  A 45-year-old Palm Coast man was being held Thursday on $1 million bail, accused of laundering money as part of a motorcycle Ponzi scheme, a Flagler County sheriff's spokeswoman said. Michael Stevens of Calusa Court was arrested Wednesday on a warrant charging him with money laundering, a first-degree felony, and "structuring," a second-degree felony, meaning that he evaded currency-transaction reporting requirements, according to court documents. Montana State University will host a conference on Dec. 7-9 honoring Robert Pirsig, writer and philosopher whose book "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance," published in 1974, is one of the best-selling popular philosophy book of all time.   The three-day event held at various locations on campus will include appearances by national and internationally known speakers and teachers, philosophers and artists, filmmakers and motorcycle enthusiasts who will convene to discuss Pirsig's work, its meaning, and its legacy. Romney, Ryan visit Biketoberfest

  Biketoberfest is back today with the return of thousands of roaring Harley-Davidson riders in their leather and jeans, gearing up for rock concerts and beer. But even the city's fall motorcycle rally can't escape the political season. The city is bracing for a unique double-header Friday night, with Biketoberfest at full blast and a political rally by Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and running mate Paul Ryan. NHRA announces revisions to 2013 Pro Stock Motorcycle schedule

  NHRA officials announced today two revisions to the 2013 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule where the Pro Stock Motorcycle category competes. In 2013, the Pro Stock Motorcycle class will visit zMAX Dragway in Charlotte, April 19-21, and be a part of the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals. The category will compete four-wide along with Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Stock. In addition, the bikes will be featured at the inaugural NHRA New England Nationals in Epping, N.H., June 20-23. To accommodate the schedule changes, the Pro Stock Motorcycles will not compete in Atlanta and Brainerd. In all, the Pro Stock Motorcycle class will compete in a 16-race schedule, with six of those races in the NHRA Mello Yello Countdown to the Championship. The season for the category kicks off at the 44th annual NHRA Gatornationals at Auto-Plus Raceway at Gainesville, March 14-17. Young motorcycle racers may take police warnings more seriously if a new tire puncturing device is put into use on Bangkok streets. Thailand's new national police chief Adul Saengsingkaew istaking aim at one of the country's most dangerous groups: street motorcycle racers. Street racing ‘‘is a blatant violation of the law’’, he said yesterday. ‘‘If the police fail to stop it, more people will follow suit and racing could become an acceptable trend among youngsters.’’ A mobile device which can deliver a metal row of spikes to stop motorcycles is demonstrated at the Bangkok PoliceHeadquarters.
