Being BMX racers and fans, who could forget the Kimtab. Originally sold by Roland’s dad in the 80’s for motorcycles, it was fitting to bring the Kimtab to the future and make it out of high quality forged billet aluminum with signature RSD detailing. The Hutch relives those glory days without the swap meet searches and the questionable safety of vintage cast wheels. Designed with weight savings in mind for a light, reliable and high quality wheel with enough funk to turn out any race chopper. More info here.

Performance Machine Offers ABS Sensor Plate for PM Big Wheels

Want to run a big front wheel on your 2014-2015 FL model? Are you concerned the larger diameter is going to trigger an ABS warning light and DTC (diagnostic trouble code)? If you purchase a Performance Machine wheel, you can now set your worries aside. After extensive R&D, the PM engineering team has successfully developed a solution to the ABS code dilemma in the form of a new Calibrated ABS Sensor Plate. It allows the stock front wheel on the H-D touring models to be replaced with the popular big wheel sizes and be compatible with the H-D ABS system even if you retain the stock rear wheel and tire! These larger diameter wheels include the 21×3.5, 23×3.5, 26×3.5, and the monster 30×4.0!! Prior to the development of the PM Calibrated ABS Sensor Plate, installing a 21×3.5 wheel on the 2014-2015 H-D touring models required the additional purchase of specific rear wheel sizes with specific rear tire sizes to maintain factory ratios or the H-D computer would generate an ABS error code (DTC) indicating the system was not operating properly. On front wheel diameters greater than 21×3.5, there was no way to avoid triggering the ABS error code. The new PM ABS Sensor Plates recalibrate the front to rear wheel size ratio back to factory specifications allowing proper ABS functions and the elimination of ABS sensor codes. This technology comes standard at no extra cost on all of Performance Machine big wheels from now on. Advertisement

Motorcycle license bill passes Legislature In Alabama

Alabamians will need to have a motorcycle classification on their license, and take a written exam or safety course, under a bill that has passed the state Legislature. “It will make sure that those who are riding motorcycles are qualified and know enough about motorcycle safety,” said Rep. Phillip Pettus, R-Greenhill. Alabama is the only state that doesn’t require a specific motorcycle license.   Pettus’ House Bill 212 now goes to the governor for his signature. Currently, only motorcyclists age 14 and 15 have to take a written test and get the M classification. Those older than that may get the classification, but don’t have to. Motorcyclists who already have the M classification will be grandfathered in. The law will become effective Jan. 1. Law enforcement will then be able to issue tickets to motorcyclists who don’t have the M classification. The bill also allows drivers to complete a safety course instead of the written test. There’s a $5 fee for the written test.

The BDL, GMA, Jamar Story

Belt Drives Ltd. is just about synonymous with belt drives themselves and it’s been that way ever since Steve Yetzke opened the doors and incorporated the name back in 1990. The company is now one of the largest suppliers of primary and final drive belts in the aftermarket. But the BDL group of companies is growing well past the design and production of those iconic belt drives. All of this fits right in with Yetzke‘s business and life plan. “One of the first machine-shop businesses I had, way back at the beginning,” he says, “pictured boats, hot rods, Harleys and off-road racers on the brochures. All the toys with explosive performance fun across the board.” “That was the ultimate goal way back when,” Yetzke said, “to be involved in them all.” He’s living that dream right now. Keep reading.
