Pre Orders Sell Out In 10 Minutes for Indian Motorcycle Jack Daniels Limited Edition

Just a week ago, Indian Motorcycle dealers began accepting pre-order deposits for the company’s recently unveiled Limited-Edition Jack Daniel’s Indian Chieftain. By 12:10 p.m. Eastern, pre-order capacity of 100 units was filled. The new limited-edition offering is the latest collaboration between America’s first motorcycle company and the iconic Tennessee whiskey distillery. In 2016, the collaboration produced a Limited-Edition Jack Daniel’s Indian Springfield and Indian Chief Vintage with pre-order capacity of 150 units filled in merely 8 hours. This year it only took 10 minutes. “This overwhelming level of demand is an incredible testament to the power of these two iconic American brands,” said Steve Menneto, President of Motorcycles for Polaris Industries. “Without a doubt, this brand collaboration and motorcycle are tapping directly into a deep sense of patriotism and American pride. We couldn’t be prouder to be a part of it.” The custom-inspired Chieftain marks the second year the two iconic American trailblazers have collaborated to design and manufacture what is ultimately a unique V-twin-powered celebration of American craftsmanship. Both brands have long shared a mutual commitment to independence, originality, and ingenuity. Ultimately, that’s what the resulting limited-edition Jack Daniel’s Indian Chieftain represents. Based on the consumer response, it’s clear that these brands, and the principles they stand for, deeply resonate with American motorcyclists. “Last year, we were blown away when we filled order capacity in eight hours. Clearly, we have tapped into something truly special, but to fill pre-order to capacity in 10 minutes is nothing short of incredible, “said Dave Stang, Director of Events and Sponsorships for Jack Daniel’s. “Ultimately, it’s critical to us that our partnered responsibility message of “Bottles & Throttles Don’t Mix” is heard as loud and clear as the roar of the 111” V-Twin motor that powers these Indian Chieftains. These incredible bikes are […]

Krawiec Defeats Hines in All-Harley Final Round At NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle Opener In Gainesville

The Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines drag racing team dominated the opening round of the 2017 Pro Stock Motorcycle series at the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals. Screamin’ Eagle teammates Ed Krawiec and Andrew Hines tore through the field in Sunday eliminations to meet in an all-Harley final. Krawiec defeated Hines to take the win and the first points lead of the season. “This weekend put the real potential of these Harley-Davidson drag bikes on display,” said Krawiec, who has now won five times at the Gatornationals, a record for Pro Stock Motorcycle competitors. “We have found a real sweet spot in the tune-up.” The Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines bikes were quick off the truck at Gainesville, with Krawiec pacing the field in Friday qualifying before being bumped to the number two position on Saturday, with a best elapsed time (ET) of 6.791 seconds. In the third round of qualifying on Saturday Krawiec also tied the national class Top Speed record as his Harley-Davidson drag bike put down a blistering pass at 199.88 mph. Hines qualified fourth with a 6.793-second run. The crowd for Sunday eliminations included a number of Harley-Davidson fans hosted by Gainesville H-D in the first Ride to the Races program of the season. Krawiec and Hines each scored three wins in elimination rounds to advance to the final. The Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines team worked all day to adjust chassis set-up to accommodate strong winds blowing across the track. Krawiec improved his ET performance in each round and in the final posted the quickest Pro Stock Motorcycle run of the weekend at 6.763 seconds/199.76 mph to defeat Hines (6.802/197.10). “The run in the final was my straightest pass down the track all day, which is why it was also the quickest,” said Krawiec. “We

Indian Motorcycle Racing Wins American Flat Track Season Opener At Daytona TT

Indian Motorcycle rider Jared Mees took top honors at the Daytona TT American Flat Track season opener. Mees’ dominating performance was complimented by a 2nd place finish from Indian factory rider and 2016 Grand National Champion Bryan Smith. All eyes were on Indian heading into the season opener after assembling a team featuring three of the sport’s most decorated riders and armed with Indian’s state-of-the-art Scout FTR750. The season-opening victory brought dramatic validation to Indian’s re-entry into the sport, reigniting the historic Indian Motorcycle vs. Harley-Davidson rivalry. “Carrying the torch for the return of one of motorcycle racing’s most iconic and historic brands, makes this victory truly special for me,” said Mees. “We knew we had a special bike this year that would give us a real shot at every race this season, and to start off on top is huge. But this victory isn’t mine alone. The entire team was critical to this victory, and I couldn’t be more optimistic about our prospects for the remainder of the season.” Piloting Indian’s new state-of-the-art Scout FTR 750, Mees finished first and third in the evening’s first two heats. The main event began with Mees taking lead in lap 1 heading into the first turn, and the three-time Grand National Champion never looked back. Meanwhile, Smith ran the majority of the main event in the fifth position before catapulting from fifth to 2nd over the final five laps, joining Mees on the podium. After such an impressive showing by the new Indian ‘Wrecking Crew’ in Daytona, it’s clear that Indian Motorcycle Racing will be a force to be reckoned with in 2017. “With such a storied history of success in flat track racing, it was imperative that Indian bring every possible resource to bear to be successful, and to be atop

Harley vs. Indian Special Petersen Museum Exhibit

As you can imagine the Bikernet Headquarters receives press from all over the world. When I recently received notice of the new Petersen Museum, Harley vs. Indian exhibit, I immediately reached out to my resident antique motorcycle guru, Don Whalen, a master curator. “Are you involved?” I questioned. “Haven’t heard about it,” Don responded and I knew a link was broken somewhere. When it comes to antique motorcycles and exhibits, Don generally doesn’t get left out. A couple of days passed and I received a special notice from Judy Whitson of the TrailBlazers group of historic racers and vintage race motorcycle enthusiasts. This special Harley vs. Indian exhibited needs more bikes. I didn’t mess around. Don made a run to the Richard Bunch collection in San Jose and delivered four pure historic, top of the line examples for this exhibit. Continue reading.
