Aeromach Has Custom Parts For Indian Motorcycles

When Polaris Industries acquired Indian Motorcycle in 2011 the team at Aeromach USA immediately began thinking about new products that could be manufactured. Aeromach is a Charlotte, NC-based manufacturer of billet aluminum motorcycle accessories. It wasn’t until late 2013 that the first all-new motorcycles arrived in dealer showrooms. By November, Paul Aiken, owner of Aeromach, had acquired a Chief Classic and began designing products. “The first thing I noticed on the test ride of the new bike was the lack of a heel shift lever”, Aiken commented, “many riders, especially those coming off Harley-Davidsons were accustomed to shifting up through the gears with their heel.” It wasn’t long before the Aeromach Heel Shifter for Indian Motorcycles was designed and produced in their Charlotte, NC shop. Demand was so high for the part the delivery time stretched to 6 weeks. To meet the demand, a second CNC milling machine was added to produce the parts more quickly. Once the parts are machined they are hand polished and chrome plated, adding 4 weeks to the production time. “We had a waiting list of over 150 heel shifters at one point and we were running them all day long just to meet the demand”, Aiken stated. “It took Indian Motorcycles until August of this year to release their version of the shift lever but demand for the Aeromach version remains high. Ours fits the floorboard better and allows riders more room to move their feet around on the floorboards, we even got an order from an Indian Motorcycle employee because he likes our version better” The 2015 Indian Motorcycle line was recently shown at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and the news is good for Aeromach. In addition to adding a fourth model that can use the heel shifter, Indian also released the 2015

Harley Wrecking Crew Rider Mees Holds Points Lead At Indy

Harley-Davidson® Wrecking Crew rider Jared Mees retained the AMA Pro Grand National Championship points lead with a third-place finish on the Indy Mile at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Aboard the Rogers Racing/Las Vegas H-D/Blue Springs H-D Harley-Davidson® XR750 motorcycle, Mees finished 2.531 seconds behind the winner, Zanotti Racing/Moroneys H-D rider Kenny Coolbeth Jr., and just 0.060 seconds behind second-place Bryan Smith on the Crosley Radios/Villa-Esparza Kawasaki. Harley-Davidson® Screamin’ Eagle® Factory Team rider Brad Baker finished fifth after running as high as second place mid-race. Harley-Davidson® Wrecking Crew rider Nicole Mees finished 16th on the Black Hills Harley Davidson XR750. “All-in-all, a good night for us,” said Baker, the defending AMA Pro Grand National champion. “We qualified well, made the Dash field and ran up front. I got a poor start and had to fight my way back up to the lead pack, and once I got into second place I just couldn’t quite catch Coolbeth’s draft. Once Mees and Jake Johnson got by me I had to go deep into the corners to keep up and used up my tire, and then fell back.” Coolbeth qualified on the pole for the 25-lap main, took the lead on lap four and immediately began to open a gap on the riders battling for second place, including Mees, Baker, and Johnson on the Ramspur Winery/Lloyd Bros Motorsports Ducati. At the half-way point of the race Coolbeth had a 1.262-second lead, and Smith had joined the group racing behind him. By lap 20 Coolbeth’s lead had grown to a commanding 2.50 seconds, and Smith and Mees were racing for second place. Coolbeth crossed the finish line 2.470 seconds ahead of Smith, who nipped Mees for second. Johnson was a distant fourth. “I really thought I had something for the leader,” said Mees, “but I
