California Dream Roads: SR 33, 58 and Beyond. By Gary Mraz.

State Routes 33 and 58 are amongst several of California’s dream motorcycle roads. Combined, they represent over 180 miles of motorcycle friendly riding. The southern start point of SR 33 begins in the seaside mission town of Ventura at the Pier. This I know because I wrote the book: “Piers of the West Coast – Travelled on Two Wheels”. (Shameless self-promotion).   The Deck at Eric Ericson’s restaurant at the base of Ventura Pier is a great place to grab a bite and ponder the trek ahead.

Still Live n’ Kickin’ Classics Gather at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

While you won’t find any buckets of Halloween candy, you will find 13 scary cool bikes at Forest Lawn during a special exhibit. Okay, we gotta admit it’s a tiny bit macabre to find a stellar group of antique, vintage and high performance motorcycles on display at a cemetery, literally the last place a bike fan wants to visit. But there was lively reasoning behind the appearance of 13 “celebrity” two-wheelers at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park, the 1906 historic landmark located in Glendale, CA. The museum, part of the 300 acre property since 1957, has previously offered a wide variety of exhibits as they are “committed to enriching the community through the educational and entertaining presentation of artwork that focuses on history, culture or religion.”
