Lemonade Stand of 8-year old is popular attraction at Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

by Brie Stimson from https://www.foxnews.com Sturgis Motorcycle Rally a boon for boy, 8, running ‘donations only’ lemonade stand. Young Wyatt Dennis says he’s saving half the money for college, donating some to a children’s hospital — and having some fun with the rest. A motorcycle-loving 8-year-old’s roadside lemonade stand has become a popular attraction at the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally kicking off this weekend in South Dakota. Wyatt Dennis opened the stand last year to earn a little money toward a Lego set he wanted, according to FOX 9 in Minneapolis. By the end of the day, he had earned the money plus $200 for St. Jude Children’s Hospital. “So now, 50% goes to college, 30% goes to St. Jude and the rest goes to — last year it was Legos, this year it’s a dirt bike,” Dennis told FOX 9. This year, Dennis’ entrepreneurial venture went viral after someone staying at a nearby campground posted about him on social media, allowing him to raise $4,500 for the children’s hospital so far. Dennis doesn’t charge for the lemonade but donations are appreciated, according to FOX 9. “If you are traveling between Rapid City and Sturgis on your bike, stop by the Tilford road exit!!” Derek Swain posted on Facebook last Monday. “There is a motorcycle loving little boy who is giving away free lemonade and water to any and every one. Please stop by and give him a huge thank you and show off your rides!!! The lemonade is DELICIOUS!!!! Also, tip the damn kid, it’s hot out, and he’s gonna need to start saving now for that Harley.” After Swain found out Dennis was donating most of the money to the hospital and for his college, he added, “Get out there and support a kid doing some good in […]

Harley-Davidson dealer giving away custom bike to support Sioux nonprofit

by Dillon Adams from https://www.siouxlandproud.com SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The 81st Sturgis Motorcycle Rally kicks off Friday in the Black Hills of South Dakota but before then, Rooster’s Harley-Davidson is hoping to raise money from bikers to help a local nonprofit. The bike isn’t any regular Harley-Davidson though. The Harley is known as the knucklehead collaborative build and is being raffled off for $50 a ticket. All proceeds from the raffle will benefit Sioux City’s Camp High Hopes. The fully custom bike was designed after a public vote. “We did like a people’s choice. We voted online, voted in store, we had giveaways, so the people kind of helped us put this bike together. We voted on seats, handlebars, taillights, the paint color, pretty much every nut and bolt got touched by everybody but us,” said Riley Jasa, of Rooster’s H-D. The bike was completed earlier this week. Tickets can be purchased at Rooster’s or at Camp High Hopes, as well as their Facebook pages. The winner will be drawn at the annual Miles for Smiles poker run on September 11. Tickets are still available for purchase! These tickets give you a chance to win this knucklehead and all proceeds go to benefit Camp High Hopes in Sioux City! Charity motorcycle ride raises more than $95,000

by Vincent Ball from https://www.brantfordexpositor.ca Organizers of the charity motorcycle run for Lansdowne Children’s Centre are sending a virtual “wheelie” to their supporters. “We raised $95,663 and we can’t thank people enough for all of their support,” said Angie Turnbull, director of philanthropy, at the Lansdowne Children’s Centre Foundation, the centre’s fundraising arm. “We had so many people, so many businesses step up this year to help out. “It’s really quite heartwarming.” Organizers of the virtual ride held during July had hoped to raise $70,000, up from the $33,000 generated by last year’s virtual ride. The last time the event was held in-person was in 2019 when $62,000 was raised. This year’s event was boosted by the sale of raffle tickets to win a motorcycle provided by Harley-Davidson Cambridge, Turnbull said. “We were really worried about how we were going to sell raffle tickets but when people heard about our concerns they responded,” shel said. “A lot of businesses called and offered us space to sell the tickets and that was a really big help.” Turnbull said 42 riders participated in the virtual event. Past rides have attracted from 280 to 400 riders. “We’re thrilled with the results but the big winners are the 3,000 children we support.” Lansdowne provides a range of services to children with physical, communication or developmental challenges in Brantford and Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk counties. It receives government funding for programs such as occupational, speech and language therapy and physiotherapy. Money raised by the foundation through events, such as the motorcycle ride, goes to support recreational programs such as cooking, gardening and camping. In addition to building the self-confidence of the children, the programs enable them to safely socialize with other children and provides some respite for parents.

Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride global success this year

by Otilia Drăgan from https://www.autoevolution.com DGR’s Lucky Winner to Take Home the Special Edition DGR x Triumph Thruxton RS Triumph marked another year of its long-time support for the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR), making this year’s event even more memorable thanks to the special edition DGR x Triumph Thruxton RS that will be awarded to the lucky winner. DGR is a one-of-a-kind event in many ways, but mostly because it blends 2 unique features. On one hand, it gives motorcycle lovers the chance to dress up and ride in amazing classic and retro-styled outfits, and on the other hand, it’s a charitable event that raises awareness and funds for prostate cancer research and men’s mental health. This year, the DGR celebrated 10 years since it’s been inspiring like-minded people from all-over the world to take their bike out for a noble and stylish ride. The main event took place on May 23rd and the fundraiser was closed on June 6. Over $4 million were raised, plus an $113,000 contribution from Triumph Team that added almost 300 riders to the event. An impressive number of 65,000 motorcycle riders participated at this year’s DGR, from more than 900 cities throughout the world. Whether it was because people were eager to be outside again, or because 3 separate ride formats replaced last year’s single format, what’s certain is that men and women all around the globe really came through for the event’s special anniversary. And so did Triumph, who announced a month ago that it would be presenting a one-off Thruxton RS during the event. This special edition bike is now displayed at the Triumph Factory Visitor Experience and the lucky winner of the ride’s famous Gentlefolk competition will get to take it home. Not many details were revealed about this celebratory model,

Auction of Triumph Scrambler 1200 Steve McQueen Edition

by Daniel Patrascu from https://www.autoevolution.com Steve McQueen was an alumni of non-profit organisation Boys Republic and this motorcycle has the unique serial number matching from his bike. Triumph Scrambler 1200 Steve McQueen Selling for Charity with Unique Perks In April 2021, British bike maker Triumph announced the launch of the “highest specification Scrambler 1200 produced to date.” We’re talking about the limited edition Steve McQueen version, scheduled to hit the market this month. One of them is being auctioned off by Triumph, via the Mecum sale in Monterey in August, to benefit a non-profit dedicated to troubled youngsters. The California-based organization is called Boys Republic, and Steve McQueen himself was a 1946 alumnus of the group. The bike to be sold is serial number 0278, a number that matches the number plate McQueen used on his bike in the 1964 International Six Days Trial. Moreover, it is being sold with a unique certificate of authenticity with the signatures of Steve’s son, Chad, and Triumph CEO Nick Bloor. As an extra perk, the buyer of the motorcycle will also receive an invitation to the annual dinner of the Steve McQueen Car and Motorcycle Show. Other than that, the bike is just like the other 999 slotted for production. It was designed to be reminiscent of the Triumph TR used in the 1963 movie The Great Escape, and comes powered by a 1200cc Bonneville twin engine. The two-wheeler comes painted in Competition Green, like all others of its breed, but also boasts gold lining and heritage Triumph logos. Engine protection dresser bars, pressed aluminum radiator guard with laser etched Triumph branding, and a brown bench seat with stitched ribbing are also part of the deal. Unlike the bike it is inspired by though, this one comes with a few modern-day appointments, including
