Kawasaki Doubles Down To Capture AMA Pro Motocross Championships in the 250 and 450 Classes

Foothill Ranch, Calif. (August 24, 2019) – Monster Energy®/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider Adam Cianciarulo captured his first AMA Pro Motocross 250 title aboard his KX™250 this weekend in Crawfordsville, Indiana.

Cianciarulo began his championship campaign by winning the overall in the first four rounds. Cianciarulo’s dominant performance all season long was displayed through his grit, determination, and consistency, never finishing off the overall podium during the season.

The title is the 15th 250 class motorcross championship for Kawasaki, the most 250 class motocross championships of any manufacturer. Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Eli Tomac clinched the 450 class title last weekend at Budds Creek, leading Team Green to the first brand sweep of both motocross classes since Kawasaki achieved the same feat in 2011.

Kawasaki Rider Eli Tomac Captures Third Consecutive Pro Motocross Championship

(August 17, 2019) – Monster Energy® Kawasaki rider Eli Tomac and his KX™450 earned his third consecutive AMA Pro Motocross Championship at the penultimate round of the series in Mechanicsville, Maryland. Tomac scored fo five overall wins this season and captured 10 moto wins in total. Tomac cements his legacy as only the fourth rider in history to win three consecutive motocross titles. The title is Kawasaki’s 14th 450 class motocross championship, more than any other manufacturer.

To get it done today and a race early is amazing! Honestly, when I crossed the line I didn’t know I had gotten the championship. To go three championships in a row is pretty special and something I am proud of. Each championship has been special in its own right, but man am I happy we got it done today. Another Successful Year at Loretta Lynn’s for Kawasaki Team Green

Foothill Ranch, Calif. (August 5, 2019) – Kawasaki Team Green™ wrapped up the 37th Annual AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships at Loretta Lynn’s Dude Ranch, in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee with plenty to celebrate. Team Green left the ranch with five championships, 11 overall podium finishes, and 14 moto wins.

The Team Green squad of Krystian Janik and Drew Adams contested the 85cc (10-12) and the 85cc (10-12) Limited classes aboard their KX™85 motorcycles. The Team Green duo occupied the podium throughout the week, however, one bad moto for each of them would ultimately hinder their overall results, but they showed they had the speed to compete with the best in the country in the 85cc class. Adams was able to secure second place overall in the 85cc (10-12) Limited class with fellow Team Green rider Thor Powell rounding out the top-5 in fifth.

Ryder DiFrancesco donned the No. 1 on his KX™85 for Team Green in the Mini Sr. 1 class as reigning champion and No. 99 in Mini Sr. 2 class. In the last Mini Sr. 2 moto, DiFrancesco looked poised to grab the championship with his 2-1 moto scores, and rocketed out of the gate to the first corner grabbing the holeshot, but he fell in the ensuing corner. From last position, the California native scratched and clawed his way back to the front of the pack. At the half way point of the race, DiFrancesco had brought the crowd to their feet as he ran the fastest lap of the week in the Mini Sr. classes, four seconds faster than any rider. After moving into third place, a crash on the last lap ultimately dropped him to fifth where 2-1-5 moto scores placed him third overall in the championship standings. Coming into the final moto of the week after suffering some misfortune in the Mini Sr. 1 (12-14) class, DiFrancesco made a statement to his competitors by winning the final moto in dominant fashion.

Stilez Robertson led the charge for Monster Energy Team Green big bike riders aboard his KX™250, battling for wins and championships in both the 250 B and Schoolboy 2 (12-17) B/C divisions. Robertson set the tone early in the week by winning the first 250 B moto and made it known that he was one of the fastest at the ranch in 2019. His consistency throughout the week was what ultimately earned him the championship in the 250 B class with 1-2-2 scores, and 3-5-2 scores in the Schoolboy 2 class that were good enough for second place overall in the championship battle.

Just as he has done all year long at other major amateur nationals, the No. 55 green machine of Dylan Cunha won in dominant fashion throughout the week. In the 250 C class he was able to remain perfect the entire week by sweeping the class with 1-1-1 moto scores. In the 250 C Jr. (12-17) class, a bad crash in his second moto hindered his overall results but was still able to manage a 10th place overall finish in the class.

John Grewe would once again win the Masters 50+ championship for the fourth consecutive year. Grewe also placed his Babbitt’s Online Kawasaki KX™450 on the podium with a second overall in the Senior 40+ class with 2-2-2 scores, while fellow Team Green riders Gregory Pamart and Ryan Valade rounded out the top five behind Grewe.

In the vet classes it was not only about Team Green’s Grewe who had success, in the Senior 45+ class there was a first time Loretta Lynn’s champion crowned by the name of John Bowlin aboard his KX™450. Bowlin sat with a 1-1 score heading into the final moto of the week and was put to the test as the Tennessee skies darkened and the rain began to engulf the track. Despite the conditions, Bowlin was bound and determined to capture his first ever championship and did just that by sweeping the Senior 45+ class with perfect scores. Fellow Team Green rider Don Boespflug joined Bowlin on the podium with 3-5-2 scores, earning a second place overall in the class.

Joining Grewe and Bowlin in the vet championships was Nicholas Hayes who captured the Vet 30+ championship with consistent riding throughout the week. But much like his competitors, he would be forced to overcome adversity. After finishing first and third in his first two motos, Hayes pulled into “Greenville” seeking the aid of the Kawasaki Trackside Support team. The team quickly got him and his machine back to race ready. Hayes went on to win the final moto and the championship, stating “none of this would have been possible without the help yesterday from Kawasaki Team Green’s Trackside support crew. I can’t thank those guys enough!” Fellow Team Green rider Taylor Painter joined in on the action with a third place overall finish in the Vet 30+ class.

“It’s always great coming to Loretta Lynn’s,” said Team Green Manager, Ryan Holliday. “We enjoy catching up with so many of our Kawasaki racers and families from coast to coast. We strive to give them the best experience and support that our Team Green staff can provide. Privateer John Short Captures Career-Best Finish in the 450 Class

MILLVILLE, Min. (July 23, 2019) – The eighth round of the 2019 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship kicked off under heavy thunderstorms at Spring Creek Motocross Park for the annual Spring Creek National. Following the morning rain, Pirelli riders opted to run the SCORPION™ MX32™ Mid Soft front and SCORPION™ MX Soft rear tires in both the 250 Class and 450 Class. JGRMX/Yoshimura/Suzuki Factory Racing’s Alex Martin raced to his best finish of the season in front of his home crowd, while TPJ Racing’s John Short earned a career-best result.

As the gate dropped on the opening 250 Class moto, Martin completed the opening lap in third aboard his Suzuki RM-Z250 and set his sights on the riders in front of him. With the 30-minute-plus-two-lap moto winding down, Martin closed in on second, eventually making the pass and holding the position until the checkered flag for his third podium of the season.

At the onset of the 250 Moto 2, Martin launched out of the gate with his SCORPION™ MX tires and narrowly missed out on the holeshot, but was forced off of the track exiting the first turn and rejoined the race just outside of the top five. Martin continued his march towards the front, picking off riders one-by-one until he got into second. At the conclusion of the moto, race officials made the decision to dock Martin a single position for his excursion off of the track in turn one, giving him third in the moto. The 2-3 scores helped Martin capture a season-best second place overall.

“It felt awesome to earn a second place overall finish at my home national here at Spring Creek Motocross Park,” said Martin. “Having the Pirelli SCORPION™ MX Soft rear tire was a big advantage in the sandy, muddy conditions that we faced this weekend. The motos went very well, with two second place finishes. It was unfortunate to get docked a position in the second moto. I’m excited with how things have been progressing.”

In the 450 Class, JGRMX support rider Isaac Teasdale launched out of the gate to take a commanding holeshot in 450 Moto 1.  As the 40-rider field completed the opening lap, Short moved in to third, followed by Teasdale in fourth and JGRMX/Yoshimura/Suzuki Factory Racing’s Freddie Noren in seventh. When the checkered flag waved, Short held on to take sixth, resulting in the best moto finish of his career. Noren was just behind in seventh.

The final 450 moto of the afternoon once again saw Short get off to another strong start in third and Noren in seventh. Short continued his impressive efforts by finishing eighth. Misfortune struck Noren in the middle of the moto as he struck a downed rider on the landing of a jump and crashed. Fortunately, he was able to quickly remount and put in a charge to take a hard-fought 11th. Short finished a career-best seventh overall (6-8), awarding him top finishing privateer honors on the day. Noren ended the day eighth overall (7-11).

“This weekend was a great confidence builder for me,” said Short. “The two good starts were huge! I’ve never had a top five start at an outdoor national, so I was thrilled to get that experience racing up front in the top three for a little bit. It definitely fires me up and makes me want to keep working hard and improving so that I can continue to move forward!”

The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship heads to Washougal Motocross Park in Washougal, Washington next Saturday, July 27 for round nine.

WorldSBK U.S. Round: Rea Wins the Superpole Race, but Yields to Davies in Race 2, While Bautista has a Weekend to Forget and Pirelli Achieves Satisfaction with the New SCX Solution

Sixth Race Win in a Row for Rea who Pulls Ahead in the Championship by 81 Points over Bautista

SALINAS, California (July 14, 2019) – The Californian weekend of the MOTUL FIM World Superbike Championship, hosted by the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, ended with two wins for Jonathan Rea and Kawasaki and one for Chaz Davies on Ducati.

After winning Race 1 on Saturday, the four-time World Champion of Rea also won the Tissot Superpole® Race on Sunday morning, but was unable to defeat Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati / Ducati Panigale V4 R) in Race 2. On the other hand, for the other rider representing the manufacturer from Borgo Panigale, Álvaro Bautista, it was a weekend to forget with a crash in Race 1 and a DNF in Race 2 when he was forced to retire on the third lap. The Spaniard, who was the favorite for the world title in the early part of the year, is now 81 points behind Rea and will be forced to make a difficult comeback after the summer break, in the hopes that his rival is unable to finish consistently on the podium, as he has so far.

Worth a mention is the excellent performance by the talented young Toprak Razgatlioglu (Turkish Puccetti Racing / Kawasaki ZX-10RR) who, with his two third place finishes in Race 1 and Race 2 and his fourth place in the Tissot Superpole® Race, confirms his status as the best of the private team riders.

Pirelli can consider itself to be very satisfied with the race results at Laguna Seca, particularly in terms of the new SCX solution. This option, which Pirelli introduced in the Championship just this year as a pre-qualifying option to be used in Superpole®and in the 10-lap sprint race, was not only used by practically all the riders at Laguna Seca in the Tissot Superpole®Race, but it showed that it can also last the 25 laps of the standard-distance races, proving to be very competitive.

The Tissot Superpole® Race, starting at 11:00 a.m. local time with Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK / Kawasaki ZX-10RR) in pole position, lost one of its key players as early as the first lap when Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati / Ducati Panigale V4 R) tumbled disastrously to the ground just a few meters after the start due to contact with the rear tire of Toprak Razgatlioglu (Turkish Puccetti Racing / Kawasaki ZX-10RR) who was overtaking him. Then, on the following lap, an accident at the top of the Corkscrew involving Alessandro Delbianco (Althea Mie Racing Team / Honda CBR1000RR) and wild card JD Beach (Attack Performance Estenson Yamaha / Yamaha YZF R1) forced race direction to red flag the race, bringing the action to a halt.
The three riders involved in the accidents wound up in the medical center and were unable to be on the grid for the restart, which anticipated an eight-lap race.

As in Race 1, in this sprint race, Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK / Kawasaki ZX-10RR) once again started well and managed to maintain the race lead from start to finish, winning with a 2.5 second gap ahead of Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati / Ducati Panigale V4 R) and 3.6 seconds ahead of Tom Sykes (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team / BMW S1000 RR) who, unlike in Race 1, succeeded in snatching the bottom step of the podium from Razgatlioglu (Turkish Puccetti Racing / Kawasaki ZX-10RR) who finished fourth ahead of the other factory Kawasaki ridden by Leon Haslam.

In Race 2, the order of the riders on the podium changed, but the faces were the same as those in Race 1. Winning this second race was Welshman Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati / Ducati Panigale V4 R) who, unlike in Race 1, chose the same tire used by Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK / Kawasaki ZX-10RR), managing to overtake him on the inside at the first turn after the start and then maintaining the race lead all the way to the checkered flag. With the exception of this pass, throughout the rest of the race, the riders in the front maintained the positions taken at the start, with the reigning World Champion, after winning Race 1 and the Tissot Superpole® Race, finished on the second step of the podium more than three seconds behind Davies. Finishing third was Razgatlioglu (Turkish Puccetti Racing / Kawasaki ZX-10RR) who repeated his performance from Race 1, once again the best independent team rider. Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha WorldSBK Team / Yamaha YZF R1), Sykes (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team / BMW S1000 RR) and Haslam (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK / Kawasaki ZX-10RR) completed the top-six race finishers.

After crashing in the Tissot Superpole Race, Bautista attempted to partake in Race 2 anyway, but made a bitter return to pit lane, retiring on the third lap. The same fate awaited Michael Van Der Mark on the sixth lap.

The Pirelli solutions chosen by the riders for WorldSBK Tissot Superpole®Race and Race 2:

In the Tissot Superpole® Race, rider choices were rather unanimous. At the start, practically all the riders had chosen the combination of the standard SC1 125/70 tire (option A) on the front and the SCX (option X) on the rear. The exceptions were Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK / Kawasaki ZX-10RR) and Razgatlioglu (Turkish Puccetti Racing / Kawasaki ZX-10RR), who used the Y0446 SC0 development solution (option A) on the rear, and Ryūichi Kiyonari (Moriwaki Althea Honda Team / Honda CBR1000RR) who, instead of the SC1 on the front, went with the X1071 SC2 development tire (option B). At the restart, Razgatlioglu (Turkish Puccetti Racing / Kawasaki ZX-10RR) also opted for the SCX rear, leaving Rea as the only rider on the grid mounting the Y0446 SC0 development tire. Also worth a mention is the change made by Delbianco, opting for the X1071 SC2 development tire at the restart, as Kiyonari had.

On the other hand, the choices for Race 2 were different, with the riders making various changes compared to Race 1. On the rear, Davies and Eugene Laverty went from the SCX (option X) to the Y0446 SC0 development tire (option A) and the standard SC0 (option B) respectively, unlike Leandro Mercado, Markus Reiterberger, Beach and Kiyonari, who switched to the SCX (option X). In the end, the grid was split equally for the rear among the three available solutions, whereas on the front, the standard SC1 125/70 (option A) remained the tire chosen by all the riders except for Kiyonari.

Yamaha to Host Special Presentation for the Next Evolution of R World

MARIETTA, Ga. – July 10, 2019 – Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA, will host a special presentation for the next evolution of R World this upcoming weekend at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Salinas, California during the MotoAmerica Championship of Monterey and FIM Superbike World Championship. Fans in attendance will have plenty to experience between races, including new model displays, demo rides, and photo and autograph opportunities.

The Yamaha R World presentation will take place at the Yamaha Racing tent next to the Monster Energy/Yamalube/Yamaha Factory Racing Superbike Team transporter in the MotoAmerica paddock at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 13. From July 12 through 14, Yamaha will also feature various displays and demos, and select Yamaha apparel including jerseys, shirts, jackets, helmets, and gifts available for sale at, “The Marketplace.”

Display hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day, and Yamaha motorcycles  featured will include the NIKEN GT, MT-07, MT-09, MT-10, Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition YZF-R3, YZF-R6, YZ65, YZ85, YZ450F, YZ125X, YZ250X, YZ250FX, TT-R110E, and PW50.

Demo hours are 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Friday through Saturday, and 10:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. To demo the Yamaha YZF-R3, XSR700, or MT-07 riders must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid motorcycle license (permits are not allowed), a DOT-approved helmet, long pants, enclosed shoes, a shirt, and eye protection. To experience the YZF-R6, NIKEN, NIKEN GT, Tracer 900GT, FJR1300, Super Ténéré, MT-09, MT-10, or XSR900 riders must be at least 25 years-old.

Monster Energy® Kawasaki Thrills Passionate RedBud Fans

Foothill Ranch, Calif. (July 7, 2019) – Round 7 of the 2019 AMA Pro Motocross Championship returned to Buchanan, Michigan for the 45th annual RedBud National over the 4th of July weekend. With arguably the most energetic crowd of the entire series, the RedBud faithful donned their red, white and blue attire while chanting Monster Energy® Kawasaki rider Eli Tomac’s name after he captured his third overall 450MX victory of the season, and the fans continued on for Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider Adam Cianciarulo as he earned second overall in the 250MX class.

As the rowdy crowd lined the fence for 450MX Moto 1, Tomac fired out of the gate in third and began his mission to take over the lead. On Lap 3, Tomac capitalized on the momentum of an outside line to make the move around his competition into second and then followed up with another pass for the lead in that same section of the track on the very next lap. Tomac went on to lead the remaining 13 laps to grab the checkers with a 6.3-second gap on the rest of the field for his sixth moto win of the season.

As the gate dropped on the second moto, Tomac began his charge from seventh position. After reaching fourth by Lap 5, Tomac found himself stuck behind one of his competitors for the next seven laps before catching a second wind and laying down the fastest lap time (2:08.3) of the moto. With two laps remaining, Tomac managed to pass one other rider before crossing the finish line in second, earning the overall victory (1-2) and further extending his lead in the 450MX championship points standings to 34.

After a respectable qualifying result of fifth to start the day, Joey Savatgy faced adversity in both motos, finishing the day 38th overall (38-34). Despite his best efforts and starting within the top-10 in both motos, Savatgy was forced to withdraw early from both races; in Moto 1 after colliding with another competitor and again in Moto 2 following a crash with a few laps remaining while running in sixth.

Not only were the fans displaying their American pride, but the entire Monster Energy Kawasaki team sported special team hats, graphics on the race bikes, and riding gear, while Savatgy took it to the next level by arriving to the pits with red, white and blue hair.

The defending back-to-back champion and the rest of the Monster Energy Kawasaki team will take a week off, as Round 8 of the 2019 AMA Pro Motocross Championship will pick up on July 20th in Millville, Minnesota for the Spring Creek National.

Moto 1 in the 250MX class saw Cianciarulo wedged off the track in the opening lap of the moto but he managed to stick it out and reenter the track quickly. By Lap 7, Cianciarulo reached third just before dropping to fourth a few laps later. With just two laps remaining, Cianciarulo capitalized on a competitor’s misfortune with their bike, allowing him to finish third. At the conclusion of the moto, Cianciarulo was penalized two positions by race officials for not decelerating when running off the track on the opening lap, moving him back to fifth.

As the gate dropped on 250MX Moto 2, Cianciarulo shot out of the gate aboard his KX™250, positioning himself in fifth. At the halfway point of the moto, Cianciarulo had reached third but wouldn’t stop there and made his final pass on Lap 12 to reach the finish line in second. Cianciarulo’s 5-2 score placed him on the podium with second overall and he continues to lead the 250MX Class standings with a 25-point advantage.

After riding through the morning practice session and qualifying 11th, Martin Davalos and the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team decided he would not line up for motos that afternoon. Davalos has been struggling with lingering injuries throughout the season and after reevaluating his condition that morning, the group decided it was best he sit out in order to focus on the healing process. Davalos will follow up with the doctor later in the week for an updated status.

Monster Energy® Kawasaki Finds Success in the Sands of Southwick

Foothill Ranch, Calif. (June 30, 2019) – Monster Energy®/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider Adam Cianciarulo conquered the sandy hills of Southwick at Round 6 of the 2019 AMA Pro Motocross Championship as he captured his fifth overall win of the season finishing 1-2 in the motos, while Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Eli Tomac earned his sixth overall podium finish in third (2-3), both extending their lead in the championship points standings.

As the gate dropped on 250MX Moto 1, Cianciarulo kicked off his conquest by grabbing his first holeshot of the season aboard his KX™250 and taking off with the lead. Having yet to win the first moto at any round this season, Cianciarulo went on to lead every lap and capture his first Moto 1 victory with an 11-second margin of victory.

Moto 2 saw another solid ride from Cianciarulo as he grabbed his second holeshot of the day and began his charge. After fiercely defending the lead for the first half of the moto, the Florida native played it safe to cross the finish line in second, knowing a 1-2 moto score awarded him the overall and extended his points lead in the championship to 23. Veteran rider Martin Davalos had a rough day at The Wick and was unable to complete the second moto following a crash on Lap 4 and finished the day 33rd overall (22-40).

The win marks Cianciarulo’s sixth overall victory of his career, five of which have come this season alone.

“I’m so pumped to get another overall win under my belt. Both motos started out perfectly after nailing the holeshots, and I was able to gap the field in the first moto. This competition is tough though, so I ended up losing the lead in the second moto. I’m proud of the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team and what we’ve been able to accomplish so far this season. In the 450MX class, Tomac and Joey Savatgy lined up at the gate side by side aboard their KX™450 motorcycles, ready to take on the 40-rider field. As the gate dropped on Moto 1, Tomac and Savatgy shot out in front in second and sixth, respectively. Tomac fell back a few positions after the first turn but quickly made moves into third by the end of the first lap, while Savatgy ran into some mechanical issues forcing him to pull out of the race. Tomac continued to charge for the front, eventually making a pass into second on Lap 8, where he would go on to cross the finish line.

In Moto 2 Tomac started just inside the top-10,. creating a greater challenge to find the front. The points leader didn’t let that slow him down as he quickly began to make his way around the other riders, reaching third place by Lap 7. Tomac worked hard to maneuver around lappers and continued on to finish third in the moto for third overall (2-3). Savatgy had a strong start to Moto 2 but struggled to find his pace on the challenging sand track. Once he found the lines he was comfortable with and established his flow, he was able to push forward from 10th to finish eighth for 13th overall (36-8).

Tomac entered the day with only a 6-point lead in the championship standings but his consistency continues to pay off and his strong rides in the sand this weekend earned him a 26-point cushion and marks the first time in 2019 a rider will sit atop the 450MX class standings for consecutive races.

2019 NHRA Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines Drag Team

The Harley-Davidson® Screamin’ Eagle®/Vance & Hines drag racing team opens its 17th season of NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle competition at the 50th Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals, March 14-17 in Gainesville, Fla.

The team will begin pursuit of a 10th Pro Stock Motorcycle championship with a three-rider squad, as Angelle Sampey joins Andrew Hines and Ed Krawiec on Harley-Davidson® Street Rod™ competition motorcycles. The trio of veteran riders have won a combined 12 NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle titles.

“We will be bringing a formidable team to the track at Gainesville,” said Vance & Hines Motorsports owner Terry Vance. “Three former champions with all the savvy and experience it takes to reach the pinnacle of our sport, backed by a strong team in the pits and Harley-Davidson V-Twin power. We are racing in a very competitive class but we expect to be one of the teams to beat for the championship this season.”

The Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines team races competition drag bikes are inspired by the Harley-Davidson Street Rod production motorcycle, an agile middle-weight powered by the liquid-cooled High Output Revolution X 750 engine.

The Gatornationals is the first of 16 Pro Stock Motorcycle events on the 2019 NHRA Mello Yellow Drag Racing Series schedule. After the first 10 events, the points are re-set for the top-10 riders that then qualify for the Countdown to the Championship playoffs (the final six races), with the season ending in November at the Auto Club NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif.

2019 Harley-Davidson Factory Flat Track Team

The Harley-Davidson® Factory Flat Track Racing Team is preparing to open the 2019 American Flat Track (AFT) Twins season on March 14 at the Daytona TT at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla. Factory Team riders Sammy Halbert and Jarod Vanderkooi will contest the 18-race AFT series aboard Harley-Davidson® XG750R competition motorcycles prepared by Factory Team partner Vance & Hines Motorsports.

The team will field an all-new XG750R flat tracker for 2019, according to Vance, with a new chassis and a revised liquid-cooled, fuel-injected and race-tuned 750cc Harley-Davidson® Revolution X™ V-Twin based on the production engine originally designed for the Harley-Davidson Street 750 motorcycle.

The Daytona TT will provide an interesting test for the Harley Factory Team and other AFT competitors. A new 0.6-mile course will for the first time utilize the paved front straight of the historic Daytona International Speedway tri-oval, requiring racers to transition from dirt to pavement to dirt on each lap while negotiating left- and right-hand turns and a jump on the dirt section laid out on the infield of the speedway.

Flat track is the most-historic form of American motorcycle racing and Harley-Davidson has been part of the sport since the heyday of the Harley “Wrecking Crew” teams of the 1920s. In 2019 the Harley-Davidson Factory Flat Track Racing Team will compete on a diverse 18-event AFT Twins schedule that includes six miles, five half-miles, three short tracks and four TT courses. After a one-year hiatus So-Cal Half Mile at Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, Calif., (May 11) returns to the schedule.

Phoenix Racing Honda to Debut at Eastern Regional Monster Energy Supercross

ROME, Ga. (February 26, 2019) – The penultimate round of the 2019 Kicker Arenacross Championship in Salt Lake City, Utah was dominated by the Phoenix Racing Honda team, capturing both the 250 Pro and Open Pro Championshipswith Jace Owen. Owen showcased the performance of Pirelli’s SCORPION™ MX32™ tires by sweeping the 250 Pro and Open Pro classes on both Friday and Saturday nights racing alongside teammates Freddie Noren and Isaac Teasdale.

On Friday night, Owen was relentless as he stormed to the 250 Pro Class win, followed by Teasdale and Noren in second and third, respectively. The Open Pro Class once again saw Owen take the checkered flag, while teammates Noren and Teasdale swapped results to complete the podium. The double victory by Owen was enough for him to be crowned champion in both classes.

As the gate dropped on Saturday night’s action, it was Owen who put in another impressive ride to emerge victorious in the 250 Pro Class, just ahead of Teasdaleand Noren. The tables turned for the Open Pro Class as Noren raced to his first victory of the season, ending Owen’s perfect run in 2019. Teasdale rode strong to finish second and Owen helped the team sweep the podium with a hard-fought third.

“What an incredible feeling to end the Arenacross season with both championships,” said Owen. “There have been a lot of ups and downs the last few years, but this makes every struggle and all of the hard work worth it. With both Kicker Arenacross Championships wrapped up, the Phoenix Racing Honda team makes their Monster Energy Supercross Championship debut this week in Atlanta. All three team riders will look to carry their momentum into the Eastern Regional 250SX Class for the first of two 250SX East/West showdowns.
