Baker Races Factory Harley To Ama Pro Twins Victory At Calistoga

Brad Baker scored his first AMA Pro Grand National Twins win of the season Saturday at the Ramspur Winery Calistoga Speedway half-mile. Baker worked his way up from a second-row start to take the lead mid-race and cruise to a 1.634-second margin of victory. “It has a taken us awhile to put all the pieces together, but we finally got it to click tonight,” said Baker, who is the defending AMA Grand National champion. “It’s been an up-and-down season for both me and the team, but tonight we had a great Harley-Davidson for the main and it seemed like I was the first rider to discover that outside line. Once I got into the lead I was able to really settle into my own pace. It’s amazing to put the Factory Harley back on top of the box, especially after picking off some of the best riders out there.” Harley-Davidson Wrecking Crew rider Jared Mees finished second on the Rogers Racing/Las Vegas H-D/Blue Springs H-D Harley-Davidson® XR750 and reclaimed the series points lead. Mees was trailing Crosley Radios/Villa-Esparza Kawasaki rider Bryan Smith by nine points before the Calistoga race, but Smith was disqualified in the main for failing to acknowledge a black flag and leave the track when his motorcycle started to smoke. Mees now leads Smith by 13 points lead with just one race left on the schedule. “I feel bad for Bryan, who’s a good friend, but that’s racing, like they say,” said Mees. “I had a great start tonight but it seemed like I was the last of the leaders to find that fast line.” Harley-Davidson Wrecking Crew rider Nichole Mees also made the main, and rode her Black Hills Harley Davidson XR750 to a 15th-place finish. Zanotti Racing/Moroneys H-D rider Kenny Coolbeth Jr. put his Harley-Davidson XR750 on the

5- Ball Bagger Project Bike

A High Speed wobble leads to a new concept, Paughco delivers the goods! plan to build a Bagger that would be as wobble free as possible, by using products from our sponsors. First thing we needed was a strong frame that will combine the neck geometry of the FXR chassis with the required bag mounting points of the FLT. A call was put out to Paughco with the request for a FLT frame with 35 degrees of Rake instead of the FLT’s standard 26 degrees. Now Paughco has been building frames for longer than I have been alive so I really wasn’t surprised when I was informed that the Frame I wanted to order was available in their catalog as Part #R147AFLT. Accidental Rebuild Part 2

Sometimes Mickey Mouse is best.  By Scotty Kerekes – Scooter Tramp Scotty. It had been over a month since I’d come to stay with the girl whose trailer resided at a park in the Los Angeles suburbs. Brent, owner of Black Jack Cycles located just down the street, had allowed me to rewire my 1988 FLHT, rebuild its front end, install a new stereo, etc. in his parking lot and for a while that place had become my full time job. That was over now and all that remained was the much smaller repair of installing a new charging system rotor into the primary chain-case. Little could anyone guess that this simple one hour job would turn itself into a complete engine rebuild. CLICK to read….

Andrew, The New Gun on the Block

The Union Worker with a Brass Monkey on His Back. Photos by Markus Cuff, Text by Keith R. Ball. I have a high school partner who sweeps in and out of my life, like every couple of years. I get a phone call; we hook up for 15 minutes, share a few stories, and then he disappears. This time he showed up at the Bikernet.com Headquarters with some shots of a chopped Sportster and a story about a kid he met on the docks. “Would you take a look at his bike?” Larry St. Marie said. “I think maybe he’s talented.” Read more…..

It was a definitely a challenge choosing a winner among so many great entries,” said Garage-Girls marketing coordinator, Sara Liberte. “We want to thank GEICO as well as our other sponsors for their commitment to make this contest possible. Most known for her land speed racing, the second generation of the Klock Werks family, Karlee Cobb, 21, just launched her first design effort at the Tony Hawk Foundation’s “Stand Up for SkateParks” event held in Beverly Hills, CA. Perry Farrell, lead signer of Jane’s Addiction and founder of Lollapalooza, along with wife Etty, won the bidding for the 2014 Triumph T100 desert runner Karlee designed. The Kustom design is based off a 2014 Bonneville T100 donated by Triumph Motorcycles and proudly sports modified and custom made parts by Klock Werks, along with carefully chosen parts from Triumph, British Customs, Joker Machine, Metzeler Tires, Nash Motorcycle Company and Hagon Shocks. Brad Smith of TheFactoryMatch.com flawlessly applied the Custom Paint job. “Our team at Klock Werks did a great job of executing on timeline and budget.” Karlee explained. “It was an honor to work with The Tony Hawk Foundation as they help youth around the world enjoy the benefits of skateboarding and the safety of skate parks. Summit Seat Is Top For Harley Tourers

Summit is the top of the mountain… it is also the latest touring seat in Mustang Motorcycle Seats LLC extensive line-up. Designed exclusively for the 2014 Rushmore from Harley-Davidson®, this seat is the apex of everything we have learned about seat making since 1980. Celebrating the return of the Road Glide and the Road Glide Special to Harley’s lineup, the Rushmore project represents the pinnacle of what a touring bike should be. Pretty high expectations to live up to, but Mustang’s R&D rose to the challenge! “Project Rushmore is more than just another FL for The Motor Company, and the Summit is more than just another seat for an FL series Harley,” says Mustang’s Marketing Director Marilyn Simmons. “The Road Glide has a special place in the pantheon of touring motorcycles… and we think our Summit is pretty special as well. We believe both you and your passenger will experience the peak of comfort with the Summit Super Touring seat.” The one-piece “Super” comfortable touring design provides the rider and passenger with the fullest, most comfortable riding position possible. The 19″ wide Super front bucket sits you 1.75″ further back than the stock seat. The passenger seat is a full 16″ wide and fits perfectly with the OE Rushmore speakers and Tour-Pak. “Of course our version is more comfortable, fits better to compliment the lines of the bike and has a higher quality finish than the factory seat,” says Simmons. “Not to mention we think it looks better, too.” Adding to the comfort level is the optional heating element for the Summit seats. All Mustang heated seats come complete with a wire harness that hooks to the accessory port in front of the battery. This part is energized only when the ignition key is turned on and the accessory toggle

OptiMate6 Model TM181 Automatic Battery Charger

Nothing lasts forever and motorcycle batteries are no exception.   Nothing lasts forever and motorcycle batteries are no exception. The original equipment battery on my 2012 FLD Dyna Switchback had been dragging occasionally, after enduring a couple of summers and bad-ass winters in northern Virginia, plus another sweltering summer in the Conch Republic of south Florida. So I was pissed but not surprised when it barely had enough grunt to fire up my bike for the commute home from work a couple of weeks ago. I charged the battery when I got home, but a subsequent test with a multimeter confirmed my suspicion. The battery was toast. Click to read …..
