Land Speed Racing Comes To Europe in 2013

European readers and riders, mark your calendars for the first-ever public world record event to be held in Europe, March 29th to April 1st in Italy at the Nardo track. The high-speed test track located 12 mi north-west of the town of NardòItaly, in the southern region of Apulia, in the province of Lecce. Click on the image to find out more.

The track has a huge banked circle that measures 7.7 miles and is a sea level. It provides predictable traction for optimal speed trials. Racers can enter three categories including Naked, Partial Streamliner and Streamliner.

Las Vegas Bike Fest Draws Huge Crowds

When the twelfth annual Las Vegas BikeFest® cruised into downtown Las Vegas September 27-30, close to 30,000 motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the world enjoyed four days of all things related to the exciting world of custom motorcycles.   Approximately 200 vendors showcased the latest in parts, accessories and apparel, but the highlight of the event was the Artistry in Iron competition where custom builders compete for the coveted title of Master Builder in an exciting biker build-off competition. 

"Las Vegas BikeFest returned once again, showcasing the most innovative and cutting edge aspects of bike building," said Mindi Cherry, Event Manager for Las Vegas BikeFest.  "There are only a few places where you can immerse yourself in the excitement and uniqueness of this culture.  Las Vegas BikeFest is one of them, which makes it the coolest place to be in the desert."

Artistry in Iron, the peer-judged, invitation-only custom bike building competition, featured some of the most innovative custom bike building BikeFest has seen yet. With 18 builders gathering from all corners of the U.S., the competition was steeper than it has ever been. As expected, the bike builders rose to the challenge, creating some of the most unique and creative bikes seen yet. Yaniv Evan of Powerplant Choppers in Los Angeles, CA took home the top prize.  Along with winning $10,000, Evan took home the respect of his peers who voted his bike into the winners circle. 

Attendees also enjoyed a full weekend of entertainment options, Victory demo rides, the always unpredictable Mr. and Miss BikeFest Competition, a $10,000 Poker Run, World's Strongest Biker Competition, Stunt Shows and a wet-and-wild Bikini Contest.

Plans for the 2013 Las Vegas BikeFest are already in the works, with the dates for the event set for October 3-6, announced Cherry.

Iron Riders Motorcycle Club fixes driveway for wheelchair-bound girl

The Highland-based Iron Riders Motorcycle Club worked together with several local businesses to build a driveway for ten-year-old Plattekill resident Andrea Langston who has cerebral palsy. Harley teammates Krawiec, Hines discuss motorcycle title race

Screamin' Eagle/Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson teammates Eddie Krawiec and Andrew Hines, who are battling one another for the 2012 NHRA Full Throttle Pro Stock Motorcycle championship, took part in a recent national teleconference to discuss the title race.

Krawiec, a two-time world champion, is the points leader by just 17 over Hines, a three-time champion, on the strength of his career-best seven wins during the season. Hines has five wins this season to go with four runner-up finishes.
