Over 5000 Honda Gold Wing enthusiasts at 42nd Annual Wing Ding event

About 5,000 Honda Gold Wing enthusiasts are expected in Springfield for the 42nd annual Wing Ding event going on now through July 3. The event had to be canceled last year because of the pandemic. The last time Springfield hosted the Wing Ding was 1999, when more than 13,000 people came to town. Springfield will host an estimated 5,000 Honda Gold Wing enthusiasts for the Gold Wing Road Riders Association’s 42nd annual Wing Ding event June 29-July 3. The event was rescheduled from 2020, when it was canceled due to COVID-19. Springfield last hosted the Wing Ding in 1999, when it drew around 13,500 people. St. Louis Street between Kimbrough Avenue and the parking garage west of Hammons Tower will close starting at 4 a.m. Monday, June 28 to accommodate food trucks and vendors, reopening by 8 p.m. Saturday, July 3. Rolling street closures to accommodate a cruise through Springfield will begin at 6 p.m. July 2 and will include Jefferson Avenue and its side streets south of Chestnut Street and Sunset Street east of Jefferson Avenue and its side streets until all of the estimated 300 motorcycles in the cruise turn south into the Macy’s entrance of the Battlefield Mall at approximately 7 p.m. Wing Ding 42’s headquarters will be at the University Plaza and Expo Center, but several events-within-the-event are scheduled, including: A welcome party, 6-9 p.m. June 29 at Jordan Valley Park, 635 E. Riding the 1190HCR Buell® brings another win for Logan [Columbus, Mon.]: On June 26, 2021, Nitro National Pro Hillclimb held races for multiple classes with Logan Cipala competing in the 450, Xclimb, 700, and the Open class. In the open class, Cipala competed on the Buell® 1190HCR. Saturday’s competition was fierce in the open class with the top players being Harold Waddell on a GSXR1340, Jake Anstett on a KTM1190, and Cipala on the Buell 1190HCR. “Being the first trip to this event on the new bike was a little nerve wracking but the new chassis and Buell motor combination worked incredibly well,” said Logan Cipala. “Qualifying on Friday I took second and left my setup unchanged going into the finals. Milwaukee, Wis (Tuesday, June 29, 2021) – Round seven of the 2021 Progressive American Flat Track Championship proved to be a historic moment for Royal Enfield, as Johnny Lewis and the Moto Anatomy x Royal Enfield Team were the class of the field on Saturday evening at the Allen County Fairgrounds in Lima, Ohio. The win marked the team’s first victory since the Daytona I Short Track, and the first-ever Half-Mile win for Royal Enfield and the Moto Anatomy x Royal Enfield Team. “This weekend gave us the opportunity to showcase what the Royal Enfield Twins FT is capable of,” said Moto Anatomy x Royal Enfield rider Johnny Lewis. “The team has been working extremely hard every time out to improve the motorcycle and this result reflects all the effort we’ve put into the program. 98th Loudon Classic a Great Success

LOUDON, NH, UNITED STATES – The 98th Annual Loudon Classic weekend by Mayhew Tools featured three days of perfect weather, fans from all over New England and racing with the NorthEast Motorcycle Road Racing (NEMRR) series. NEMRR is part of the national Championship Cup Series organization and riders from the Northeast, Atlantic and Mid-Atlantic regions competed in a twin sprint weekend that ran an impressive 45 races in total. The feature events of the weekend were the three Grand Prix classes, which boasted $9500 in purse money in total. Specialty Saw presented the Seacoast Sport Cycle Lightweight Grand Prix class and the Street and Competition Unlimited Grand Prix classes. Mayhew Tools was the title sponsor of the featured Loudon Classic Middleweight Grand Prix class together with presenting sponsors Motorace and New Hampshire Motor Speedway. In the twin sprint format the lap times from the Friday races were used to set the grid for the Saturday main events, and the Friday Motorace Middleweight Grand Prix race featured a $1500 purse. Saturday’s feature races were held in front of a fantastic crowd and led off with the two support classes presented by Specialty Saw, Lightweight GP and Unlimited GP. First off were the small displacement machines and NEMRR #1 rider Rick Doucette of Sandown, NH showed why he was the heavy favorite, scoring the holeshot and running a string of blazing fast laps in the 1:14 and 1:15 range on his special de-stroked Yamaha R5. The surprise of the day came from Eli Block riding a strong running KTM 450 motard bike who challenged Doucette right to the very end.
