A Minimalist Riding Jacket For Women From RSD

Roland Sands Designs makes a bold statement in women’s riding gear with the intentionally understated Quinn leather jacket. The Quinn features a host of hidden features and subtle technical enhancements that take it from the realm of fashion wear to real riding gear. “Women don’t necessarily want to look like a MotoGP racer but they want to be comfortable on the bike and look good” says Roland Sands, the former racer who has worn plenty of roadracing leathers in his day. “But make no mistake, this is a performance-fit riding jacket, not a fashion accessory.” The Quinn jacket combines rotated, pre-curved sleeves and dropped back length with an aggressive riding fit. “You will fall in love with the soft and supple top grain leather,” he adds. Unlike stiff race wear, the Quinn forms to your body and provides an ease in movement like you won’t find in an average riding jacket. “Combine all this with our silky satin poly lining, perforated leather panel sleeve inserts and you have a jacket that is just as comfortable and sexy on or off your bike.” RSD’s standard attention to detail means power stretch shoulder panels for ease of motion, a relaxed collar opening and zip close cuffs. Zippered panels at the waist enable the Quinn to conform to the curves for a custom-tailored look off the bike, while armor-ready pockets in the shoulders, elbow and back make it ready for action when you are on the bike.   Available in Black and Tan, MSRP: $550

The Love Might Be Over But Its Charitable Work Will Go On

While we have officially ended the Love Ride’s 30+ year motorcycle charity ride and huge concert, the LOVE RIDE FOUNDATION itself will continue to forward charitable causes for underprivileged children and US veterans in the near future.  I came to this decision after an endless stream of personal letters and emails asking me to at least keep the pilot light on, if not the full blaze of the Love Ride. So I thank you for reminding me of the importance of why we started this all 32 years ago. To help others. We plan to take 2016 off and regroup in 2017 for a yet to be announced activity of some sort. So stay tuned for further announcements. Again, it won’t be the Love Ride charity ride and huge concert. It will be a LOVE RIDE FOUNDATON sponsored event of some sort to help those in need, which is the true spirit and camaraderie that brought me to the motorcycle community in the first place. In closing, I am deeply grateful for your friendship and support to date. You can find me at Glendale Harley-Davidson or spending time with my many Grandchildren. Feel free to reach out with any suggestions or ideas to oliver@loveride.org Safe travels, Oliver Shokouh Chairman and Founder, the Love Ride Foundation Love Ride Foundation 3717 San Fernando Road Glendale, CA 91204 USA (818) 246-5618

ST. PATRICK’S DAY BIKERNET NEWS for March 17, 2016

Hey, I’ve noticed and was challenged by a trend of late. I spotted shops selling their wares using words like culture, markets, millennia, art, and such. There’s something strange about those words to some of us old bikers. We were in the game because we loved it, found the romance, adventure, and intrigue in the middle of the night slipping between cops, girl’s apartments, and … Hell, we didn’t care about making money. We just did our thing, and hoped we had enough change in our pockets at the end of the week for some weed, whiskey, women, and chrome. Speaking of adventures. I’m getting that buzz again as we loaded my van with our Salt Torpedo, 5-Ball Racing, streamlined trike parts and start the trek to Paughco, in Carson City, about a frame. Shortly the reports will be flying. – This Week We Have News from Daytona, Missing Birds, Alligators, Wild Choppers, Wicked Women, and Whiskey. and you can read it all here.

BIKERNET TECH: Latest Motherwell Fender Rack Installed

This started with a couple of notions. The Triking Viking, who road tests lots of bikes, wanted to take my 2014 Indian for an Iron Butt ride, but needed a luggage rack. He removed my rear passenger pillion and raved about the rear fender. “Completely changed the look of the bike,” said the Triking Viking from a mountain cave outside Copenhagen. Read the rest here.

Bikenet Travel Report: Thailand Run

So we land in Bangkok airport, Johnny the driver picks us up to take us out to Pattaya…our home base for the Thailand experience. The guys we are meeting up with are expat Aussies, so they all have Harleys to ride. I have to hire a bike from a rental place, so I end up with a Honda…it is kind of hard to get a big bike in Thailand, and if you can, it is expensive. The traffic at first impression, seems like bedlam…but it works. Just go…hesitation is not key here. Head out North and once we get past the city traffic of Bangkok, well, the roads here are amazing. I can’t believe how good. – Read more on the Pattaya Bikeweek and much more here.

BIKERNET FEATURE: The Merc Motorcycle

Do you know brothers who bought rigid frames and engines ten years ago and they still collect dust in the back of garages? Hopefully this story will make a bunch of guys feel better, and empower them to get off the dime and peel down the road with a completed scooter. The man behind this project entered the motorcycle industry in 1977. While going to school, Tom became a member and ultimately president of the oldest motorcycle club in the world and rode all over the East Coast and New England. He worked for corporate America, Black and Decker, with an engineering degree, making strong coin and relaxed at night. He worked his way into management and marketing, expanding his business acumen. Then the Two-Wheeled Entrepreneurial Wizard touched his shoulder with a sparkling emerald gleam in his eyes and chrome twisted spokes in his hair and said, “Son, a man is only happy when he fulfills his motorcycle dreams and does what he loves,” and then he winked. – Read the rest here.
