HANG ON!—The Holidays are fast approaching. Hell, Thanksgiving is next Thursday. And a new Panhead project just landed in the shop. We are ready for a speed run with the Salt Torpedo, but Micah is or was trying to escape Los Angeles and California. He looked in Prescott, Arizona, but didn’t find what he needed. He’s a member of the Uglies and has Carlos and Emma in Auburn, so he went to check it out. He’s currently in escrow. That may delay our trip to El Mirage. Tomorrow, we will cover another Cruz Tool kit and how we used it with a Bandit’s Dayroll. We have more road tests of CVO models and I’m working on another Sam’s Picks of the Week. Hang On! I’m cleaning and rebuilding an S&S Super E for the dicey Knucklehead. Ethanol is bad shit if left in a carb for any length of time. It made a complete mess out of my FXR’s CV carb. This Super E is still gummed-up and brass corrodes like brass on a sailboat if left to the elements. I’m waiting on an S&S rebuild kit, but while hanging out I’m soaking parts and trying to get my phone to work, take photos and save them along with the photos transferred from my old Samsung phone. I’m waiting on a shim set from McMaster Carr to deal with the front axle nuts on the Salt Torpedo. I need to shim the axles to allow for the proper bearing tension and be able to install cotter keys in the axles. There’s a rule about safety wiring the axle nuts. I’m packing for another run to Deadwood. I made a deer grille guard and I hope to show you an image of it. I thought it was cool. Paughco helped me out. I installed the rebuilt mag on Dr. Hamster’s Panhead, but now I might be forced to operate on the Linkert carb on his bike. I didn’t have a problem with the Linkert on my Panhead. They must have been pre-Ethanol. Let’s see. Deadwood Custom Cycles handle the mag. I hope all the military brothers and sisters had a comfortable Veterans Day. I wish them all the best. All the big names have dealerships here in India – Triumph, Indian, BMW, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda and now some Italian brands too. India is the world’s largest market for two-wheelers overtaking China. Motorcycles and scooters can be seen everywhere in every city, suburbs and villages. It is the most popular choice of transport for the common man. Why would one of the world’s most popular brands decide to shut shop in India after spending a decade building dealerships and relationships? Harley-Davidson came to India before Indian and Triumph set foot here. In a way their sales figures induced other motorcycle brands to sell their larger models in India. This effort has forced me to think about all the bullshit in my past, the good and the bad. It makes me think about how and why I survived. I’m sure Sonny had to face the same demons when he started to write about his life. I have a close friend who was a member of the Outlaws for 20 or so years. He spent seven years in prison in the east. I recently wrote about the fights I was in during the time I was a member. It’s posted in the Life and Times of Bandit. I needed to set the record straight after George Christie’s book. I don’t talk much about anything else I was involved with. The violent side of life subsided and I became aware of the chopper mission. Sex, chrome and creativity. We were living is strange untamed times. The moral fabric of our society became unleashed with rock and roll, hot rods and choppers. It’s All Good Bikernet Weekly News for October 15th, 2020

You’ll see in the news a pitch from the MRF to sign up new members. I’ve always supported the MRF because they have worked tirelessly for decades to maintain our freedoms. There’s been competition with the AMA, NCOM and the MIC. I always felt the MRF was the most pure freedom fighting group. They are supported by and support the state rights groups. They aren’t connected to law firms or overseas manufacturers. They are simply freedom fighter devoted to street motorcyclists rights. Everyone should join the MRF, even members of the AMA and members of the MIC. The industry would be better off. For a longtime we tried to work with the industry guys and shops, but Industry guys thought they were covered by the MIC. That’s not the case. Anyway, it’s good to be a member, if only to stay abreast of the challenges our industry faces. I could go on a major rant about what the MRF membership has done to keep you free, less harassed, and able to work on and build bikes, but it would take me a week.
