Krawiec Slips To Fifth In St Louis

Harley rider Ed Krawiec advanced to the second round of eliminations at the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals at Gateway Motorsports Park after qualifying sixth for the event. Riding a V-Rod, Krawiec posted a best Elapsed Time (ET) of 6.872 seconds in qualifying rounds. Harley  rider Andrew Hines qualified the team’s other V-Rod in 12th position with an ET of 6.901 seconds. Lucas Oil Buell rider Hector Arana Sr. led all qualifiers with an ET of 6.796 seconds. On Sunday, Krawiec won his first-round match over Billingsley Towing Service Suzuki rider Steve Johnson. Facing Viper Motorcycle Company Buell rider Matt Smith in round two, Krawiec fouled at the start by 0.007 second. “I had a good run in the first round, with a great 60-foot time, but I knew Smith had a fast motorcycle today and I’d need to beat him at the line,” said Krawiec. “I had some good lights in qualifying, so we set the bike up for a 0.015, but just missed. I guess you live by the tree and die by it, too.” Hines lost in the first round to Viper Motorcycle Company Buell rider John Hall. “We are getting closer with my bike, but it didn’t do well at 60 feet, plus I think we missed the tuneup a bit when the weather changed overnight,” said Hines. “We’ll put on a new rear tire try to improve the starts next week at Reading.” Smith defeated Nitro Fish Suzuki rider LE Tonglet in the final, and took over the Pro Stock Motorcycle points lead. After three of six events in the NHRA Countdown to the Championship playoffs, Smith leads the class with 2,369 points. Lucas Oil Buell rider Hector Arana Jr. drops back to a tie for second place with Arana Sr. at 2,294 points. Sovereign-Star Racing Buell […]

Rapp Takes AMA Pro Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Championship at Laguna Seca

Aerostar Global/Suburban Motors H-D rider Steve Rapp earned the first AMA Pro Road Racing championship of his long career with another dominating flag to flag victory in the AMA Pro Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson series race Saturday at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Ca. Rapp’s sixth win of the 2013 season came in much the same fashion as he has crafted the others, starting from pole position, establishing an early lead, and building the gap on his competitors as the laps clicked off. The only difference this time was that the rewards for victory were sweeter at the end: a coveted No. 1 plate for the series championship and the $25,000 XR Showdown first place check. “I didn’t have a good plan. I just thought I’d go hard for the first couple of laps and see how it played out. It went well, and I’ve got to thank the Suburban Motors Harley-Davidson team. They’re a family team and it feels amazing to do this for them. It’s a perfect weekend,” Rapp said. “[This championship] feels as good as I was hoping it would. It’s a lot of years of hard work and to finally get to the point where it’s paid off for all the people that have helped me over the last 15 years, it’s the perfect end to a season.” Just as the script for recent Harley-Davidson series races began with Rapp checking out to big lead, it also included a vicious fight for the second and third place positions, and Laguna Seca was no different. With the remaining spots in the XR Showdown still up for grabs, the drama began even before the race started when front row starter Tyler O’Hara (Eco Fuel Saver/Scrubblade) had a mechanical problem on the warm-up lap. After a delayed start,

5 Reasons Every Entrepreneur Should Ride A Motorcycle

From Business Insider You’ve heard about how poorly the motorcycle manufacturers are doing these days. Sales and profits are down, some plants are in danger of closing, and now dealers with multiple dealerships in one city are being asked to consolidate into one location. They say it’s because ‘discretionary spending’ is down. But I have a question: When did owning a motorcycle become discretionary? I believe that owning a motorcycle is as American as entrepreneurship–and vital to a founder’s long-term business success. I learned many years ago that the skills and techniques necessary to be a successful biker directly transfer to my daily business life. Read more

Traveling Tattoo Company is making their debut in Daytona at the Broken Spoke Campground! This marks the 4th year of their commitment with Broken Spoke Saloon to bring better tattoo quality and cleanliness to major motorcycle events. Working with some of the biggest names in tattooing from around the globe, Jasmine Cain’s Traveling Tattoo Company is bringing the talent from the corners of the United States to you! Traveling Tattoo Company is owned and operated by rock singer/performer, Jasmine Cain who is born and raised in Sturgis, South Dakota. A veteran of motorcycle events and hometown girl who believes in loyalty and takes great pride in whatever she sets her mind to do. “The Traveling Tattoo Company was a new venture for me. We took a tattoo artist on the road with our band in 2010 and basically set up shop wherever we were performing. I learned so much about the art of tattooing and learned the importance and details of keeping a sterile and clean environment where people could feel comfortable that they were getting a top notch tattoo in a clean location. I met tons of new artists and saw the demand for different kinds of art depending on what location you were visiting”. Joining the Traveling Tattoo Company this year is legendary artist, Jojo Miller. Jojo is a California native who has a special interest in rock music which is what brought he and Jasmine Cain together. He has inked many famous rockers from the members of Shinedown to Nickelback and Saving Abel. Here’s what the boys from Saving Abel had to say: “We’re all artistic to a certain degree. I mean, I can’t draw a stick figure, but I know when something is appealing to me. My father, who’s a doctor, is also a phenomenal artist….and

How About Ten Cross Yo Lips?

Indian Larry Motorcycles Celebrates Ten Year Anniversary Of The Block Party! Text and Photos by Richie Pan Indian Larry Motorcycles is probably one of the most recognizable names in the motorcycle business today. Their shop, located in Brooklyn, has to be on any true chopper jockey’s “must visit” list. There is constantly a flow of traffic through their doors from kids down the street to entire clubs of people who make a pilgrimage to see the shop that still carries the late Larry Desmidt’s name. Today, the shop sits just a few blocks over from its original location that many will remember from the fame it garnished through the Biker Build-Off craze. While some of the names and faces have changed, a few things have stayed exactly as they were. Bobby and Elisa Seeger — owners of Indian Larry Motorcycles — go above and beyond to make sure that the bikes themselves carry the classic look and function that Larry built his name upon. The vibe in the shop is exactly like it was back in the day, but the one aspect that is the point of this article is the Block Party — their annual celebration of friends and customers. New Travel Book by Allan Karl

I was reading your article just the other day about the Royal Enfield run into the Himalayas and remember as I traveled to Africa of finding several riders from Namibia and even Angola on Royal Enfields! I’m hoping you will find a way to include a mention of my project, my book and the beauty of traveling on my motorcycle anywhere all over the world! A few years ago I quit my job and got on my motorcycle and proceeded to ride around the world–alone. After three years, 62,000 miles through 35 countries on five continents, I decided to return home. It was quite an adventure. An amazing story. For the last three years I’ve been writing a book that brings to life this journey. It’s an oversized, full-color coffee-table style book with photos, stories and food from each of the 35 countries I visited. The book is called: FORKS. A Quest for Culture, Cuisine, and Connection Three Years, Five Continents, One Motorcycle I’ve invested nearly everything I’ve in writing and producing this book. It’s ready to go to be published and will be available later this year. I’m publishing this book in the same manner I set out on this journey — alone. Rather than compromise my vision and give in to publishers concerns, I have personally funded the entire production of the book to date. To print it, and to offer pre-sales preorders, I’ve turned to the popular crowd-funding site Kickstarter. So, this Monday, September 23rd I’m launching this Kickstarter campaign. Will you help me share this story with your readers and post news of the book and the Kickstarter campaign on your site–share it with your friends and followers on social media? Even in Syria I connected with motorcyclists. Many were riding old Czech Jawas. In Sudan
