LAWS, ACTION AND BAD JOKES RETURN TO THE BIKERNET WEEKLY NEWS for April 21st, 2016

Hey, About Freedom. We seem to live in a society admonishing Freedom as a thing of the past. I had a conversation with Dennis Manning. The EPA told him point blank that they are controlling everything that rolls, and ultimately custom motorcycles had to be apart of the mix. So, why isnā€™t it the other way around? Why donā€™t government agencies have a mandate to find freedom, not control? I had a notion. The EPA was started as an advisory group. So, letā€™s start a freedom advisory group. Then someday the president will wake up and say, ā€œFreedom works, itā€™s what keeps humanity breathing, celebrating, being innovative, and strong.ā€ They will then give us billions to mandate that government agencies ...

2016 DAYTONA BIKE WEEK BIKERNET EDITORS CHOICE WINNER

Ā  As the name of the event suggests editors from numerous motorcycle publications judge the show and pick a motorcycle to produce a feature article on. It is not an easy task as there are numerous categories and just about any of the motorcycles entered are worthy of feature articles. Ā I ended up choosing the 2005 FLSTN Deluxe built by Diego Bessler. I looked at all the other motorcycles but kept coming back to it. The paint got my attention and as I continued to look at it the combination of things done to it told me that someone had put a lot of work and meaning into every aspect. Ā Plus, it looked like a daily rider and that counts ...

Hit and Run Driver May Have Intentionally Hit Motorcyclists

An accident on the 210 Freeway in Los Angeles injured six people and may have started with the driver of a pickup truck deliberately striking a motorcyclist, according to the California Highway Patrol. The accident occurred about 7 p.m. Saturday just west of Irwindale Avenue in Irwindale. According to the CHP's preliminary investigation, six motorcycles were heading west at 65 mph in the No. 1 lane when a black pickup in the No. 4 lane cut across the freeway, hitting one of the motorcycles. That caused a chain reaction with the other five motorcycles, and at least two of those bikes struck a BMW in the carpool lane. The CHP said the driver of the pickup may have intentionally struck the ...

California: FFL Ban to be Heard in Committee Today

Today,Ā the Assembly Committee on Privacy and Consumer Protection is scheduled to hear Assembly Bill 2459. This detrimental bill, authored by NRA-PVF ā€œFā€ rated Assembly Member Kevin McCarty, would close practically every gun store in the Golden State if enacted into law. Gun control advocates have made their agenda very clear ā€“ removal of firearm availability piece by piece, until it is completely gone in California. Committee contact information can be found here. AB 2459 would make four serious changes to Californiaā€™s dealer licensing requirements. A prohibition on licensee business premises being on a residential property. A clear statement that localities may impose more restrictive requirements on licensees than those imposed by state law. A requirement that licensees maintain full color ...
