Motorcycle Book Launch To Benefit Hurricane Relief Efforts

By General Posts

Sales from a new book celebrating the rides of famous motorcycle enthusiasts will go to help victims of Hurricane Sandy. The publication, titled “Rockin’ Garages: Collecting, Racing and Riding with Rock’s Great Gearheads,” explores the car and motorcycle collections of famous musicians, including members of iconic bands like AC/DC and Pink Floyd.

Authors Tom Cotter and Ken Gross profiled a variety of musicians and their cars and motorcycles. They eventually compiled the stories behind how these individuals initially became involved with the auto andmotorsports industries and began expanding their personal collection of rides. The Epiphany of the Trikes.
Words and Photos by Jim Foreman
During a beautiful and warm SoCal afternoon, tragedy was bound to strike.  While sending volleyballs over the net for my daughter’s team to return, a long, high ball was on a trajectory several feet above my head.  Not being one to let it go I jumped high to return it.  The return was successful, but the return to Terra Firma was not.  That moment began a six week recovery of a broken foot and an eye-opening epiphany on motorbikes, trikes and what riding means to me. Suzuki Will End Auto Sales in US, Focus On Motorcycles

By General Posts

Japan's Suzuki Motor Corp. is ending sales of new autos in the U.S. market, but the move will have little impact in South Florida, where the brand already was losing ground, dealers and industry experts said.

Most Suzuki dealers have combined their stores with other brands that can take over Suzuki's space, experts said. In addition, Suzuki will honor all auto warranties and provide parts, as required by law, ensuring that car owners can maintain their existing vehicles without problems.

Historic Hot Rods, Dragsters, and Corvettes Galore for Inaugural Anaheim Auction, Nov. 15-17
High performance collector car auctioneers Mecum Auctions is set to host their inaugural Anaheim event with an offering of more than 750 vehicles and will host a live SoCal broadcast debut of Mecum Auto Auction: Muscle Cars & More Nov. 15-17, 2012 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

The Mecum Anaheim Auction and its host venue is a match made in hot rod heaven.  With 815,000 square feet of exhibit space, the Anaheim Convention Center is the largest indoor exhibition facility on the west coast and will provide an enjoyable environment for buyers, sellers and spectators throughout this 3-day auction that is certain to become the SoCal auction event of the year.

Hot Rod Magazine, the National Hot Rod Association, and the Southern California Timing Association: all are products of the car culture born in booming postwar Southern Calif. The Golden State is also the birthplace of several history-making rods being offered through the course of this three-day happening, including Lot S109, the 1932 McMullen Roadster known as “The World's Most Iconic Hot Rod,” made famous by the April 1963 cover of Hot Rod magazine and S116, the famed 1936 Ford Calori Coupe that took 1st in Class at Pebble Beach in 2007.

The Rodder’s art has historically found its fullest expression in the heat of competition, producing over half a century of pioneering drag and road racing machines. The inaugural Mecum Anaheim Auction reflects that history with a number of noteworthy racing machines including two very special offerings from the private collection of Don “The Snake” Prudhomme: Lot S170, the first funny car to reach 315 MPH and Lot S171, the “Gold Snake” Camaro funny car painted to celebrate The Snake’s seven U.S. Nationals titles.

Of course, no Mecum Auction is complete without a gathering of superb investment-grade Corvettes, in this case headlined by Lot S88, a 1969 L88 convertible that is the most fully equipped and thoroughly documented L88 known to exist and Lots S99 and S104, both 1967 427/435 HP convertibles, both awarded prestigious Bloomington Gold Survivor Certification.
