Indian Motorcycle And The USO Partner To Support U.S. Troops And Families

Indian Motorcycle just announced a partnership with the United Service Organizations (USO), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing programs, services and live entertainment to the U.S. troops and their families worldwide. Indian Motorcycle joins the USO as an Official Partner, which will help the USO support our nation’s men and women in uniform, throughout every step of their military journey. “Indian Motorcycle has a proud track record of supporting U.S. troops dating back to WWI and WWII,” said Steve Menneto, vice president of motorcycles for Polaris Industries. “Today two great American organizations with a passion for supporting our troops come together to continue that heritage. Our year-long partnership is a celebration of those who currently serve and those who have served our country. We look forward to engaging our dealers, Indian Motorcycle Riders’ Group and celebrity partners of the brand in our work with the USO.” In celebration of this new partnership, Indian Motorcycle will donate $100,000 to the USO in connection with its newly released, limited edition Mark Wahlberg Collection of apparel to the USO in April and May. Launched in February, the 10-piece organic t-shirt line starts at US $34.99 and is available at participating Indian Motorcycle® dealers across the U.S. and Canada and online at Indian Motorcycle® while supplies last. “We are excited to work with Indian Motorcycle and see their enthusiasm for helping America’s men and women in uniform,” said Christy Hartsell, USO vice president of corporate alliances. “A meaningful partnership like this not only helps us provide greater support to the military, but also reminds our troops and their families that the nation they are protecting truly appreciates their service and sacrifices.” The USO will also become the official nonprofit partner of the Indian Motorcycle Riders’ Group (IMRG), allowing Indian Motorcycle riders to partner with local USO

Which Gang Do You Belong To?

A March 25, 2015, story informed the public that anyone who has registered a motorcycle in the United States between 1994 and 2015 has been placed on a classified FBI gang list. The reasoning behind creating such a list is the fact that motorcycle owners are 67 percent more likely to be involved in criminal activity than those who do not own a motorcycle. This is an astonishing revelation of facts, but fortunately the facts are false, as is the claim that such a list in the FBI exists. Or does it? We like to think that our government believes in transparency, but there are things that are absolutely hidden from public scrutiny. Read more.

Sunny skies Bikernet Weekly News for April 2, 2015

Life is nuts as you know, but it’s the simple pleasures we rely on, like that tasty cup of coffee in the morning, the touch of her hand, and the way the sun shines on your metal flake paint job as you cruise along the riverbank to the bar. Maybe governments can’t get along, and bureaucrats want to bury us in regulation, but somehow, we will fight and find freedom, customize shit, have adventures and make every day worthwhile. Get to the news now.

Terry The Tramp S&S EVO Engine Build

An old friend, who I wrote a book about recently, Terry the Tramp, just rebuilt an Evo Engine and we made sure to incorporate some S&S products including the cylinders, the pistons, and the lower end. Plus, it was fitted with an S&S Super E carb. Recently S&S kicked off Viola V-Twin, which fits into this mix. The whole idea of Viola V-Twin is to give independent shops access to the parts they need to service their customer’s bikes easily and readily. Sometimes it’s hard for a non-franchised shop to find quality parts at a reasonable price without access to multiple catalogs and credit lines. Continue reading. Advertisement

The Magnificent Jessica Fife Comes to Bikernet

Artist Extraordinaire Captured by Long Beach Bikers, Rescued It all kicked off at a local shop, McQuiston’s Custom Cycles. We’ve featured Ryan and his gang a couple of times in Cycle Source Magazine. They are as close to the notion of an old school shop as possible, in this age of over regulation and vast and unrelenting technology. Ryan still bangs away on old Triumphs, Ironhead Sportsters, and Shovelheads. He’s been busted by the man, the Port Authority, City Inspectors, Long Beach cops, OSHA, and the EPA. Oh, and building and safety, sorry. I was at his shop interviewing him while welders buzzed, grinders sparked, and the cell phones rang. In the midst of metal dust upheaval stood a tall brunette bombshell painting a fine art skull and rose on the side of a chipped and scratched helmet. She painted with acrylics and brushes in her day-of-the-dead style. I was completely caught off guard. What the hell is a fine artist in skin-tight denims doing here, and what the hell is fine art doing on a motorcycle helmet. We started talking. Continue reading.

Crusher Maverick 2.5˝ Slip-On Mufflers

Maverick 2.5″ Slip-Ons are now available to intensify the classic tone of your Harley-Davidson Dyna, Softail or Sportster. These stylish slip-ons are made by Crusher, the Performance Division of Küryakyn. Unlike most slip-ons for cruisers, the latest addition to Crusher’s flagship Maverick series of performance exhaust products preserves a lean, smooth-flowing appearance from headers through the mufflers for an amazingly clean transition that enhances the traditional staggered-dual exhaust look. The CNC-machined billet aluminum end caps with high-temp matte black ceramic coating, and brushed stainless steel banding with embossed Crusher logo round out the distinct, aggressive design. Made is the USA, Maverick 2.5˝ Slip-Ons are available in premium high-temp matte black ceramic-coated or chrome-plated steel. The mufflers and heat shields will not succumb to discoloration or bluing, the manufacturer says. Maintenance-free, high-flow louvered core baffles help generate a unique, full-bodied exhaust note at wide-open throttle, while offering lower decibel levels at cruising speeds. The cutting-edge styling, potent growl and noticeable jump in performance without intake or header upgrades create an great package at a reasonable price. Chrome or matte black ceramic Maverick 2.5˝ Slip-Ons are available for ’91-’15 Dynas (except FLD and FXDL), most ’07-’15 Softails*, and all ’04-’15 Sportster models.
