The ninth annual American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association Vintage Motorcycle Festival & Swap Meet, featuring vintage motorcycle racing on-track, a swap meet off-track, Friday night Bike Night, Saturday bike show, music and more, will be held June 18 to 20, rain or shine, at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville. Tickets are $25 for a weekend pass, $20 for Saturday only or $10 for Sunday only for ages 13 and older and free for ages 12 and younger. Besides AHRMA racing and festivities, this weekend will feature the first night of NJMP’s Summer Concert Series. Arsenal will perform in the outdoor event space behind the Finish Line Pub from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. June 19. Food will be available from the pub and food trucks and vendors will be on site. Admission is free and guests should bring their own blanket or chair. Outside food and beverage will not be allowed. Other dates in the series are July 17 and Aug. 14. Laconia Motorcycle Week prepares for return of bigger crowds, vendors

by Andy Hershberger from https://www.wmur.com LACONIA, N.H. — Laconia’s Motorcycle Week will have a very different look and feel than it did in 2020 The declining COVID-19 numbers are making a big difference this year as Laconia gets ready for the 98th annual Motorcycle Week. “It means we’re getting back on to life and back on to what we all do best in the hospitality industry, so we were grateful to have it last year, but this year is especially important,” said Cynthia Makris, Motorcycle Week president. There was a rally last year, but it was a completely different event. It was held in August instead of June, crowds were down and the normal carnival atmosphere suffered. One difference this year will be the vendor tents. Last year, just four nonprofits were allowed to set up shop in Laconia. This year, there will be more than 200 tents selling everything from T-shirts to leather goods. Officials said that alone will be a big draw for the event. “It’s huge this year, especially after all our businesses have gone through in the last 12 to 15 months,” said Scott Myers, Laconia city manager. “And this really kicks off the summer season. It gives it a jump start because schools aren’t quite out yet and it’s not really family vacation time.” Officials say safety measures will be in the form of awareness, hoping visitors are mindful of where the state and the country are at in terms of the pandemic. “We’re encouraging everyone to still remain socially distant when possible,” said Jennifer Anderson, of the Laconia Motorcycle Week Association. “We’re going to have handwashing stations and sanitizer stations available.” Officials said the best way to be socially distant is for people to get on their bikes and ride.

Laconia Motorcycle Week gets approval for parking and traffic

Pre-pandemic parking approved for Laconia Motorcycle Week. The Laconia City Council voted Monday night to return to pre-pandemic parking and traffic flow for this summer’s Motorcycle Week. LACONIA, N.H. — The Laconia City Council voted Monday night to return to pre-pandemic parking and traffic flow for this summer’s Motorcycle Week. Last year, the event was scaled down and pushed to August. There were no vendor tents or big scheduled events as organizers and state officials hoped to cut down on the potential spread of COVID-19. With Monday night’s vote, the council opened the door to having full capacity at this year’s event, which is scheduled for June 12-20. Some council members also want to do away with COVID-19 restrictions when it comes to vendors and beer tents. “Everything is going 100% — restaurants, bars — everything,” said Councilor Tony Felch. “There’s no reason why we shouldn’t open things up for this event.” Others argued there should be some restrictions to limit risk as the pandemic continues. “We’re really asking people here who have health concerns to be totally not considered, and I do think we have some responsibility,” said Councilor Henry Lipman. “Above all else is safety.” Motorcycle Week organizers plan to revisit the issue at a special meeting in the next week or two.

Americade reschedules 2021 motorcycle rally for Sept. 21-25

from https://www.news10.com After last year’s rally being canceled, the 2021 Americade Motorcycle Touring Rally is playing things as safe as possible in order to rev the engines around the COVID-19 pandemic. The 38th annual Americade rally has been rescheduled from its original planned June dates to Sept. 21-25, according to event manager Christian Dutcher. That additional time was added to make the difference in safety confidence for riders, vendors, and the village of Lake George. “We want to make 100% sure that a 2021 Americade will happen, but we’re not confident an event of this size will be permissible in June,” said Dutcher. “But, moving it to September gives us a very high likelihood of it happening. And, September is also a perfect time of year for riding, with mild temperatures, no rain, and foliage season beginning. It should be beautiful.” Americade said that the decision also helped them to secure certain venues, some of which can more easily agree to involvement with more time for vaccines to be administered across the state and nation, and ideally for coronavirus restrictions to be lifted. The new dates also allow riders and visitors to enjoy the village during the fall, not too far past the summer tourist season, without bumping heads against Labor Day weekend. “We’re very lucky to have found a 2021 date that works for the community and for the motorcycle industry,” said Dutcher. “I feared we may have to cancel until Americade 2022, but miraculously we are able to slide it into September.”

Destination Daytona Biketoberfest 2020

The city of Daytona restricted vendor permits during Biketoberfest this year. Bummer. They attempted to shut the event down, but the riders kept coming. A result of severe lock-down meant no vendors at the speedway, boardwalk, main street etc. Events did not happen or were moved. But wait! NH officials remind Laconia Motorcycle Week attendees of COVID-19 safety rules

The state will post signs and even do flyovers featuring the rules of the road in New Hampshire. “We want to remind folks that might be coming from out state to review our travel provisions, our quarantine protocols, and recommendations that we have within the state,” Gov. Chris Sununu said Friday. “Remind them that we do encourage folks to wear masks whenever they cannot social distance. If they are going to be at any large scheduled gathering, there actually is a mask requirement for those over 100.” State health officials say they’re working with businesses to try to cut down on potential spread. “In a large event like that, especially if it’s outdoor … and there’s hundreds of people, regardless of whether you’re wearing a mask or not there’s that risk of transmission is there,” said Health and Human Services Commissioner Lori Shibinette. If someone tests positive, contact tracing could be difficult. “It would be hard to do full contact tracing if they attended a large events at Bike Week, so I would say that a public notification is likely unless it was a very isolated incident,” Shibinette said. And if a someone tests positive after leaving the state, New Hampshire officials would be notified.

That’s scaled down from previous years, where about half-a-million people have descended on the city of about 7,000 for an event that has developed a reputation as an anything-goes festival. While the 80-year tradition isn’t as raucous as it once was, festivalgoers will be largely free of social distancing restrictions common elsewhere in the country during this year’s 10-day festival. Bikers flocking to the small town from around the country won’t face quarantining requirements if they are from a coronavirus hot spot. And masks? They’re encouraged – not required. So far, few people are heeding that encouragement, according to an Associated Press reporter at the event. Many who rode their bikes into Sturgis on Friday expressed defiance at the rules and restrictions that have marked life in much of the world during the pandemic. “Screw COVID,” read the design on one T-shirt being hawked. “I went to Sturgis.” Local officials have made efforts to scale down the event, but some expect restriction-weary bikers to flock to Sturgis in large numbers. “It’s the biggest single event that’s going on in the United States that didn’t get canceled,” said Rod Woodruff, who operates the largest campground and concert venue that lies outside the bounds of the city. “A lot of people think it’s going to be bigger than ever.” In addition to normal concerns about crime, many locals are worried the huge crowds and lack of social distancing rules will lead to an unmanageable outbreak of COVID-19. Jam-On Productions hosted its 32nd Annual Motorcycle Swap Meet & Show. The event featured everything motorcycle related- like parts, apparel and vintage bikes. Organizer, Mark Weiler, said the show brings motorcycle enthusiasts together to shop for the coming holidays. “This is a very strong event, there’s a lot of people here. Probably getting ready for the holidays, vendors are selling so they can get some money for the holidays and people to shop to get some presents. It’s good strong meet for that time of year,” said Weiler. Jam-On Productions holds motorcycle shows all over the country including in Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware.

What’s hip and what’s real? We see it constantly around us. It’s one of the things I liked about being a biker. It was just me and my motorcycle. I wore what I wore for me and nobody else. Most of us looked like hell most of the time. Who cared? Life is changing fast and in many respects I don’t like the business formula thrust on us by many companies.
