Avon Offers Cobra Gl 1800 Tire Combination

By | General Posts

Specially designed for the Honda Gold Wing 1800, the Cobra GL 1800 tires from Avon Motorcycle Tyres are the perfect choice for the rigorous demands of the powerful launches, fast acceleration, hard cornering and hard braking of this powerful bike.

When compared to the stock tires, the Cobra GL 1800 rear tire offers an increased load index of 80 to handle nearly 1,000 pounds. A triple compound, including a longer lasting compound in the center, softer shoulder compound for improved grip and cornering performance, and a third compound underneath, work together to reduce tire temperature and increase mileage. This six-ply tire includes two Aramid belts and a nylon belt to reinforce and stabilize the tire carcass, reduce tire flex under heavier loads, and provide a more comfortable ride. Force Following Grooves transmit energy across the surface of the tire for even wear and longer life.

“It’s important to use a model-specific tire for the Honda Gold Wing 1800 because this bike places rigorous demands on the tires,” stated Sukoshi Fahey, Sales & Marketing Manager, Avon Tyres. “This bike is fast and powerful. The Cobra GL 1800 tires have been developed with big, solid blocks of rubber to resist irregular wear, the elimination of the center groove for better handling in the wet and on irregular surfaces, and an increased load index for the rear tire.”

The Cobra GL 1800 tires are available in size 130/70R18 (#90000001167) front, and size 180/60R16 (#90000001418) rear. Both include the popular Cobra snakeskin effect sidewall for the ultimate style. Continental Tires Recalling 1,700 Tires Commonly Used With Honda Gold Wing Motorcycles

By | General Posts

Honda Power Sports touts the Honda Gold Wing touring motorcycle as a bike that “can make your riding dreams come true” as it represents the height of luxury to enthusiasts looking to combine their loves of riding with long-distance travels. From comfortable seating for two to high end technological spoils that include XM radio, iPod docking and a navigation system, the Gold Wing touring cycle really packs everything in to make the $23,000 retail price worthwhile. However, as with any vehicle in any price range, the Gold Wing is only as good as the tires that it rides on, and some riders are about to have their vacations cut short.

Continental Tire has announced the voluntary recall of approximately 1,700 ContiMotion MC tires that are most commonly used for the rear wheels of the Honda Gold Wing 1800 touring motorcycle. While the company has received no reports of accidents or injuries as of yet, according to the Auto Channel, Continental has received some feedback that these tires could become susceptible to cracking, uneven wear and belt lift caused by under-inflation and overloading the rear storage compartment on the Gold Wing. Any of those conditions could ultimately lead to tread separation, dangerous accidents and injuries while the motorcycle is being operated.

Custom Cycle Engineering Goes To V-Twin Expo

By | General Posts

If you are a dealer and are attending this year's V-Twin Expo in Cinci, make sure to stop by the new Custom Cycle Engineering Booth. You will find CCE and their friendly staff at booth 670

Check this out, Custom Cycle Engineering will be presenting an all-new product you don't want to miss. The Steering Damper for All FLH Models. Custom Cycle Engineering has developed a Steering Damper system for the Harley Dresser models. Custom designed clamps and brackets position a Shindy Steering Stablizer in the optimum location so the damper can be installed with minimum effort.  The installation of the Steering Damper stabilizes the front fork and helps with front end wobble.

Two systems are available.  The first style is mounted parallel to the frame and only requires a slight relocation of the horn (brackets provided).  The second system is mounted perpendicular to the frame and is located in a less conspicuous location.  The perpendicular system requires the elimination of the stainless steel “Cow Bells” and the installation of rubber “accordion” fork boots.  The perpendicular steering damper also facilitates the use of a fork truss or brace for maximum fork stability.
