New REAX line of Riding Gear Comes To Bikernet

After a decade of experience interacting with riders and reviewing product, RevZilla has partnered with its parent company, COMOTO to bring to life REAX, a new apparel brand focused on thoughtful design features, within a casual, refined aesthetic that riders will appreciate.

The REAX line of riding jackets, pants and gloves features a wide variety of thoughtfully engineered features and benefits, virtually hidden within the apparel’s more understated design aesthetic. The full line is now available at revzilla.com, cyclegear.com and all Cycle Gear store locations nationwide.

“Our aim was to deliver designs that weren’t overtly technical, but instead, subtly revealed performance features in a manner that was more thoughtful and purposeful,” said Roger Sgarbossa, Vice President, Product Development for COMOTO. “More often than not, truly sophisticated technology comes at a price point that’s unrealistic for many riders. With REAX we wanted to bring those same technologies to a wider range of riders.”

The initial line from REAX was designed to address quintessential rider styles, from the timeless style of the Folsom classic leather jacket to the more casual on-or-off-the-bike versatility of the Ludlow textile hoodie, or 215 protective riding jeans. The line also addresses weather-intensive riding conditions with the Ridge multi-season jacket, pants and waterproof gauntlet gloves, as well as high-performance scenarios with the Alta mesh jacket and pants, Jackson sport leather jacket and Castor sport leather gloves.

REAX offers all the critical performance and protective features riders expect, including reinforced or double-layer impact and abrasion areas, fine-tuned and adjustable ergonomic rider fits, water proof device pockets and integrated reflective elements. But the line is most characterized by the subtle incorporation of thoughtful and purposeful design features, such as a hidden magnet located on the back of the Ludlow Jacket that keeps the hood from flapping on the road, or offering three different knee pad positions within pant designs — all without Velcro so there’s no scratch.

A sharp understanding of the needs and preferences of riders, after more than a decade of ongoing interaction their customers, is what motivated COMOTO to develop its own private label with REAX. The vision for the line was grounded in developing gear that would appeal to the widest range of riders, offering the specific features and benefits they need without anything superfluous.

“We are product geeks and after all the years of ongoing interaction with our customers, it made sense to take that knowledge and perspective and pour it into something of our own,” said Matt Kull, CEO of COMOTO and RevZilla co-founder. “Rider preferences are incredibly diverse, and nothing is for everyone. That said, we’re excited by what we’re delivering with REAX and hope it will resonate with the riding community.”

Bikernet will soon be bringing you a comprehensive review of some of REAX’s riding gear. Stay tuned!
