do that by requiring manufacturers to place a larger, tamper-proof DOT label on the back of certified helmets that have been through a wider range of safety tests.?

The current federal standard, implemented in 1974, requires a DOT emblem on the rear of the helmet, indicating it passed certification tests. Manufacturer and model data are located on a label inside the helmet. The new proposal calls for a DOT-symbol decal to be applied to the helmet beneath its clear coating, with the manufacturer’s name and helmet model added above the symbol and the word ?certified? below it.

The new rule also would refine the tests manufacturers do to certify their helmets to meet DOT standards for impact, penetration and retention.

Novelty helmets, which have thin protective liners, failed all the federal performance tests, said Stephen Kratzke, associate administrator for rulemaking at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, but when police spot a helmet that doesn’t look like the real thing, riders can claim they thought the DOT sticker meant it was certified. Sellers of the labels say it stands for ?Doing Our Thing?.

?It makes it really hard to enforce helmet laws,? said Kratzke. The goal of the new rule is ?to make sure in helmet-law states it is easier for police to enforce the law.?

NHTSA estimates that 15% of the motorcycle riders in the 20 mandatory helmet law states wear ?beanie? helmets that don?t meet the current FMVSS218 federal standard. ?It’s a political statement against the helmet laws,? said Eric Anderson, chairman of an industry helmet task force. ?It’s fashionable to be anti-helmet.?

Regulators estimate it would cost manufacturers, who turn out 5.2 million certified helmets annually, only about 2 cents each or $100,000 to comply with the new rule.

Motorcycle groups said the time and money would be better spent, and more lives saved, through rider education and motorist awareness programs. Public comments will be taken until Dec. 1.

WYOMING BIKERS FEND OFF NOISE ORDINANCE–A proposed noise ordinance is on the “back burner” after scores of motorcyclists flooded the Casper City Council chambers. The council voted unanimously and to a raucous applause to table the proposed change to a noise ordinance, which means it will not be discussed again unless a council member brings it back.

The proposed change read: “No person shall operate any motor vehicle in the city in such a manner that the public’s attention is drawn to the noise created by the motor vehicle.”

One biker after another spoke before the council to testify about how “loud pipes save lives.” Loud exhaust keeps drivers aware of bikers and prevent accidents, said Jim Siri, a member of Wyoming Central A.B.A.T.E., a motorcycle advocacy group. ?Many things distract drivers, and if they aren’t paying attention they won’t always see motorcyclists, but they may still hear them,? he told the Jackson Hole Star-Tribune.

Abuse of a motorcycle on city streets is unacceptable, but motorcyclists also don’t want to be unfairly targeted, said Russ Reddick, vice-president of Wyoming State A.B.A.T.E. and co-director of the National Coalition of Motorcyclists (NCOM) in region three. He told the newspaper that he wants to educate riders on how to ride respectfully and also educate drivers on how to be more aware of motorcyclists.

Motorcyclists and the council plan to work together to help solve “irresponsible riding” through residential neighborhoods, both groups agreed.

7th Annual Rally in the Gorge moves up a month in 2009– Seattle, WA ? Sound RIDER! publisher and event promoter, Tom Mehren, announced today changes in the dates for the 7th annual Rally in the Gorge. The event, held in Stevenson, Washington, has been moved up one month and will be held Wednesday, July 29 to Sunday, August 2 in 2009. The rally will be extended from four to five days. For the fourth year, in a row the event will be designated as the Northwest Regional Rally of the American Motorcyclist Association. ?This is a chance to put the rally on mid-season, rather than at the end of the riding season, which should bode well for the manufacturers and vendors who participate,? commented Mehren from his Seattle office.

Since 2003, Sound RIDER! has produced motorcycle rallies in the Columbia River Gorge. The 2009 Rally in the Gorge features activities for sportbike, sport touring, dualsport and maxi-scooter enthusiasts. Prior rallies have attracted national support from manufacturers, distributors and vendors including BMW, Triumph, Aprilia, Ducati, Parts Unlimited, Western Powersports, Avon Tyres, Nelson-Rigg and others. Guest speakers have included David Hough, author of the Proficient Motorcycling series; Nick Ienatsch, lead instructor at the Freddie Spencer Performance Riding School; and Ramey Stroud, founder of the Cascade Endurance Center. Vendor support and clinic instructors for the 2009 event will be announced beginning in January. The rally is held within the boundaries of the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area, an area rich in great motorcycling roads (both paved and gravel), road-building history and stunning beauty that includes Mt. Hood, Mt. Adams and Mt. St. Helens.

Sound RIDER! began as an online motorcycle magazine in 1999. In 2009, the publication will celebrate its tenth anniversary. In 2001, the publication branched into event promotion and has created events such as the 3 Pass BLA$T, the Starlight Foundation?s charity ride and Rally in the Gorge. The 2008 rally portal is at www.soundrider.com/rally. A new portal and sub sites are coming soon.

KRAWIEC READY TO RESUME NHRA TITLE CHASE IN LAS VEGAS–Screamin? Eagle/Vance & Hines Team Puts Championship Experience to Work.

MILWAUKEE (Oct. 30, 2008) ? It has been a long five weeks for Screamin? Eagle/Vance & Hines rider Eddie Krawiec. With two races left on the 2008 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing schedule and a Pro Stock Motorcycle championship on the line, Krawiec and the Screamin? Eagle/Vance & Hines crew have been biding their time since the motorcycle class last raced on September 28 in Memphis. They are more than ready to release that pent-up energy when qualifying begins on Friday for the ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

?I don?t mind a break but this has been a long time to wait,? said Krawiec. ?It would be great to race between Memphis and Las Vegas, but I don?t make the schedule.?

Krawiec lies in second place in the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle Countdown to One championship chase, just 42 points behind NitroFish Buell rider Matt Smith. At Memphis, Krawiec gained 17 points on the leader by defeating Smith in the third round of eliminations. Krawiec then lost in the final round when an electrical failure shut down his bike just after he left the starting line.

?During the break we rebuilt both of the team?s Harley-Davidson V-Rod motorcycles, and we found a broken wire that was the source of my problem at Memphis,? said Krawiec from the Vance & Hines race shop in Indianapolis. ?So the bikes are ready to go, and the team is ready. I?ve never been number one in points, so I think all the pressure is on Smith. He needs to maintain his position.?

The team will be putting extra emphasis on qualifying performance at Las Vegas and at the final race at Pomona, California, Nov. 13-16.

?We are two rounds of eliminations plus two points behind right now,? said Krawiec. ?We?d like to out-qualify Smith at both events and eliminate that two-point advantage. Then we?ve got two races ? eight rounds of eliminations ? to go three rounds more than he does.?

Screamin? Eagle/Vance & Hines rider Andrew Hines is facing longer odds at Las Vegas. The three-time NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle champion is in sixth place, 132 points behind the leader Smith. But Krawiec says his teammate will be a factor down the stretch.

Eddie_Dallas2

?Andrew will be racing hard, and he obviously brings a lot of experience to the situation,? said Krawiec, who is in his second season with the Screamin? Eagle/Vance & Hines team and has yet to win a final in regular NHRA competition. ?This is a team that has won many championships, and I?ve been getting a lot of advice from Andrew and (crew chief) Matt Hines, which has been priceless and made me feel confident.

?We all want to bring home another championship for Harley-Davidson and Vance & Hines,? said Krawiec. ?I hope it comes down to me and Matt Smith in the final round at Pomona, and I need to beat him to get my first win and the championship. That would be something to remember.?

5-BALL RACING’S VALERIE THOMPSON SCORES NEW SPONSORS–Two time Bonneville land speed record holder and NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle racer Valerie Thompson announced new marketing partnerships as she arrived at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals. ByeByeBanker.com will step in as title sponsor of Thompson?s S&S powered V-Twin and XXX Racing Fuel will join as an associate. ?This all happened in one week,? said Thompson, fresh off the road after the long drive from Wisconsin. ?I?ve worked real hard at getting new team shirts, the bike repainted by my sponsor Prestige Auto Works, logos on the trailer, new hero cards and the list keeps going.

?After a major setback with my original 2008 title sponsor, we have been hard at trying to keep the dream alive. Having a little down time between Concord and Vegas allowed us to work at showing these two great companies what their involvement with us and the NHRA can do for them.

“ByeByeBanker.com is a mortgage management solution that is just exactly what so many homeowners need these days to protect themselves from the current economy. And many of you have already heard about XXX Racing Fuel and their involvement with many top racers in the Pro Stock Motorcycle class. I?m so proud that XXX CEO Thomas Goss has added me to their already impressive stable. ?We were also able to take a step back during this autumn break and analyze some major issues we had at the Concord event. The team was determined to find the solution and guess what? Mystery solved! We had a great test session at Union Grove, Wisconsin, with a career best 7.05 ET and 187.42 mph speed. I want to thank my crew Jim Schneider, Rob Schopf, Randy Hobena, Lee Coffey, Randy Crouch and Jerry Cameron for their hard work, dedication and endless friendship. I would also like to welcome business development manager Tony Ruggeri to our team.

?Special thanks also go out to Hal?s Harley-Davidson of New Berlin, Wisconsin, 5-Ball Racing and Bikernet.com, and ?Da Grove Dragway. We have many great memories at Union Grove and would like to thank everyone there for their support.

?As far as Vegas, I?m from the desert out in Scottsdale, Arizona, so I?m really looking forward to racing in a more familiar environment. I also have many great memories from the AHDRA finals at The Strip and can?t wait to get back to that great facility. With these new sponsorships, I think it will be the perfect time for me to qualify for my first NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle field. Thank you to them for becoming a part of our racing world, and we are looking forward to a beautiful future together.?

THAT’S THE NEWS THAT’S FIT TO PRINT–But there’s always more news coming. Where the hell was I? My list is more manageable, sorta. In fact I’m going to drop it here, grab the lovely Sin Wu and head somewhere that serves Jack Daniels and we can be left alone.

Don’t miss the Sunday Post, if only for the sex and bad jokes. Lotsa reports, articles and techs headed our way for next week, if I can keep up. Gotta mention Johnny Humble who helps from Texas, but he’s a lousy mechanic. Ask Kent from Lucky Devils. And I need to send kudos to Mark the outlaw editor running Bikernet Metric. Lotsa content lined up for the Metric department.
