Annual Motorcycle Ride for Toys for Tots to Begin October 24

Toys for Tots begins collections for holiday season during motorcycle run. As a child, there is nothing quite as exciting as waking up on Christmas morning with presents under the tree. However, not every child gets to experience that feeling. The Toys for Tots campaign works to change that. Assistant Program Coordinator Paul Caputo and Maj. Mike Schroeder discuss the campaign and how it’s making a difference in the lives of local children. A program by the US Marine Corps Reserve, Toys for Tots strives to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November, and December every year and to distribute them as Christmas gifts to children in need within the community. On Sunday, Oct. 24, the 17th Annual Ride for Toys for Tots will kick off the season at the Super Walmart located on 528 and Enchanted Hills. Registration for the motorcycle ride starts at 9 a.m. with a ride to Thunderbird Harley-Davidson at 5000 Alameda Blvd. for an afterparty. The entry fee to the event is an unwrapped gift. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF KANOPOLIS, ELLSWORTH COUNTY, KANSAS: The purpose of this Ordinance is to protect the health, safety, property and well-being of the citizens of Kanopolis by regulating the use of off-road motorcycles in the city which may endanger the safety of persons driving, bicycling or walking on the roads, the safety of motorists, cyclists or pedestrians, the safety of its operators, and which may disturb the use and enjoyment of land. This section shall apply throughout the city, both on and off streets and highways and on all public and private land. • Sec. 1. – Definition. The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this section, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning: Off-road motorcycle or dirt bike means any motorized nonhighway vehicle traveling on two tires, and having a seat designed to be straddled by the operator, and/or any motorcycle licensed for highway travel being utilized off of a street, roadway or improved surface. • Sec. 2. – Unsafe use of off-road motorcycles prohibited. The following practices constitute unsafe use of off-road motorcycles in the city: (1) Use of an off-road motorcycle one-half hour after sunset to one-half hour before sunrise without headlights and rear lights installed and illuminated. The 27th Annual Miracle Ride for Riley Hospital

The ride was a two day, state-wide event to raise funds for Riley. Registration began early Saturday morning before riders took off to enjoy a fabulous summer ride from across the state. Valparaiso was one of the six starting points throughout the state, with the finish line for everyone being Indianapolis. The second day of the event included The Big Ride in which all participants rode around the city. While the Ride itself started in 1994, the event was a first for the Valparaiso location. In past years, Harley-Davidson of Calumet served as Northwest Indiana’s starting point, but since its closing its doors in 2020, Valparaiso Harley-Davidson has stepped in to host. Harley-Davidson of Valparaiso was also deemed a Poker Start, which allowed riders to participate in a poker run. In a poker run, riders played a game of five card stud against other winners for a chance to win $500. In addition, raffles were held and included a 2020 Low Rider as the grand prize. Two UBCO electric motorcycles were also raffled for most money raised and runner-up for most money raised. The Ride was one of many events held by the Miracle Ride Foundation, all of which benefit Riley Hospital for Children. The hospital is the only one in Indiana dedicated specifically to helping sick children. The 13th Annual Cruisin’ for Kids kicked off on Saturday August 14, 2021, off Clinton Highway, benefiting the Mission of Hope’s efforts to support families in need. KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Engines roared down the highway in Knoxville over the weekend as trucks, cars and motorcycles gathered for an event meant to help children in need. It was the 13th Annual Cruisin’ for Kids event benefiting the Mission of Hope’s work to support families in need across East Tennessee. The event wasn’t just to help raise funds for the nonprofit, though. It was also a competition to see who had the best vehicles in a variety of categories. Awards included categories like the Top 3 Rat Rods, the Top 3 Motorcycles, the Top 3 Trucks, the Top 3 imports, the Top 3 Daily Drivers, the People’s Choice Award and the Best Unfinished. “Our money is raised through registration for cars, we have a silent auction and we sell t-shirts,” said Mary Anne Gamble, an organizer of the event. Charity motorcycle ride raises more than $95,000

by Vincent Ball from https://www.brantfordexpositor.ca Organizers of the charity motorcycle run for Lansdowne Children’s Centre are sending a virtual “wheelie” to their supporters. “We raised $95,663 and we can’t thank people enough for all of their support,” said Angie Turnbull, director of philanthropy, at the Lansdowne Children’s Centre Foundation, the centre’s fundraising arm. “We had so many people, so many businesses step up this year to help out. “It’s really quite heartwarming.” Organizers of the virtual ride held during July had hoped to raise $70,000, up from the $33,000 generated by last year’s virtual ride. The last time the event was held in-person was in 2019 when $62,000 was raised. This year’s event was boosted by the sale of raffle tickets to win a motorcycle provided by Harley-Davidson Cambridge, Turnbull said. “We were really worried about how we were going to sell raffle tickets but when people heard about our concerns they responded,” shel said. “A lot of businesses called and offered us space to sell the tickets and that was a really big help.” Turnbull said 42 riders participated in the virtual event. Past rides have attracted from 280 to 400 riders. “We’re thrilled with the results but the big winners are the 3,000 children we support.” Lansdowne provides a range of services to children with physical, communication or developmental challenges in Brantford and Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk counties. It receives government funding for programs such as occupational, speech and language therapy and physiotherapy. Money raised by the foundation through events, such as the motorcycle ride, goes to support recreational programs such as cooking, gardening and camping. In addition to building the self-confidence of the children, the programs enable them to safely socialize with other children and provides some respite for parents.

Over 100 motorcycles roll in to benefit Cleveland Clinic pediatrics

Riders arrived at the hospital around 1:30 p.m. The Community West Foundation, Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital and Rock-In-Roll City Harley-Davidson held the event. The mission of Community West Foundation is to advance the health and well-being of the community. The staff and Board of Directors are guided by the words in Matthew 25:35-40: “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me… Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Many police departments were there as well to support the event: Beachwood police, Fairview Park police, Cleveland police, Bratenhal police, Cuyahoga County Sheriffs Department, Lorain County Sheriffs Department and Rocky River police.
