Nessie — Girl of Bikernet for March 2014

Renegade in a Blaze to See Blaze Photos By Jack Mcintyre, Text by Renegade I had an appointment for some ink work at a shop in Hollywood. The only shop I was familiar with was Mark Mahoney’s, but most of the shops were on Sunset, and I needed to find the one where Nessie Blaze was slinging ink. I rode out in a blaze after working on Bikernet too long. I was pissed at the boss and it was time to peel out for the weekend. Bad Boys Saloon Hits Main Street Daytona

So who is the man behind the newest hot spot on the strip? Article By: Chris Callen Year after year, it’s the same thing: a new player on the scene and the rumor mill around the motorcycle industry starts. Who’s behind the new business? Where do they come from? What are they doing here anyway? One such point of curiosity has sprung up for this year’s bike week event in Daytona Beach. The spot I’m talking about is Bad Boys Saloon. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Lou DeRosa, through mutual friends at Sick Boy Apparel and the Iron Horse Saloon. After getting to know him a little bit, I thought the story of his arrival to our scene deserved some attention, so we sat down for an interview. Read Article

Lonnie Gets A New Tattoo — How To Cement Your Passion for Indian Motorcycle

Lonnie Hannah had been thinking of getting an Indian Motorcycle logo tattooed on his arm for a while. After joining the company last year as a Senior Layout Designer in charge of assembling the new 2014 models, he got one step closer to pulling trigger on fresh ink. His story is compelling for any bike enthusiast, and his commitment representative of how folks at Indian Motorcycle feel about working on history every day. To document the event, a video was produced by David Shelleny and the Indian Motorcycle in-house crew. The tattoo artist is Shahn Anderson, Owner of Electric Dragonland Tattoo in Hopkins, MN. Make sure you watch the video below. Lonny tells a great story about his deep roots in the motorcycle hobby and his love for the American V-twin. After Indian Motorcycle entered his heart, he wanted to also make room for Indian in his garage and on his arm. Enjoy! Advertisement

Docuseries ‘The Bikers’ Comes To TV

Well don’t set your DVRs just yet because this new docuseries from the folks who brought you ‘The Aviators’ isn’t due our until some time in 2015.  “The Bikers” will share stories of people, places, and cool gear in a way that distances itself from the all too common ‘newsy’ motorcycle shows that exist. “The Bikers” uses the same rich but light-hearted storytelling style that has made “The Aviators” a worldwide hit, says the production company. In combination with stunning videography and creative editing, “The Bikers” will gain a quick and loyal following from those within the motorcycle community as well as the dreamers who have longed to ride an iron stallion. With a base already in the tens of millions, motorcycling is NOT a niche, it’s a way of life. The application of the same successful ‘Aviators’ formula to this already much broader base is the recipe for a whole new round of success, and quite possibly on a much larger scale. A sampling of ‘Bikers’ segments includes: Murdercycles, Are bikes really that dangerous? / Women bikers – Not just a pretty accessory / Getting on two wheels for the first time since you were a kid / Gatherings – Thousands of bikers in one place – Call in the national guard / Things couples do / Bikers give – All about charity rides; in addition to an assortment of motorcycle profiles (stories, not just stats) and historical segments, as well as popular destination segments.

Australia OKs Lane Splitting For Motorcycles

NSW motorcyclists will be the first in the country to be able to ride between cars as part of new measures to improve road safety. The state government held a successful trial in Sydney’s CBD last year allowing motorcyclists to be exempt from existing lane filtering laws in an attempt to ease road congestion and measure potential safety issues for other road users. The new law, effective from July 1, will permit fully licensed motorcyclists to filter past stationary vehicles at intersections when it is safe to do so — but not in school zones during hours of operation and only when ridding slower than 30km/h. Hornsby MP Matt Kean said the decision solved key issues for motorcyclists while maintaining road safety for other road users.‘‘The new rule changes will give us the opportunity to communicate with riders so they better understand the risks involved with lane filtering and educate them on safe filtering practice,’’ he said. ‘‘Motorists attempting to ‘lane filter’ at speeds over 30km/h will be committing an offence and will be fined for dangerous driving.’’

BAD JOKES AND BITCHIN' BABES SUNDAY POST FOR March 2, 2014

California Rain, High Water, Time To Ride for Higher Ground Hey, I don’t know what to say this morning. It’s been raining steady for a couple of days, and California needs it bad, but I live at a very scary sea-level. If it’s high tide when the rains come, the streets won’t drain and we are forced to wait for the tide to recede. I’m going to dive right into the news. I’m confused. I had a date last night for the first time in a year. She was very courteous and kind, but over the last week, between several friends, and my own experiences, some half-dozen or so women lied to us, or let us down. We have a couple of women on the staff who are highly trustworthy, but I’m sorta gun shy at this old age. So I better get to the news, before the hunt begins for true love once more. Read it All!
