Former Milwaukee mansion of H-D co-founder William S. Harley was on the market

The former mansion of Harley-Davidson co-founder William S. Harley in Washington Heights was recently on the market for the first time in decades. The home at 4906 W. Washington Boulevard was built in 1916 and designed by architect Charles Valentine. The original estimated cost was $8,000, according to the Wisconsin Historical Society. The Harley family moved into the home a couple of years after it was built. Harley, along with his friend Arthur Davidson and Arthur’s brother Walter Davidson, founded the motorcycle brand. Harley and the Davidsons built their first motorcycle in 1903. By 1913, the company had built almost 13,000 motorcycles. The vintage Mediterranean revival mansion was listed for sale at $399,000. The 3,821 square-foot home has six bedrooms and four bathrooms. It also features a sun room, grand foyer, formal dining room, fireplace and indoor fountain. Throughout the home are hardwood floors, French doors and arched windows. While the home is spacious (sitting a .28-acre lot), there is a lot of work that needs to be done on it. The electrical system needs updating. The bathrooms are all vintage tile with pedestal sinks. The current owners lived in the home for decades and moved out a couple months ago. The mansion will be sold in “as-in” condition, according to the listing. The property went under contract Tuesday, said the listing agent Mike Argeropoulos of Riverwest Realty. Argeropoulos said the buyer intends to preserve the home. Argeropoulos said more than 200 people came to the open house last weekend. Multiple offers were received, Argeropoulos said. The last time this property was on the market was 1976 when John and Camille Shaw bought it for $44,500, according to city records.

Outlander’s Sam Heughan cruises on a Harley Davidson as he holidays in LA

The 41-year-old actor has been enjoying some down time since Outlander wrapped back in June. He recently travelled to Mexico and before heading into the US where today he posted a picture of himself riding around LA on a plush Harley Davidson bike. He wrote on Instagram: “Been cruising in the California sunshine! Thank you @harleydavidson for the loan of these sweet wheels. Nothing beats driving on these awesome bikes, to some good music and an epic landscape! @harleydavidson_uk @westcoastharley #harleydavidson #motorcycle #motorbike #ad.” Back in July, Sam posted a similar Harley picture but instead of LA, with the stunning backdrop of the Scottish Highlands. The picture was for a new campaign for his Sassenach whisky brand. Sam donned a leather jacket as he perched on the Harley – with the number plate ‘WH15KEE’, and over looked a stunning view of hills. In August last year, the actor passed his motorbike driving test in Rutherglen after taking a lessons for over a year. He has since been out and about in Glasgow on his bike and now he posted the new snap in the Highlands while visiting for a work shoot. Outlander is a historical drama television series based on the ongoing novel series of the same name by Diana Gabaldon. Developed by Ronald D. Moore (the Battlestar Galactica developer), the show premiered on August 9, 2014, on Starz. The series has been renewed for an 8-episode sixth season and a 16-episode seventh season. Outlander series of historical fantasy novels is written by American author Diana Gabaldon. Gabaldon began the first volume of the series, Outlander, in the late 1980s, and it was published in 1991.

Unique Rear Wheels on Custom H-D V-Rod

After all, in the view of some, all one has to do is slap on some new, possibly bigger wheels on the thing, massage the fuel tank and exhaust system a bit, and there you have it, instant custom. But the reality is much different and, just like with cars, most of the time a lot of work goes into coming up with just the right combination of elements to make a two-wheeler not only unique, but also capable of sending the right message across, whatever that message is. Because Russians are a no-nonsense people, whatever comes out of the country must scream power and an unwillingness to compromise, and that’s exactly what this heavily modified 2012 V-Rod sends across. The build, called Onik, is the work of a shop that goes by the name Box39, a group that specialized over the years in coming up with insane builds based on Harley-Davidson’s now defunct line of muscle motorcycles. And they also specialize in making custom wheels, as the insane bits fitted on the Onik, just like the ones fielded by their other projects, are made in-house, and not sourced from a third-party garage. Rather small in size for a custom V-Rod (we’re used with 20+ inchers, whereas these ones are 18 inches front and 17 inches rear), the wheels are on the extreme side of things, design-wise, and the rear one especially makes this American two-wheeler look particularly appealing. Back when I was with Easyriders, I left after work on Friday, rolled onto the interstate, leaned over into the left lane and hit it. During those days I rode a performance-engine, rigid frame, Harley. I actually made it to Sturgis from Florida in two days one year, but ended up sleeping the entire next day. Mission Accomplished at XDA’s Bike Bash

DESPITE A POOR WEATHER FORECAST, XDA racers delivered an unstoppable performance for the 3rd Annual Bike Bash at Virginia Motorsports Park. With a tropical storm off the east coast, the daily weather forecast for the Bike Bash was on a magic carpet ride. However, XDA racers WANT TO RACE and showed up ready to rock the quarter-mile. The Millers modified the schedule, and the quarter-mile was humming all weekend. The event was forty-five minutes away from completion on Sunday when a large weather cell came through to end the party prematurely. Four classes will finish their final rounds at the Bike Brawl on September 10-12, 2021 at Virginia Motorsports Park. With 561 entries, the Pro classes delivered with a very tight field of competitive racing, our sportsman racers kept the show rolling with the toughest bracket racing in the game; and the Team Money Cycles Sound Off and Custom Bike Show kept the dial turned up all weekend. Orient Express Racing Pro Street The Orient Express Racing Pro Street racers continued to improve their performance standings as Virginia delivered cooler temperatures for these 650+ horsepower machines. Justin Shakir took the number one qualifying spot on Friday night with a 6.505 before Rodney Williford knocked Shakir down a rung on Saturday with a 6.464 pass. During the Saturday qualifying session Darion Payne improved his personal best ET to a 6.652 and broke the 220mph barrier with a 221.42mph run. Curtis Brown also improved with a 7.011, and we expect to see his first six-second pass at the next race. In round one of eliminations, James Waugh poked his head into the 220mph barrier running 220.33mph and improving his ET to a 6.601 while winning over Ryan Hable.
