Ducati Desmosedici GP15 makes track debut today at Sepang

One week after its world premiere at the Ducati Auditorium in Borgo Panigale, the new Desmosedici GP15 took to the track today in the IRTA tests at Sepang International Circuit, for the first time in the hands of the two factory Ducati Team riders. Andrea Dovizioso and Andrea Iannone first completed a few laps on their usual GP14.3 bikes, which had been used in the Sepang 1 tests at the start of February, before stepping onto their new machines for the first time. California May Regulate Motorcycle Lane-Splitting

AB 51 is a new bill that would make lane-splitting unequivocally legal, permissible when traffic is moving at 30 mph or less and when motorcyclists drive no more than 10 mph faster than nearby traffic. A UC Berkeley study released last fall found that lane-splitting is no more perilous than riding a motorcycle in a marked lane except when motorcyclists drive 10 or more mph faster than the surrounding traffic. Bill Quirk, the bill's author, told KCET that he wrote the proposal because of his "concern for traffic safety," and state agencies' "inability" to educate drivers after the Department of Motor Vehicles and the California Highway Patrol both removed lane-splitting safety guidelines from their materials last summer. CHINESE NEW YEAR BIKERNET WEEKLY NEWS FOR February 19, 2015

Last night I attended the Buddhist Temple gathering in Chinatown, Los Angeles. The temple was jammed, but not how you would expect the Chinese New Year to be celebrated in LA. Chinatown was mostly closed up, except for a couple of restaurants and we jammed into the Plum Tree Inn, a spacious comfortable restaurant for a late dinner with babes, the Triking Viking and Hugh King and his wife Karen.
