Buffalo Chip Best Party Anywhere!

Proving it Again and Again That the Sturgis Buffalo Chip is the Best Party Anywhere, ZZ Top Rocked the House Sunday Night

The Sturgis Buffalo Chip has pulled out all the stops in 2013, truly living up to its moniker as the Largest Music Festival in Motorcycling™. The first weekend of the nine-day festival packed in dozens of vendors, countless bands and a veritable sea of campers.

Hundreds of media personnel have also arrived at the Buffalo Chip to document the Sturgis campground’s culture, as well as its jam-packed entertainment schedule. Sunday marked the beginning of filming for CMT, who plans to document many of the events at the 2013 Sturgis music festival. Footage will appear in the first ever CMT Bike Week, which airs Aug. 18 – 24. Film crews were on hand Sunday afternoon to capture the Buffalo Chip Tattoo Competition, which will appear on the network’s program, “Biker Battles.”

Sunday’s performances on the main stage included delta blues band, 4onthefloor, and Grammy Award winners, Halestorm. The final performance of the evening came from Buffalo Chip favorites, ZZ Top. The “little ol’ band from Texas” proved once again that they can still deliver the same high-energy Texas blues performance they originally became famous for over 40 years ago.

The Russ Brown Events Center was also a hot spot on Sunday night, with hundreds of motorcycle enthusiasts and industry leaders taking part in the Sturgis Buffalo Chip’s annual Industry Party. The event took place in conjunction with the opening of the Motorcycles as Art Exhibit, curated by renowned motorcycle photographer, Michael Lichter, and co-curated by vintage motorcycle enthusiast, Paul D’Orleans.

The Buffalo Chip continues the non-stop party Monday with the annual Legends Ride, a star-studded guided ride through the scenic Black Hills. Over the years, this event has hosted some of the biggest names in television, film, music and motorcycling, all in the name of raising funds for local charities like the Black Hills Special Olympics. The 2013 Legends Ride welcomes Dee Snyder of Twister Sister, Jim “Hacksaw” Duggan, Robbie Knievel, Paul Teutul of Orange County Choppers, and Pat Simmons of the Doobie Brothers among others.

“We’re pleased to see the continued growth in support for the annual Legends Ride.” says Rod Woodruff, president of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip. “It’s exciting to have such a large number of celebrities and guests come together to support local charities and participate in the Ride That Rocks.”

Those participating in the Legends Ride will return to the Buffalo Chip in time to catch an electrifying main stage performance from American icon, Kid Rock. Monday’s solid lineup also includes concerts from classic rock gods, The Doobie Brothers, and 22-year-old blues guitar phenomenon, Jared James Nichols.

Campground admission passes are still available and all concerts are free with camping. Passes also grant guests access to the Bikini Beach swim paradise, 25 bars, thrilling exhibits, and outrageous events. The 32nd annual Sturgis Buffalo Chip Motorcycle and Music Festival runs July 29 through Aug. 11, 2013. More details are available at www.BuffaloChip.com or by calling (605) 347-9000.
