As a product reviewer for law enforcement products, there are good days and there are bad days. Sometimes I test equipment that gets me excited about the product, and other times, I am left scratching my head.
Earlier this year, I tested the Zero DS motorcycle — a stealthy electric conveyance — and I think this product will change the way we look at electric motorcycles for patrol.

The Zero DS Uses a Li-ion power pack (Z-Force Li-ion Intelligent and a double stator, axial flux brushless motor. One can select the ZF-6 model, which will give it a range of 76 miles, or the ZF-9 model, which gives it a range of 112 miles. I tested the ZF-9 version, which, at 341 lbs, has handling similar to a mid-sized bike.
California motorcyclist deaths are on the rise. The increase in motorcycle-involved collisions reverses a trend of significant decline in such collisions since 2008. In response, the California Highway Patrol asks for the motoring public’s assistance in preventing future tragedies involving motorcycles from happening on our roadways.
“Everyone on the highway plays an important role in preventing collisions,” said CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow. “Motorcyclists are encouraged to ride safely and defensively, while drivers need to look out for motorcyclists who are sharing the road.”

Thompson set 3 new land speed records this year in her campaign to become the world’s fastest motorcycle team owner/driver. Her Martech Services Company sponsored S1000RR is now the fastest production land speed racing BMW Superbike after she ran a top speed over 209 mph at the Mojave Magnum event in June. She now holds three land speed records in East Coast Timing Associations (ECTA) events and two records at famed the Bonneville Salt Flats BUB Speed Trials.
