Davey Todd and Julien Toniutti appointed to collaborate in TT2 Isle of Man Video Game

BIGBEN AND KT RACING PARTNER WITH THE BEST IN TT ISLE OF MAN – RIDE ON THE EDGE 2 Lesquin, France, January 14, 2020 – As a new year begins, KT Racing returns with the sequel to the widely acclaimed TT Isle of Man. To provide players with the most realistic simulation possible, the studio turned to one of the best up-and-coming riders, Davey Todd, and the fastest French rider on the Isle of Man circuit, Julien Toniutti. Davey Todd is a young English rider who specialises in road racing and already has an impressive trophy haul at only 23 years old. In 2018, while preparing for his first Isle of Man TT, Davey decided to practise on his brother’s console for two months so he could perfect his knowledge of the iconic 60km circuit. As a result, he was ranked 2nd in the game’s worldwide leaderboards and became the second fastest newcomer of all time in the real race. In 2019 he proved his riding talents in his second appearance at the TT by finishing in the top 8 in all categories and achieving 6th place in the Senior Race. 2020 represents a new year full of ambition for Davey, who is also the TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 2 ambassador and the face of the game. Like Davey Todd, Julien Toniutti collaborated on the game’s production by sharing his experience and impressions with the developers to help them create a strikingly realistic simulation and optimise all aspects of the riding physics. “Competing in the TT is the ultimate dream of any rider. In TT Isle Of Man – Ride on The Edge 2, the aim is to reproduce the sensation of speed and adrenalin, as well as the concentration and control required for any […]

Canton veteran who lost leg rides again thanks to customized motorcycle

by Kelly Byer from https://www.cantonrep.com Challenge America: Makers For Veterans helped Charles Zollicoffer get back on the road. Challenge America: Makers For Veterans helped Charles Zollicoffer ride a motorcycle for the first time in eight years. More importantly, he said, the fall program renewed his faith in humanity. “I was left for dead on the side of the road,” he said. “So, during my time in this last seven or eight years, I have lost a lot of faith in people. A lot.” In 2011, a drunken driver pulled in front of Zollicoffer’s 1995 Kawasaki motorcycle on state Route 800. The now retired U.S. Marine Corps and Army National Guard veteran had completed three tours in Iraq and was scheduled for deployment to Afghanistan. Another person came across the early morning wreck and stopped to help. Zollicoffer, a 53-year-old Canton resident, spent months in a coma and had his left leg amputated at the hip. This past Veteran’s Day, he received a modified trike at the Makers For Veterans closing ceremony. His family’s safety concerns had kept Zollicoffer from pursuing a costly trike, but they talked and accepted what it meant to him beforehand. He’s taken a few rides. “I can’t even describe the feeling, when you get that wind blowing through your hair,” joked Zollicoffer, who has a shaved head. Makers for Veterans The Colorado-based nonprofit Challenge America began the Makers for Veterans program (CAMVETS) in 2019. It brought together volunteers with various expertise to solve challenges posed by veterans. Dallas Blaney, executive director of Challenge America, said the inspiration came from a similar initiative in Israel. Challenge America members participated in the international program and wanted to recreate the experience in the United States. Blaney described it as “human-centered design applied to the veterans space.” The process begins

Segway tries to be sexy at CES, presents new electric motorcycle

by Chris Matyszczyk from https://www.zdnet.com/ Will this be the great victor at CES? Oh, please let that happen. Admit it, you’ve pitied them. The tourists, the mailpersons, the mall cops, the aging techies who now resent the future, they’re all regularly seen on Segways. Some, perhaps in a vain attempt to salvage their image, even wear a crash helmet while they ride the much-derided machine. In recent times, though, Segway was bought by China’s Ninebot. It’s started to develop robots. Well, robotic heads that ride on Segways. Now, though the company wants to make you drool and not because you’re laughing so much. It wants every attendee at CES 2020 to be talking about nothing other than the enormous strides Segway has made toward being alluring. Just before Christmas it released a (possibly) dynamic video of its new Apex. This is an electric motorbike, one that you can ride on a track. Yes, with no one else there but a camera crew. Some may be moved that there is only one wheel at the front and one at the back. More may be excited by the idea that this seems like a bike they’d actually be happy to be seen on, even beyond an enclosed track. It is alleged to be capable of going of going from 0-60 in 2.9 seconds and reaching 125 mph. Some bike aficionados may, however, endure qualms. The Apex sounds less like a bike and more like a one-person metalwork factory. Moreover, the rider in the video doesn’t make it look quite like the muscly monsters that occasionally overtake me on the freeway going 100 mph. (I’m going 65, honest.) He doesn’t lean over very far, does he? Perhaps, though, it’s a fine bike for our precarious times, one that melds dynamism and sanctimony

Alternet Systems Highlights African $4 Billion Motorcycle Ride Hail Market

DALLAS, Dec. 31, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — via OTC PR WIRE — Alternet Systems, Inc. (USOTC: ALYI) today highlighted Africa’s $4 billion motorcycle ride hail market featured in a recent TechCrunch article emphasizing the anticipated explosive growth in Africa over the next decade.  ALYI management sees ALYI as well positioned leader prepared to capture the wave of investment and growth coming to Africa in 2020 and beyond. ALYI is currently developing $300 million in electric vehicle projects in Africa targeting the shared-ride market, leading with electric motorcycles for the shared-ride market.  The company has signed orders for electric motorcycles with a side car to be produced in Kenya for shared ride providers in Kenya.  ALYI has also recently announced a $100 million cryptocurrency investment strategy targeted at expanding beyond the company’s existing $300 million in electric vehicle projects in Africa. ALYI has secured institutional commitment to support an annual African electric mobility technology conference and symposium to advance the deployment of electric powered transportation solutions specific to Africa.  The focus includes environmental sustainability but also overall transportation efficiency applicable to the African transportation infrastructure, economy, and consumer.  ALYI CEO, Dr. Randell Torno, contends that the immediate opportunity for electric powered transportation growth in Africa by far exceeds the electric powered transportation opportunity anywhere else in the world and that the electric mobility technology innovations that will be developed for Africa will ultimately form the foundation of commercial electric powered transportation everywhere.  In short, Africa is the global proving ground for electric powered transportation. Dr. Torno just concluded meetings in London last week where he secured institutional brand name commitment that will serve as the anchor event and attraction at the annual African electric mobility technology conference and symposium.  The planed conference and symposium location is Nairobi, Kenya. York City Police Department receives motorcycle donation

by Valeria De Leon from https://fox43.com York – It’s the season of giving and one York County police department has a new ride thanks to a local organization. America’s 911 Foundation donated a brand new 2019 Harley-Davidson police motorcycle to the York City Police Department on Saturday. Each year, the organization gives away a motorcycle to police departments, this one is the 20th one they have donated to police. Chief Troy Bankert York City Police said the motorcycle unlike a vehicle, helps them spark a conversation with the community and better their relationship. “It gives us a good opportunity to interact with the community without being inside of a car, it’s more personal but at the same time it lets us have some mobility,” said Chief Bankert. “These are people who protect us and put their lives on the line every day,” said Roger Flick, America’s 911 Foundation promotions manager, “and they want to keep their community safe and we want to help them do that.” The organization also holds a motorcycle ride to remember those who lost their lives on September 11th. The York Police Department takes part in that ride, so organizers said they were more than happy to announce the winners of this year’s raffle.

The new Honda Africa Twin to be used at next year’s Quest adventure challenge

Honda Motorcycles Southern Africa announced that the newly-launched Africa Twin will be used at the 2020 Honda Quest True Adventure, an adventure challenge designed to give adventure riders a once-in-a-lifetime experience with the Winged H’s legendary adventure bike. 14 riders will get the opportunity to experience the essence of adventure riding atop the brand-new 2020 Africa Twin, and two lucky participants will get to keep the bike they competed with. If you long for the road less travelled with like-minded adventurers and you are resourceful, independent, yet mindful of your fellow man, then Honda Quest is for you,” says Fourie. “Honda Motorcycles Southern Africa have again partnered with Specialised Adventures, a company renowned for their execution of extreme events, to deliver a tough expedition experience where riders will be put to the test in challenging terrain.” To qualify for entry, interested riders must be residents of South Africa, Namibia, Botswana or Swaziland, and be in possession of a valid motorcycle license. After the receipt of entries, 30 applicants will be invited to attend Quest Boot Camp, during which the instructors will select 14 finalists who will participate in the Honda Quest True Adventure. Entry forms will be available here or the Honda website from February 2020.
