Barclayā€™s Harley Breaks Another World Record

On July 16th, Will Barclay broke a world record by approx 6 and ½ hours, riding a motorcycle from Prudhoe Bay Alaska to Key West Florida.  He traversed over 5,000 miles in 80 hours on “REDTAIL” his famous Harley Davidson Street Glide. Harley-Davidson XR750 Rider Brad Baker Takes AMA Grand National Points Lead Harley-Davidson® Screamin’ Eagle® Factory Team rider Kenny Coolbeth rode a Harley-Davidson XR750 motorcycle to a seventh-place finish at the AMA Pro Flat Track presented by J&P Cycles Grand National Twins main on the Sacramento Mile at the Cal Expo Center. Crosley Radio Kawasaki rider Bryan Smith won the race.  Coolbeth qualified for the main with a fourth-place finish in his 10-lap heat race, a result that put him on the second row for the start of the 25-lap main event. Aged 82 and still on the racing scene

It was more than 60 years ago, but Harry Hulme still remembers the nervous excitement he felt before taking part in his first motorcycle race. The 82-year-old retired engineer raced at Alton Towers for two seasons in the early 1950s. "I can still remember my first race now," says Harry, from Manor Court, Walton, near Stone.
