900 Miles South of the Mexican Border

Michelle had been living from only the back of her $700 motorcycle for five consecutive years and her heavily loaded bike now brought up the rear as my just as heavily burdened Electra Glide beat its fateful rhythm against the warn pavement of this small Mexican highway. Highway 1 was neither crowded nor was it deserted and we saw few vehicles for many a mile. It was a lonely yet beautiful ride as the warm winter sunshine beat down upon our faces. CLICK to read….

Daytona Beach PD To Ride Victory Motorcycles In The Fall

The Daytona Beach Police Department, an agency that protects and serves in a city that plays host to major events such as Speed Week, the Daytona 500, Spring Break, and Bike Week, will begin patrolling on Victory Police Motorcycles starting this fall.    The department is switching to Victory Police Motorcycles after its current lease to use Harley-Davidson motorcycles expires. “Every other year our agency ordered new motorcycles, and we were at the mercy of whatever new advances were made to the bike itself, which usually wasn’t much,” said highly decorated DBPD Traffic Unit Officer Jason Kilker. “By contrast, Victory Police Motorcycles provided a two-page checklist of law enforcement-only options that were available for our officers to select what suited them best. These options included, but were not limited to, full-size AR-15 rifle racks, heated grips, and a mind-blowing LED light package that no one can match.” “Victory Police Motorcycles focuses exclusively on the law enforcement industry with officer safety being Priority One,” said Victory Police Motorcycles CEO Nita Buckner. “Our continual introduction of new safety enhancements is a testament to this commitment to safety.” Victory Police Motorcycles is a Tucson, Arizona-based company that acquires motorcycles from Victory and equips them to suit the specific needs of individual agencies. The VPM staff typically equips a Victory Cross Country, Cross Roads, or Victory Vision with equipment such as lights, radio, and siren, a secondary battery to power that electronic equipment, and custom paint that features the agency’s logo. Additional accessories can include tip-over protection, a skid plate, firearms and radar gun holsters, alternate windshield styles, and more. The Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) will lease a fleet of 12 Commander I models, each of which equipped with LED lights, a radio box, and a siren, and they will feature the department’s striking

Hines to Semis; Krawiec Races Harley-Davidson V-Rod to Top Qualifying Spot

Harley rider Andrew Hines retained the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle season points lead after advancing to the semi-final round in Sunday eliminations at the Auto-Plus NHRA New England Nationals at New England Dragway. Ed Krawiec topped qualifying for the event on the team’s other Screamin’ Eagle® Harley-Davidson® V-Rod® motorcycle with a 6.794-second, 197.88-mph blast on Saturday that also set a new Pro Stock Motorcycle Elapsed Time (ET) track record. Hines qualified fourth with an ET of 6.842. On Sunday Krawiec advanced from the first round of eliminations when Next Level Racing Suzuki rider Justin Finely fouled at the start. In round two, Krawiec lost to Kandy Racing Buell rider Angie Smith, who combined an outstanding 0.009-second reaction time and a 6.908-second ET to beat Krawiec’s 0.067/6.862 run. “Angie had a great reaction time, but my bike bogged off the line,” said Krawiec. “My 60-foot time went from 1.06 [seconds] to 1.10. We had a tune-up that was underpowered at the start. My V-Rod had more than enough top-end power to win that race, but we were kind of battling all weekend, especially with unpredictable handling. Something’s not happy in our chassis that we need to get fixed.” Hines scored a first-round win over Quality Tire Buell rider Scotty Pollacheck, and advanced in round two when Lucas Oil Buell rider Hector Arana Sr. fouled at the start. In the semi-finals, Hines also lost to Angie Smith. Smith ran 0.003/6.896 to better the 0.067/6.862 pass posted by Hines. “We struggled with the tune-up on my V-Rod all weekend,” said Hines, “which is puzzling because it was in the 70s here and we ran so well in similar cool air at Englishtown. We got Ed’s bike in a good zone in qualifying but we were still chasing mine today. We’ll just have to
