Scary Halloween 2019 Bikernet Weekly News

Looks like my offer on a house in Deadwood found a dead end. Maybe it’s not meant to be. Then again, you never know. Regarding The torpedo. I welded the helmet canopy in place and painted it. I drilled the holes for the fire suppression lines to the engine compartment. Suddenly, my 1946 Indian Chief is hot property. We’ll see. And my VA effort seems to be moving forward. Weekend Roundup for October 22, 2019

From the Salt Torpedo to Austin, Texas Another whacky weekend settling in after a run to Austin, Texas and back. It’s cool and I visited with Jesse James. I returned and dove back into the Torpedo. I’m working on my “Splintered Road” screenplay. We are looking at taking the Salt Torpedo to El Mirage for an SCTA event on the dry lakebed in November. The Big Cartel Bikenet Weekly News for October 17th, 2019

New Technology, New Players and New Dreams for Motorcycling This is crazy, I spent three days in Austin, Texas, I saw Jesse James new shop, his projects and guns. He’s keeping the chopper faith and even restoring some of his old West Coast long choppers. His guns are amazing and he starts by forging his own steel. The guy is talented beyond belief. Folks are flying out of California by the droves and landing in the artsy Austin. I always say we need an infrastructure for a growing population. That means thinking out of the box for more folk, not just repairing the roads and bridges. Let’s hit the new. I’m still absorbing my trip, catching up and adjusting to PST. Wonders of the Bikernet Weekly News

Motorcycles are Freedom Personified Forever Hey, This is a strange and wonderful week. Shit is happening fast. Shit is changing fast, and shit will go to hell quick if we all don’t get involved. I didn’t intend this to be doom and gloom, but it just spilled out as I wrote. It’s time we all joined a motorcycle rights group or three and got our boots wet. Here’s my code of the West: We live in the best of times. Our government needs to focus on the people, our freedoms and happiness not on trying to control everything or make everything safe as in Zero. It’s all about control and it won’t work, so let’s be happy and as free as possible. CLICK HERE TO READ THE WEEKLY NEWS – Join the Cantina today

The German Autobahn is under threat

By Cameron Kirby from https://www.whichcar.com.au The last bastion of high-speed driving freedom could soon be outlawed There is a new plan to kill the Autobahn as we know and love it. If a minority party in Germany’s federal parliament has its way, a new national 130km/h limit could replace the unrestricted sections of the Autobahn. Currently there are 5353km of Autobahn which have the ‘unrestricted’ advisory speed limit. The Alliance90/The Greens political party, often referred to simply as The Greens, is behind the move, and is pushing the lowering of limits as part of a package of new measures intended to reduce emissions. “A speed limit would be a commandment of reason for an enlightened society in the 21st century,” said Green politician Cem Özdemir. It’s claimed that enforcing a 130km/h limit would lower Germany’s carbon dioxide emissions by between one and three million tonnes per year. In 2018, Germany produced 725.7 million tonnes of carbon dioxide. Lowering speed limits to 130km/h on the autobahn is supported by the German police union, with the head of the federal trade union Michael Mertens stating: “For us, a speed limit for transport policy reasons is urgently needed”. A vote on the proposition will be held in Germany’s national parliament, the Bundestag, on October 13. The federal parliament has 709 seats, with the joint Union alliance, made up of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU), Christian Social Union in Bavaria (CSU), and Social Democratic Party of Germany (SDP), holding a majority with 398 members. The Greens hold 67 of the 311 seats in opposition. The Union has previously defended the unrestricted speed limits on the Autobahn, including when they were attacked earlier this year. In January a leaked report from a government-appointed committee called the National Platform on the Future of Mobility

Weekend Round-Up for October 8, 2019

Flying to the Desert to Rescue an FXRT I was hoping to have most of the weekend to get caught up on the Torpedo. Micah is having a blast with his buddy’s ’29 Indian at the Race of Gentlemen on the other coast. But he’ll be headed back, and I needed to finish my homework assignments. But I encountered one fly in the ointment. READ THE WEEKEND ROUND-UP IN THE CANTINA – CLICK HERE TO SUBSCRIBE

The Shifting Bikernet Weekly News for October 3, 2019

We Are Living in the Best of Times and should Celebrate I feel a shift coming. In some respects, I hope it’s a shift in the direction of Freedom. We are actually living in the best of times. Everything on the planet has improved for the better and we need to celebrate, not control and punish. More and more I hear amazing stories about the lives of folks around me and the amazing things they accomplished. Markus Cuff played drums for Emily Lou Harris for several years. Then he started to shoot photos of bands in the ‘80s and I started to hire him to shoot tech articles for Easyriders. Since then he’s shot features for tons of magazines and for Bikernet.com ™. I’m working on the Salt Torpedo slowly trying to finish the firewall, the fire suppression unit installations, the helmet cowling and strengthen the front axle swingarm mounts. I fixed my 1969 Panhead, and the 1928 Panhead battery is toast. I’ve had two of these batteries take a shit and would like to try anti-gravity batteries, but they cost a bunch. I may try again. In the meantime, ride fast and free forever! — Keith ‘Bandit’ Ball CLICK HERE TO READ THE WEEKLY NEWS – Join the Cantina Today
