Willie G Davidson To Receive Lifetime Achievement Award From Sturgis Motorcycle Museum

William G. Davidson has been involved in shaping Harley-Davidson’s identity for over 50 years. The brand has arguably been a huge influence on the motorcycle world and been a big part of how people live the motorcycle experience. Wille G. has had a central role in the H-D adventure, so Harley-Davidson’s Chief Styling Officer Emeritus and Brand Ambassador is set to be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum Hall Of Fame Induction ceremony, August 9, 2017. “Willie G. is not just a brand ambassador for Harley-Davidson, he is an ambassador for biker culture worldwide,” said Myrick Robbins, executive director of the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall Of Fame. “The Museum’s goal is to ‘Honor the Rider’ and Willie G. is the embodiment of motorcycle riding.” Already a pre-2001 member of the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum Hall of Fame, Willie G. was joined by his lovely wife Nancy in the Class of 2010. “Just like Sturgis Rally founders Pearl and Pappy Hoel, Willie G. and Nancy have made a long-term, positive impact on the motorcycle community,” added Robbins. “You could say Willie G. was born with gasoline in his veins.” The son of former Harley-Davidson president, William H. Davidson, and the grandson of one of the original founders, William A. Davidson, he has helped shape the iconic look, sound and feel that have defined Harley-Davidson motorcycles for more than 50 years. Starting in the 1970s, he developed iconic designs which kept Harley-Davidson motorcycles selling while the company completed technological and manufacturing improvements. Throughout his career he developed the bikes that came to define Harley-Davidson, from the XLCR™ Cafe Racer up through the V-Rod™ and the Street Glide™. A Wisconsin native, Willie G. went to The University of Wisconsin for three years before transferring to the Art Center College of Design […]

Freewheeler Trike explored: Re-imagining a Harley-Davidson

Re-imagining a Harley-Davidson Freewheeler, Trike Market in America and the Big Players CLICK TO READ by Ujjwal Dey The 21st century saw the American behemoth Harley-Davidson jump into the Trike bandwagon once more with Tri Glide Ultra Classic which was introduced in 2009. In 2015, they rebranded their Trike model as the Harley-Davidson Freewheeler. Reverse is now a standard feature on Harley Trike. Freewheeler adds hippie style with its mini ape hanger handlebars and bobtail fenders for a low profile. At $34,339 starting price, a TriGlide Ultra is a luxury for those who can afford it. Infotainment on a TriGlide Ultra is five star luxury on wheels. When they go to work on the infotainment system for a Harley-Davidson Touring motorcycle they follow one simple principle – If you’re going to live in the saddle of a top-end touring bike, you deserve better sound than most people have in their living rooms. More sound. Purer sound. Big, full-color touch screens. Switches that are located where you intuitively want them to be and can reach without removing your hands from the grips. Voice activation for your music, phone and GPS. Think of it this way. Back in the day there was nothing wrong with the sound of Johnny crackling out of a dashboard Philco. But what the latest infotainment systems do for your ears, and eyes, is infinitely better. Visit www.BikernetTrikes.com to read the complete article and Specs. <–CLICK HERE

Bikernet Road Stories: THE ADVENTURES OF A BROKEN SHIFTING FORK – Pt 1

Years ago… Early summer was upon us and perfect weather oversaw this journey as the two heavily loaded motorcycles picked their way slowly through the strikingly green forests of one small Virginia highway. Behind my aging Electra Glide Michelle followed on her old Honda Shadow. Five years earlier, having never ridden a motorcycle before, Michelle had paid $700 for that bike, practiced on it for a week, loaded her worldly possessions aboard, then hit the road. She’s been a technically homeless motorcycle vagabond ever since and is the only full time female drifter I know. Most often Michelle travels alone, but on occasion, as was this day, we enjoy the opportunity of riding together for a while. Read the full story here.

S&S Brings MASSIVE Horsepower To Legends Ride’s One-Off Commemorative Low Rider

In honor of the 10th Anniversary of the Buffalo Chip’s Legends Ride S&S Cycle, Inc. is debuting a 165-170 horsepower performance-styled Harley-Davidson Dyna Low Rider custom to be auctioned in support of the milestone event that kicks off in Deadwood, SD on Aug. 7. The fully customized Low Rider, designed to look and feel every bit a “muscle bike,” will be unveiled on Saturday, March 25 at 12:15 p.m. at the Donnie Smith Bike & Car Show in the St. Paul RiverCentre, St. Paul, Minn. As the uncontested aftermarket leader in V-Twin performance parts for almost six decades, S&S Cycle transformed the 2017 club-style chopper into a sleek and stylish beast powered by a T143 Black Edition engine packing 143 cubic inches and 165 horsepower to the wheel. Harnessing that extra horsepower required S&S to upgrade the transmission, clutch and primary work. To clothe the powerful machine, S&S added a Russ Wernimont FXRT style fairing some Dyna Defender bags. The piece de resistance is the hot rod inspired striped paint job, which recalls the wildly popular classic muscle car, the Shelby Cobra. “This incredibly beautiful and powerful bike created by the masters at S&S Cycle will be going up on the auction block at the Legends Ride this August,” said Rod Woodruff, President of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip. “It’s not only a real prize, but its sale will support the Ride, which has so far raised nearly half a million dollars for local charities including South Dakota Special Olympics and the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum. The top bidder is going to ride off on one incredible and unique motorcycle while feeling like a hero for supporting very worthy causes.” To be one of the first to get a look at the 10th Anniversary Legends Ride bike, attend the official unveiling at

Twin Power Has A Life-Saving Program for Dealers and Stock H-D Owners

Shops around the country were super-hard hit when the economy crashed. A bunch dropped out of business, but immediately they started coming back, if only out of garages. Harley-Davidson didn’t help much. They sent a memo to all their dealers cutting the number of aftermarket parts they could carry and forcing dealers not to sell to local shops. In the past, if a local shop needed a stock part, some could work a franchise deal for as little as a 10 percent discount out the back door. Local shops couldn’t make much, if anything, but it was a service to their customers. But recently, and with computer monitoring, the factory could put a complete kibosh on assisting local shops.
