Royal Enfield Twins FT Heads to Texas Johnny Lewis aims to continue development at the Dallas Half-Mile Milwaukee, Wis September 24, 2020: On Friday, September 25, the Royal Enfield Twins FT ridden by Johnny Lewis will compete again in the Progressive American Flat Track (AFT) Production Twins class at the Dallas Half-Mile at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. Lewis impressed the flat track world when he finished sixth and seventh respectively in the Williams Grove Half-Mile Mains on his Moto Anatomy x Royal Enfield debut. Lewis’ Moto Anatomy team has spent the last two weeks continuing testing the Royal Enfield Twins FT as they look to make adjustments to further develop the platform. After Williams Grove the team gathered valuable insights into the Twins FT and will continue building upon the foundation this weekend. Working closely with Royal Enfield and Harris Performance, the team has been exchanging data and feedback over the past two weeks. “Heading into our second race weekend at the Dallas Half-Mile at Devil’s Bowl Speedway is exciting because we had a weekend off to make changes to the chassis and improvements to the engine,” said Johnny Lewis, Moto Anatomy x Royal Enfield racer. “This is a development season, results on paper are great but progress from race to race is more rewarding and frankly important. In the last few days, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India has announced that they will be launching a new cruiser motorcycle on the 30th of Sep. They have also released a teaser, which includes the exhaust note of this new motorcycle. It has been years, where Honda has talked about entering the sub 500cc cruiser segment, to take on Royal Enfield. As of now, in the 350-500cc segment, it is Royal Enfield which enjoys monopoly with over 85% market share. Will Honda finally give India a fitting rival to Royal Enfield motorcycles on 30th Sep? The Campana factory in Argentina is the first country to make the motorcycle outside India with an investment of some US$ 80 million and the creation of 100 jobs. Besides the Indian company authorities, the inauguration counted with the attendance of Argentine president Alberto Fernández, the governor of Buenos Aires province, Axel Kicillof and the Development minister, Matias Kulfman, who also announced the government’s plan of soft credits for the purchase of the motorbikes in 48 installments at an interest rate half the estimated inflation. The Indian group in Argentina is represented by SIMPA, which also imports other world motorcycle brands, such as KTM, Husqvarna, Vespa, Aprilia, Piaggio, Moto Guzzi and Can-Am. Martin Shwartzm the Simpa group operations head said the three models which are to be built in the factory are the Interceptor and Continental GT (both 650cc) and the world famous double purpose Himalayan, with a 411cc engine. The trickle of 2021 model announcements has officially morphed into a steady stream as more manufacturers have started locking down their lineups for the new model year. Part of the growing tide is Royal Enfield’s confirmation that its Himalayan model will be returning for 2021. It looks like the popular 411cc midsize adventurer will come into the new model year mostly unchanged, though it does get switchable ABS this time around, as well as that ever popular manufacturer “upgrade”—new color options. On its face, those changes sound pretty underwhelming, but then, since its introduction in 2016, the Himalayan has piled up enough accolades and impressive sales figures to the point that Enfield probably saw it as an “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” situation. Royal Enfield Launches Slide School Presented by Moto Anatomy  Johnny Lewis to lead flat track training program MILWAUKEE, Wis (July 7, 2020) — American Flat Track racer Johnny Lewis will host Slide School presented by Royal Enfield, a multi-faceted flat track training program in 2020. Lewis will use a combination of Royal Enfield FT411 and a soon-to-be added FT 650 motorcycles as the primary training tools used in the curriculum. Lewis initially developed the program in India and will now debut at select tracks across the U.S. and also at his Moto Anatomy training facility in Florida this year. “I’m excited to continue building a deeper relationship with Royal Enfield,” said Lewis. “It was a great opportunity to fine tune the program in India while being immersed in the Royal Enfield culture. Niche bike maker Royal Enfield on Wednesday said it is recalling 15,200 units of three models across the UK, Europe and Korea to replace a brake part. The company is recalling Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650 and Himalayan motorcycles after discovering a brake caliper corrosion-related issue in some specific countries, Royal Enfield said in a statement. Upon investigation, it was revealed that this corrosion is brought about by sustained, long-term exposure to riding on roads treated with certain salts, or a combination of salts, to prevent formation of ice during winters, it added. This corrosion causes damage to the brake caliper piston bore and assemblies, and can result in unusual braking sound, increased brake drag, and may impact braking action, the company, which is part of Eicher Motors, said. While this issue has been reported only in a small number of cases, the company has decided to undertake a proactive, safety-related service action, it added. “This is a precautionary service intervention, and will be undertaken across the UK, the rest of Europe and Korea. With immediate effect, around 15,200 motorcycles sold in these markets will be called in for inspection, cleaning and part replacement, if required,” Royal Enfield said. The company’s manufacturing unit at Oragadam, near Chennai, will be the first to begin operations in a staggered manner, with minimal staff over a single shift. Employees and shop floor staff residing in and around plant locations will be the first to work in these units so as to avoid long-distance travel. Operations at the company’s other two manufacturing facilities – Tiruvottiyur and Vallam Vadagal – will be started in a phased manner. Meanwhile, office locations including corporate offices in Chennai, Gurgaon and the UK Technical Centre will continue to remain closed, and employees will continue to work from home, the company said.
