The Happy 4th of July Bikernet Weekly News for July 2, 2020

These Are Still the Best of Times with News from Around the Globe Hey, I could go in a lot of bummer directions today, but that misses the major point. We are absolutely living in the best of times, yet I suppose some folks are bored, so they need attack shit. But I am moved by the brothers and sisters who recognize our flag, our monuments, our heritage and all the greatness flourishing in this country. I’m hiding out in Deadwood, South Dakota and it’s crowded with folks and bikers who have come to smell the Jack Pine trees, ride through amazing highways, inhale the history of the Badlands and check the action in Sturgis. We will get through this virus thing and party once more. In the meantime, the best things you can do to stay healthy and safe are to work out and ride motorcycles. The Escape Bikernet Weekly News for June 18, 2020

It’s Crazy but We Will Survive Hey, Another wonderful day in paradise. I joke about the adage from the India-based movie “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.” Great flick: Everything will be all right in the end. If it’s not all right, it’s not the end. Think about that anytime you’re in a jam. Think about it, when strange shit is happening in your hood, in the country or in the industry. Harley seems to be struggling, but I look at it as a transition. And everything will be cool, when they come out of it. I’ve spoken to shop owners all over the country about the times. Here’s a good one. “We had a slow week when the Covid hit,” said Randy Aron of Cycle Visions in San Diego. “Ever since then we’ve been cooking.” So, keep smiling, riding free and rockin’ the world. Let’s hit the news. Get ready to ride and never stop, goddammit! –Bandit CLICK HERE TO READ THE NEWS ON BIKERNET Join the Cantina – subscribe today https://www.bikernet.com/pages/custom/subscription.aspx

10 Massively Collectible Motorcycles to Watch

Just like cars, motorcycles are treasured collectibles. Despite their desirability, however, they trade hands on average at far lower values than cars. The car auction record, too, is nearly 50 times that of the motorcycle auction record. Generally, the lower end of the bike market is full of nostalgia-driven purchases; the top is littered with historical significance and racing pedigree. Based on digital views of our newly-released Hagerty Motorcycle Price Guide, here are the 10 bikes in which Hagerty is seeing the most interest, arranged by price from low to high. 2001 Sportster Fix

From Banged-Up to Hot Rod with S&S, Pingel and Suspension Technologies This story started in the ‘60s when Zack tried to buy his first Harley, a Knucklehead with his dad. Zack, still a teenager was already roaming the streets looking for action. He knew a chopper had to be a major portion of the picture. He found a guy, who said he had a basket case for cheap. Zack was pumped, but his dad went along for morale support. They entered this old biker’s garage on the east side of Detroit, and his dad immediately spotted piles of junk parts. The garage was scattered with parts and pieces. It was a mess, when the old coot led them to a dark area under a stairwell, where a bunch of parts and pieces were stacked under an oil-soaked canvas tarp. Magnificent Stock H-D Replacement Rigid Frames

Edlund Frames Classics from the Masters The good Doctor Hamster was in a jam recently. We were building a Panhead basket case with a modified stock Knucklehead frame. We had it straightened and fixed by the local master Dr. John. We still weren’t happy and decided to search for a stock Panhead frame. Hell, it was the only way to go. Prize Possession to be reprinted

This is the first book I ever wrote. I started writing fiction in 1971 for Easyriders Magazine. I was maybe 23 years old and trying to learn from some amazing writers, like J.J. Solari, and a few guys who were in prison, but excellent writers. I wrote some poetry under the Renegade name. I wanted the bad ass on the staff to be the poem writer. I wrote Prize Possession shortly after my Evo in a rigid frame was stolen from the Easyriders offices in 1996. It took me three days to get it back, with the help of a few bros and Gregg Daniel. I sold out of this book in 1997, but recently we decided to reprint it. I’m in the process of reading it again, after 35 years. Where the hell has the time gone.—K. Randall Ball

Bikernet History Lesson from the Clutch Master

Ben tells the history of the Harley Big Twin Clutch By Ben Kudon from American Prime It all started in 1903 or there abouts… The motor company went through a number of changes over the years with the way they transferred the power from the motor/transmission to the rear wheel. Now, this clutch may have been the bad ass doohickey in the day, (and while there are still bikers out there that swear this clutch is the best), it just ain’t! That old style stud and coil spring clutch had three major disadvantages that a diaphragm spring clutch doesn’t have. The more you compress the coil springs to engage better, the harder it is to pull in the clutch lever in. Lotlita and the Girls at the Strip Club

It’s all action, treachery, denial and rage By Gearhead with photos from Barry Green This is a special story. The young woman’s name is Lolita, and she is a professional dancer. This is not her dream but just for now her profession. This young woman has dreams and aspirations of a better work life for herself. We find a Lolita, Candice, Daniel, Trish or just pick a professional name in any gentlemen’s clubs across this country. A lot of these women work right here near L.A.X. Why you ask? The reason is L.A.X. is one of the last West Coast stops after leaving Las Vegas. L.A. is also big on adult entertainment like Vegas.
