CAGE DEAL OF THE WEEK–Hey, want a really cool, rare, cruiser? I found a ’66 Chevy Impala wagon. No big shakes right? Wrong.
It’s a factory, number matching 396 Turbo Jet! It was a special order back in the day and I’ve only see a handful. Body and paint are original as is everything else. Engine need to be gone through but so what. I’d build the shit out of the engine and trans, detail the engine compartment and leave everything just as it is.
I’m gonna check tomorrow an see if its still parked out back of my neighbors shop.

Paris Cycle Show Canceled–The 2009 Paris Motorcycle and Scooter Show, formally called the Mondial du Deux Roues and initially scheduled for Oct. 1-8, has been canceled.
Held every two years, the Paris Motorcycle and Scooter Show is the largest motorcycle show in France and traditionally has been a launching pad for many concept and production cycles. The 2007 show recorded 383,500 visitors and more than 800 brands on display.
Show organizer AMC Promotion together with participating motorcycle manufacturers announced that they had agreed the troubled international economy would compromise the event. Without the participation of the usual manufacturers, organizers say, “it would not be possible to cater satisfactorily to visitor expectations.”
AMC Promotion says it plans to bring the show back in autumn 2010. That means the event will compete for international visitors with the far larger Intermot show in Cologne, Germany (also held every two years), and the EICMA show in Milan, Italy.

CURTAIN TO RISE ON BELOVED KENO FAMILY JAGUARAT RM?S SPORTS & CLASSICS OF MONTEREY EVENT–American antiques experts and television personalities, Leigh and Leslie Keno to offer their beloved1938 Jaguar SS 100 Roadster 3 ? litre for auction in Monterey, California.
BLENHEIM, Ontario (July 16, 2009) ? American antiques experts, authors and television hosts, Leigh and Leslie Keno are no strangers to the spotlight, regularly sharing their expertise with the American public as furniture appraisers on the popular tv series Antiques Roadshow.
This August, it will be their family?s beloved 1938 Jaguar SS 100 Roadster 3 ? litre taking center stage as it is offered without reserve at the highly anticipated Sports & Classics of Monterey auction in California, presented by preeminent international auction house, RM Auctions.
A cherished part of the family for over 40 years, the beloved Keno Family Jaguar, chassis number 39037, was purchased by Ron Keno in 1969. Ron?s twin sons, Leigh and Leslie, were just 12 at the time however as soon as they were old enough they had full access to their dad?s rare British sports car, using it for everything from impressing prom dates and friends during their college years through to driving it in various vintage racing events.
Though its seasons have been short ? the car has spent much of the past 40 years at the family property in Mohawk, New York where it has only been driven during the summer and fall? it is perhaps one of the world?s best travelled SS 100s. The previous owner shipped it to the US from Scotland and in 1998 the Keno twins took it on the 1000-mile Louis Vuitton China Run, passing such famous sights as the Great Wall of China, Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Additionally, it has enjoyed various cameos on Antiques Roadshow.
Whilst it will be no doubt bittersweet to part with the car at the August auction for it holds a treasure chest of memories for the family, the Keno?s look forward to passing it on to another passionate motoring enthusiast for their driving pleasure.
?We grew up in this car and absolutely love it,? says Leigh Keno. ?But we have others and the reality is that this one is a family car ? we can?t just cut it up into pieces so everyone can still have it. We hope it brings the next owner as much joy and adventure as it has to us,? he adds.
A longstanding summer tradition for vintage car collectors and enthusiasts from around the world, RM?s Sports & Classics of Monterey event was the first and original auction held during the famous Monterey Classic Car week. Now in its 24th year, it is still regarded as the ?heartbeat? of the annual motoring week festivities and one of the largest auction events of its kind.
This year?s event is set to offer over 200 magnificent collector cars for auction, with something to appeal to all automotive tastes. Other notable consignments set to join the beloved Keno Family Jaguar on the auction block include: a rare 1952 Jaguar C-Type Sports Racer, the first delivered to the United States and driven by the legendary, late Phil Hill ? then just 25 ? in the 1952 Sheldon Cup to claim the first C-Type victory in North America; a historic 1931 Miller V16 Racing Car, the only V16 Miller built and boasting a fascinating tale of survival; a champion 1968 Chevrolet Corvette L88 ?Scuderia Filipinetti? Le Mans Racing car, one of the most successful Corvette racing cars in history; a stunning 1935 Duesenberg Model SJ Murphy Convertible Coupe boasting a fascinating provenance including a transfer of ownership involving unsettled US Navy sailors? bar tabs in Mallorca, Spain; and no less than 26 milestone Ferraris, including a sleek 1973 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spyder, formerly owned by legendary LA Lakers player and coach, Jerry West.
Also set to cross the block at the event will be a magnificent series of pre- and post-war Ford and Mercury wood-bodied station wagons from the distinguished private collection of Mr. Nick Alexander, with part of the proceeds benefiting the Midland School of Santa Barbara, California, along with a factory-original 2005 Ford GT supercar, which will be offered on behalf of the Ford Motor Company with a portion of the proceeds supporting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
RM Auctions? Sports & Classics of Monterey auction event will be held August 13th through 15th at the Portola Hotel and Spa and Monterey Conference Center, in Monterey, California. Admission to the three-day event is $40 per person, with children 12 and under admitted free of charge. An auction catalog is available for an additional $100 U.S., including shipping and handling within North America. For further information, please call (800)-211-4371 (within North America) or +1 519 352 4575 or visit www.rmauctions.com

Noise Ordinance Rally overview from the MMA–The riders received an update on the recent court hearing as well as flyers with suggestions about what to do if a ticket is served. Costs of this fight were also discussed. MMA Board members were among the approximately 75 riders and 64 motorcycles that converged on the Hard Rock Caf? Monday night to show support to the five Motorcycle Activists who are fighting the Boston Noise Ordinance in Suffolk County Court. The formerly self-funded Activists requested donations from the group to help defray expenses. The MMA estimates it will cost $7,500.00 or more to legally challenge the ordinance.
In anticipation of this and similar future legal challenges, the MMA has proactively created a Legal Defense Fund. Riders Rally at the Hard Rock Caf? – Boston Noise Ordinance, June 13, 2009
This fund will not only target the new Boston ordinance, but will be used to ensure that other cities and towns do not follow Boston?s approach. The MMA has successfully beaten back similar situations around the State this year so that proposed ordinances did not even go to a vote. We stand prepared to do so again and again. All riders need to be vigilant in their own city or town, and notify the MMA immediately if similar ordinances are being proposed.
What do you do if you receive a ticket? The MMA recommends the following.
1. Note the time and place you were ticketed (take a picture if possible);
2. Take a photo of your exhaust and inspection sticker;
3. Note the time you have in which to contest your ticket and be sure you contest it within that time frame;
4. Make copies of your ticket;
5. Contact the MMA immediately at legislative@massmotorcycle.org or 1-800- 432-1MMA;
6. Make arrangements with an MMA Sound Tech to receive a free sound check of your motorcycle in preparation for contesting your ticket.
Remember, this affects all motorcyclists. The actual sound emitted from your motorcycle is irrelevant because the ordinance is about a ?stamp?. Without a visible stamp, you could receive a ticket even if your motorcycle is parked and shut off! If an official cannot find a stamp, you are in for a $300.00 fine, at minimum $300.00 in court fees to legally contest it, and also six years of insurance surcharges! Whether you ride a BMW, Ducati or Harley — this affects all of you who ride!
We are all in this together and have to work together be sure that this is stopped in Boston! Otherwise, similar ordinances will quickly spread across the State and beyond, making it costly and difficult to ride. The MMA estimates, after consulting with our General Counsel, that Boston?s ordinance will be stopped in court. We will keep you informed. If for some reason, Boston succeeds, be ready to alert other riders and join the fight! Your MMA has a plan and stands ready to win! We will ask all members to join in active support.
For more information or for questions and concerns, please contact either Dave Condon (chairman@massmotorcycle.org or 1-800-432-1MMA) or Doc D?Errico, (legistlativedirector@massmotorcycle.org).

Media show bias against bikers by criticizing safety message– ABATE of Wisconsin, Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke and Hupy and Abraham, S.C. worked together to produce a 30-second message urging drivers to Watch for Motorcycles. All three organizations have the same goal; reduce the number of deaths and injuries to motorcyclists. There has been a disturbing increase in motorcycle crashes due to right of way violations by drivers of other vehicles.
ABATE members and Hupy and Abraham, S.C. organized the video shoot, which was produced as a public service announcement by TV Channel 6, a local station. Sheriff David Clarke delivered the entire message and was not compensated in any way for appearing in the video. Rather than run the spot as a strict PSA in late night time slots, Hupy and Abraham, S.C. donated commercial slots already paid for by the firm to run the safety message. The law firm pays up to $2,500.00 a month to just one station to deliver this message. The PSA now runs on at least three television stations in Milwaukee and will expand to other parts of Wisconsin and Northern Illinois.
A recent newscast on TV Channel 58 in Milwaukee was entitled, ?Sheriff by Day, Pitchman by Night,? and was critical of the fact that the name of our law firm appeared on the 30-second message. No mention was made by TV 58 that ABATE of Wisconsin?s logo also appeared. TV 58 was also critical of the fact that the spot, with Sheriff Clarke as spokesman, was being aired on prime time, insinuating some type of impropriety may have taken place. In fact, as stated above, those prime time spots were already bought and paid for by Hupy and Abraham for commercial purposes. The firm simply substituted the safety message in place of the advertisements.
Some bikers were upset that TV 58 criticized an effort to save biker?s lives yet the station did nothing to bring awareness to careless drivers causing accidents with motorcyclists.Furthermore, the newscast came on the heels of a fatal motorcycle accident involving Hupy and Abraham, S.C. client Robert Perkins. The Sheriff?s office issued the following statement in response to TV 58?s newscast:
?Here’s the bottom line. Sheriff Clarke is trying to change driver behavior so that bikers may ride safely too. PSA?s, like the one here, are a big part of his educational effort. Sheriff Clarke will gladly partner with the business community, Hupy & Abraham, or anybody else to get this important safety message out. Public service announcements are expensive and Sheriff Clarke believes someone other than taxpayers can pay for it. On June 27th, 54-year-old Robert Perkins was killed, KILLED after a car struck his bike. Let’s get upset about that.?
