Dominant Wire-to-Wire 250 Class Moto 2 Victory is Martin’s First with JGRMX HURRICANE MILLS, TN. (August 24, 2020) – The second round of the 2020 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship kicked off with heavy rain and was once again hosted by the iconic Loretta Lynn Dude Ranch for the second consecutive Loretta Lynn’s 2 National. Following the morning rain, Pirelli riders opted to run the SCORPION™ MX32™ Mid Soft front and SCORPION™ MX Soft rear tires in both the 250 and 450 Classes to navigate the muddier than usual conditions. JGR/Yoshimura/Suzuki’s Alex Martin raced to his best finish of the season by taking the victory in the second 250 Class moto and landing himself on the overall podium. “It’s a good feeling to be standing back up here on the podium,” said Martin. “The track conditions were pretty gnarly all day, but I felt that I had a good pace going in both motos and I was finally able to put it all together in Moto 2. Getting a good start is huge in conditions like these and the Pirelli SCORPION™ MX Soft did a great job of getting a drive into the first turn.” As the gate dropped on the opening 250 Class moto, Martin was quick out of the gate and rounded the first turn in second. He would quickly take over the race lead before hitting a soft spot on the track and going down. Rider Eli Tomac Starts Strong at Opening Round of 2020 AMA Pro Motocross Championship

Foothill Ranch, Calif. (August 16, 2020) – The opening round of the 2020 AMA Pro Motocross Championship kicked off Saturday at the inaugural Loretta Lynn’s National in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee as Monster Energy® Kawasaki rider and three-time defending 450 class champion, Eli Tomac, captured third overall on the day after earning 7-2 moto scores while teammate Adam Cianciarulo earned 12th overall in his premier class debut. In the 250 class, Cameron McAdoo claimed seventh overall (9-6) in his Pro Motocross debut with the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team with his teammates Mitchell Harrison and Darian Sanayei scoring 15th and 18th overall respectively. Due to the heavy downpour of rain the day before, the Kawasaki riders found themselves struggling with the rest of the field to make their way through the sloppy conditions as Tomac spent a vast majority of the second 450 class qualifying session trying to free his bike from the mud after getting stuck during the opening laps. He eventually managed to qualify seventh, three spots behind his teammate and 450 class rookie Cianciarulo who qualified fourth in his debut 450 class ride. By the time the gate dropped on Moto 1 in the 450 class, the mud began to dry up, leaving behind some deep ruts presenting additional challenges as Tomac battled to seventh in the first lap with Cianciarulo in 10th. Halfway through the moto, Tomac and Cianciarulo raced their KX™450 motorcycles through similar lines at a good pace as they made their way up to fourth and fifth respectively. The teammates began to struggle with the changing track conditions in the latter portion of the moto, losing a few positions as Cianciarulo finished sixth and Tomac in seventh. Fighting fourth place for Sam Lowes in Austria Sam Lowes continued his excellent run of results by scoring fourth place in a shortened race at the Red Bull Ring while Augusto Fernández fought hard to secure another strong finish in eighth. The 25-lap Moto2 race was red flagged on lap four after a terrifying incident which included Enea Bastianini, Hafizh Syahrin, Edgar Pons and Andi Farid Izdihar. It eventually started 40 minutes behind schedule in track temperatures of 44 degrees. In an action-packed ‘sprint race’, the Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS riders Sam Lowes and Augusto Fernández scored important points by finishing in the top eight. After a lengthy delay to attend to the riders and clean up the track, the Moto2 grid was reformed based on the order at the end of lap three of the original race. The restart was held over a reduced distance of 13 laps. 8th, + 9.598 s. The three-time Moto2 race winner used the warm-up session to try a new chassis and rear suspension setting to improve the balance of the bike and immediately felt very comfortable. He set the seventh fastest time. After recovering two places in the first race, Augusto lined up in tenth on the grid for the restart. Having worked on a perfect set-up for the race all weekend, the rider from the Balearic Islands couldn’t run his normal pace as he fought for seventh place. In the end, Fernández couldn’t overtake Thomas Luthi on the final lap and finished eighth, 9.5 seconds behind the race winner. Overall, it has been another positive weekend for Augusto. Garcia Dols battles in group for 16th in Austria The Estrella Galicia 0,0 rider takes part in a tussle with a large front group. Yamanaka places 24th after an incident on the opening laps. Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Moto3 riders Sergio Garcia Dols and Ryusei Yamanaka contested the Austrian Grand Prix at the Spielberg circuit this Sunday. Garcia Dols was in the points for much of the race, before crossing the finish line in 16th. Yamanaka finished 24th after trying to make his way back through the field. The win went to Spanish rider Albert Arenas. Both the warmup and the race took place under clear skies and with a dry track. Temperatures at the start of the race were 24 ºC (ambient) and 38 ºC (track), with a light wind across the circuit. The next round of the Moto3 World Championship sees the series remain in Austria, for the Styrian Grand Prix on August 21-23rd. 16th, +2.866 Garcia Dols’ time of 1:37.268 in the warm up had been his fastest of the weekend. Build Train Race program Ladies Hit The Track

Jillian Deschenes, Lana MacNaughton and Melissa Paris complete first training session After a long hiatus, the female participants of Royal Enfield’s BUILD TRAIN RACE (BTR) program spent two days working closely with American Flat Track racer Johnny Lewis in Viola, WI earlier this month. Three out of the four builders/riders attended the training session to prepare for their American Flat Track debut in October. During this session each rider received one-on-one coaching from Lewis spinning laps on the FT411 training motorcycles based on the Royal Enfield Himalayan and their custom-built INT 650 flat trackers. Jillian Deschenes, Lana MacNaughton and Melissa Paris were in attendance during the training session, which took place at S&S Cycle’s Speed Ranch track. The Speed Ranch is groomed and maintained oval dirt track which S&S Cycle uses for training, special events and product development purposes. Due to current travel restrictions between the U.S. and Canada, the fourth participant, Andrea Lothrop was unable to attend. However, Andrea will be performing a virtual training session with Lewis in the coming weeks. “It was great to finally meet the ladies of the BUILD TRAIN RACE program and we had an awesome time in Viola,” said Lewis. “Seeing the dedication and attention to detail that they put into their INT 650 builds was impressive. What was more impressive was their willingness to learn and eagerness to go fast right from the get go. By the end of day two each rider was using the techniques we discussed and pushing themselves faster and faster, which is ultimately my goal as a teacher.” Lewis provided both on-track and off-track instruction to the ladies, using many principles and concepts taught in the Royal Enfield Slide School by Moto Anatomy program. Di Meglio looking forward to strong battle in Jerez Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS rider Mike di Meglio is expecting a hectic and exciting battle from the fifth row of the grid when round two of the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup kicks off in Jerez tomorrow morning. Record track temperatures that peaked at over 60 degrees meant conditions during the E-Pole session could not have been more demanding for man and machine at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto this afternoon. Di Meglio quickly regained his confidence and consistent rhythm in FP3 this morning after a crash denied him crucial track time yesterday afternoon. The Frenchman’s priority in FP3 was finding the optimum front and rear set-up to launch a strong attack in E-Pole. Rather than chasing a fast lap time this morning he also decided to concentrate on adapting to a more aggressive riding style. E-Pole started with ambient temperature nudging close to a scorching 40 degrees and di Meglio was able to post a best lap time of 1:49.525.

As you can see, we’re not quite done yet, because the number of extreme builds a certain shop there is responsible for is huge. The shop is called Thunderbike, and this weekend we’re showing you a machine it unveiled at the 2016 Custombike show in Bad Salzuflen, Germany. It’s called Grand Prix, and it’s an even more radical interpretation of another build that goes by the name Outerlimit. The Outerlimit was made for one of the shop’s customers specifically to mirror the design and colors of a Lamborghini Aventador. Built on a custom frame, it sports a Harley-Davidson twin cam 120R engine linked to a 6-speed manual transmission, which gives the bike a power output of 140 ps and 190 Nm of torque. Likewise, the Grand Prix too uses the same Screamin’ Eagle, packed in a frame that offers a 1,780 mm (70 inches) wheelbase, 132 mm (5 inches) caster, a steering head angle of 36 degrees. That makes the overall design of the bike pretty similar to the Outerlimit, only there are exceptions, too. The most visible one is the color. Instead of the white used on the Lambo-mimicking bike, this one comes in racing red, hence the name Grand Prix. The wheels on the build are a tad different, too. The custom shop went for a new design, more aggressive, for the rims (they are sized 23 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear) to give the motorcycle a more racing-like look. Formerly classified as the 500cc class before it was transformed to MotoGP, Grand Prix motorcycle racing has not been an environment inhabited by South Africans very often. Before 2020, just four South African riders had made it into the elite class with all three competing during the 500cc era. SA riders in Grand Prix motorcycle racing’s elite class Here we will only look at riders who have reached either the 500cc class or MotoGP. 1 Paddy Driver The first South African to reach the premier class, Driver competed on the Grand Prix motorcycle racing circuit from 1959 to 1965. His best result came in his final year on the circuit when he rode a Matchless to a third-place finish in the 500cc world championship behind Mike Hailwood and Giacomo Agostini. Having lined up in two Formula One Grand Prix Driver is part of a very small club of men who have raced in both the Grand Prix motorcycle World Championship and Formula One. That group also includes legends John Surtees, Mike Hailwood and Johnny Cecotto. 2 Alan North North made his Grand Prix motorcycle racing in the elite class when in the 1975 season riding for Yamaha. The Durban-born racer spent three seasons in the 500cc class scoring nine world championship points in that time.
