Lil’ Ruby: Another addition for The Chopper Saga

by Johnny White Lil’ Ruby is what I have named her, but this came after I bought her from the original builder this Summer. You see, Lil’ Ruby started life as a 2002 Sportster that my son-in-law bought in 2015. He bought the bike from another young man who needed cash more than he needed a Sporty, and my SIL had cash in hand. He rode it home to his mother’s house and estimated he had the motor out of the frame less than 2 hours later. The Harley Sportster wasn’t his goal though. He planned before he purchased the bike. You see, he devised his strategy long before his purchase, and since a Sporty is the cheapest H-D motor he could get, well then that’s what he went with. He was on a mission to build a tight little chopper/ bobber that he could ride through town and not see another exactly like it anywhere. TwinPower Introduces New One-Piece Floating Rotor

Tucker Powersport’s TwinPower brand has introduced a line of one-piece floating brake rotors which offer a traditional look while delivering the performance benefits of a floating rotor brake setup. The new TwinPower units are a perfect replacement for Harley-Davidson models equipped with original equipment floating rotors. A floating rotor has the ability to conform to the brake pads giving maximum rotor to pad contact. Floating motorcycle brake rotors lead to more consistent and predictable braking. The new TwinPower rotors use special mounting hardware which allows the rotors to “float” for improved braking performance. TwinPower rotors are known to be some of the highest quality products available and gives a builder or customizer the look of a traditional brake rotor. The proprietary, stainless steel friction surface is precision, double-disc ground and heat treated, while the edges are laser cut, rather than stamped. All machining is done to a tolerance of +/- .004” with high-tech CNC equipment. The new rotors are developed for TwinPower by engineers who specialize in braking products and are manufactured in Spain. Installation is hassle-free using new heavy duty “floater” hardware that is included in the kit. It’s a direct bolt-on using stock or aftermarket calipers and will fit most 2014 and later Harley-Davidson models with five-bolt mounts. “Builders know that TwinPower delivers the highest quality rotors you can get. Harley-Davidson Regains Number One Position In India’s High-End Motorcycle Segment

It’s a 37 per cent growth in sales as compared to last year. Hero MotoCorp took over Harley’s distribution in India in October 2020 including motorcycles, accessories, merchandise and more. The company is currently operating about 13 dealerships and 10 authorised service centres across the country. Harley-Davidson has witnessed a resurgence in its sales in India as the brand managed to regain the number one spot in the high-end motorcycle segment in the country. The company, which announced its exit and subsequent re-entry into the Indian market in 2020, has been on a road to a revival with partner Hero MotoCorp. According to the data shared by SIAM, Harley sold 601 motorcycles in FY-2022, of which 531 units were sold in the 1,000 cc and above two-wheeler segment. The company witnessed a 37 per cent growth year-on-year. In comparison, only 206 Harley-Davidson motorcycles were sold during FY-2021. When compared to other premium motorcycle brands, Harley was substantially ahead with Triumph Motorcycles India selling 336 units, Kawasaki selling 283 units, Suzuki selling 233 and Honda selling 71 units in the 1,000 cc and above motorcycle segment. The majority of the iconic American brand’s sales have been driven by its new launches, the Pan America 1250 adventure tourer and the Sportster S cruiser and mark a revolution, both in terms of a platform and segment for the manufacturer. Lowbrow Battery Line-Up and J&P about Testing By Bandit, the Lowbrow Team and Anthony Todd from J&P Cycles We found ourselves in the battery market again recently. We ran into a couple of issues. First, trying to fit a battery into an almost stock 1948 center oil tank. Lowbrow has an option, but it involved a very small anti-gravity lithium battery. Unfortunately, they were out of stock. Plus, they didn’t have a gel option. They did have a cool, stock, replica battery case. I did find a stock replacement battery but only in 6 Volt. I needed a 12-Volt unit for my 1948 UL. It had been modified for a 12-Volt system. Then the Lowbrow crew came up with this handy battery guide, so I thought I would share it with an article by Anthony Todd, of J&P Cycles, about testing charging systems. I went to J&P Cycles, but they don’t list battery dimensions on their website. I would think that would be a major drawback to sales, especially involving custom bikes. We all face custom oil bags with odd size battery holes. Or worse, we have limited space for a battery and need to adapt. We need to know the dimensions. Let’s roll through the Lowbrow report. The development of motorcycle batteries has really advanced in recent years. Back in-the-day a conventional motorcycle battery with an acid pack was the standard. You would open the top caps, pour in your acid pack, and throw it on a charger for 24 hours. This was the typical process for a lead acid classic motorcycle battery. On top of that he’s been helping other Sportster riders with their clutch lever pull problems. Recently, Jeremiah challenged Zack to a race on Anaheim Boulevard near the Port of Los Angeles. At 68 years of age Zack found himself flying at over 100 mph in his Mini-Cooper S, the last year with a factory Supercharger, on a boulevard packed with semis and potholes next to the richest harbor in the country. He beat the younger man’s silver Dyna, and fortunately the cops in Long Beach can’t ticket him.
