The Big Question Bikernet Weekly News for August 6, 2020

Hey, You’ll see in the news wild announcements. The Authorities shut down Las Vegas Bike Fest and Daytona Biketoberfest, but we’re still rocking in Sturgis. It’s going to be a helluva test. I hope like hell no one gets sick. I don’t see a lot of mask wearing in these parts. This might be the only run this year. I’ve got LA brothers who still want to make it out. The opinions are all over the map. Some folks think it’s cool. Some folks need to make the money. Some folks think we’ll have an outbreak after the rally and are pissed off. I know of stores that will be completely closed during the rally. One thing is for certain. Whatever happens, we’ll experience it, deal with it and move on. But wait, Laconia is still happening. I’m sure they will look long and hard at the Black Hills Rally. Let’s hit the news. New Bagger Market Revealed Bikernet Weekly News for July 30, 2020

INCREDIBLE—I have one major question and maybe I know the answer. I keep saying that we’re living in the best of times. That takes an historic prospective. If you lived 100 years ago, you would immediately nod your head in agreement. You would have felt the suffering from WWI, the Spanish Flu, you name it. Hell, during the Civil War and there were no antibiotics and few pain killers. In most areas there wasn’t electricity. In many areas there were no sewers or running water. Okay, so now we are so damn lucky to have so much at our fingertips. We can travel the world quickly, have cars that do everything for us and phones capable of answering anything, entertaining, you name it. So, why do folks want to be pissed off about bullshit, or stuff that happened 200 years ago? Why do politicians want to take your cars and motorcycles away? Fuck it, just go for a ride. Some folks have a tough time with Freedom. They just can’t let go. Bikers get it. Let’s continue to ride fast and free. The Bikernet Weekly News is sponsored in part by companies who also dig Freedom including: Cycle Source Magazine, the MRF, Las Vegas Bikefest, Iron Trader News, ChopperTown, BorntoRide.com and the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum. Indian meets the extreme performance bagger competition

In the First Ever King of Bagger Competition at a Moto America Road Race in Laguna Seca By Bandit with photos from S&S his is a gear-grinding, shock stretching, chassis flexing, pushrod pounding (in the case of the Challenger, tappet tapping) first in many respects. No one ever expected baggers to battle it out in an official AMA, MotoAmerica road race scenario on an historic championship road racetrack. But it’s happening this year supported by industry leaders such as S&S, Barnett, Saddlemen and Drag Specialties. Fourteen teams committed to racing in the inaugural King of the Baggers event at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Bikernet is going to watch a couple of teams going forward, and today focused on the only Indian entry into this magnificent competition. Indian launched a new model this year, the Challenger, proclaimed to be the ultimate American Bagger with a Fixed Fairing, Inverted Front End, the Most Powerful Motor in its class. The Travelers Bikernet Weekly News for July 23, 2020

Alerts and News that Will Blow Your Mind! Hey, This coming week is going to be a strange one. I know the whole world is trying to grapple with this Covid mess, while I hide out in the Badlands surrounded by peace and nirvana, deer and pine trees. We are still two weeks from the rally, but tourist and bikers are everywhere. This morning five of our bikes are being delivered to the Bikernet Covid Hide-Out in the Badlands by Haul Bikes. I’ve got the shop set up and ready for minor repairs and already have a brazing project on the bench, maybe two. Every day is exciting when it involves motorcycles. My grandson is trying to coerce a couple of buddies to ride from LA to Sturgis to escape the madness and mayhem. It’s interesting. When we need fresh air, fresh outlooks, or new adventures, just mount up and ride. Let’s hit the news. Sam’s Bike Picks of the Week

Hey, We are living in such strange times. But through it all is the beauty and style of the custom bike or a gorgeous woman. Choppers and custom motorcycles are an art form. Their glistening metal flake paint often tries to compete with the crimson clouds at sunset, just like the fine clean simplified lines of a custom motorcycle tries to compete with the lines of a slender woman’s body. Fueling Vented Dipstick for Touring Harleys

For Twin Cam and M-Eight Touring Photos and text by ROGUE The Feuling Billet Dipsticks are made In America and they vent excessive crankcase pressure from the oil tank on Harley Touring Models through a PCV style breather. Blow by is pressure that is forced past the rings and cylinder walls and ends up in the crankcase and then into the oil tank. All internal combustion engines have a certain amount of crankcase pressure and it does increase with miles. Large cubic inch engines have a tendency to have more blow by as well. The Vented Dipstick comes with a sheet of instructions and I suggest you read it before starting installing this product. Great News Bikernet Weekly News for July 16, 2020

It’s all What We Make of It! Hey, Life is amazing. We’re in the middle of a Pandemic and J&P had their best single day sales record in the history of the company. And now J&P is owned by another company. Get this, boat sales have gone through the roof. It’s one way a family can play together and not run into nasty crowds. One manufacturer launched their new models way before the end of the year. Motorcycles have a similar blessing, that’s why Rich is having a banner year at American Biker in Charleston, SC, and Junior, at Lifestyle Cycles in SoCal is kicking ass in Orange County, California. It’s about embracing what’s available. A brother has an event magazine. No events, no business, but that’s not the case. He’s going to start covering underground events. He’s also going to interview big event promoters about their struggle and what they need. Hell, Scott Jacobs was making bank on Cruise line art auctions. That’s gone for now, but Scott, Sharon and their daughters opened a brewery restaurant and bakery in Deadwood and they are kicking ass. There doesn’t seem to be any Covid around here. It’s amazing. Cruise ships don’t need to set idle. Hell, one cruise ship could hold three separated conventions at the same time and stay in dock. Safety measures on one of those massive ships could be a breeze because of the compartments. Everything would be completely contained. But riding is the best. Feel free, in the wind and social distancing is not a problem at 90mph.
