Rally TV At The Smoked Out with The Horse Backstreet Choppers

Rally TV had cameras rolling while roaming the dragstrip, pits, parking lots, and campgrounds of Rockingham Speedway in Rockingham, North Carolina. The crew was on scene over the weekend of July 22 & 23 to take in all the sights and sounds of Smoke Out Rally 13. The annual chopper rally, hosted by The Horse magazine, was bigger, badder, and better than ever.

The Rally TV crew and hosts Sara Liberte and Bean’re hit the ground running and never stopped during the weekend of racing, classes, entertainment and music. We were there to document all the wild custom and classic machines with their great looking paint jobs and metal work. The Horse is the only magazine that satisfies the craving for chops, bobbers and creative customs, and all that and more was on display this past weekend.

In addition to mechanical bull riding, the All American Stunters, and the painted lady and pole dancing contests, a full slate of drag races filled the schedule – and the air – with the sights and sounds of the chopper subculture. One particularly memorable moment saw Bean’re in the sidecar of a 1940 Knucklehead for a trip down the strip – and you can take that ride with him, thanks to Rally TV.

“Rockingham is always rocking, and we’re thrilled to be a part of it,” said Sara Liberte of Rally TV. “We’d like to thank the rally founders, our sponsors, those who attended, and those who could not attend, and hope you enjoyed the work we did documenting the event. We look forward to seeing you at Rockingham next year for number 14.”

To relive and reminisce about all the festivities, or get a feel for what Smoke Out 13 was all about if you were unlucky enough to miss it, visit the Rally TV website, Facebook page, or YouTube channel. There, you’ll find videos documenting all of this year’s action, from the mini bike races – including a sidecar class and a matched set of Bert and Ernie participants – on a rain slicked course, drag races, the crowning of “condom man” as best costume, and more. If it happened, Rally TV was there, and you’ll see anyone and everyone sharing their Rockingham experiences with our crews.

“It was the usual packed event weekend for us – shoot video all day, edit all night, including work in the van on the way home,” said Sara Liberte, of Rally TV. “We edit and post segments as fast as we can, to keep our viewers happy.”
