5th annual Vintage Motorcycle Show June 1 in Palisade, Colorado

As a fundraiser for troops overseas, the Western Colorado Vintage Motorcycle Association is set to host its annual show in downtown Palisade Saturday, June 1. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the corner of Third and Main streets, and admission is free. Desert Flyer Band, a local music act, will play oldies and classic rock all day. “There will be more than 100 motorcycles on display, ranging from the early 1900s to 1987,” said event organizer Rick Barnes. “You’re going to see a great history of motorcycles.” Vehicle registration will run until 10 a.m. Saturday, and it costs $15 per motorcycle. Could Vololights Reduce Motorcycle Rear-end Collisions?

California startup Vectolabs has developed a new type of safety light for motorcycles that illuminates when the bike slows down, regardless of whether or not the rider is using the brakes. Called Vololights, the device is comprised of two sets of LEDs built into a license plate holder that’s fitted with an accelerometer and CPU. When it senses that the motorcycle it is installed on starts slowing down, a pattern of blinking lights goes off to get the attention of following vehicles.
