Women On Wheels® – organized in 1982, “is a not-for-profit, international, family-oriented organization that serves to unite all female motorcycle enthusiasts.” Flash forward 37 years and WoW now has 53 Chapters in over 30 States. “Camaraderie, networking and support of women who love the sport is one of the many benefits of WoW membership,” reads its website at www.WomenOnWheels.org.

Betsy Lister of Medford, MA began her riding in 1969, and is an inductee to the Sturgis Hall of Fame. She presented at “ROAR of APPRECIATION” to the WoW Chapters Directors in appreciation of their work promoting safety & awareness aimed at reducing accidents via the Commonwealth’s “Check Twice – Save a Life, Motorcycles are Everywhere” motto, created in 1982 by Bob Doiron, a personal friend before his passing four years ago.

Dennis Palazzo, a 15-year Director of the Massachusetts Motorcyclists Survivor’s Fund, presented a Certificate of Appreciation on it’s behalf and the South Shore’s sister Fund, for all its 20-year support and volunteering of “Bikers Helping Bikers / Riders Helping Riders” charity efforts.

As Massachusetts State Chapter Volunteer Coordinator of the American Motorcyclists Association, and having worked closely over the years with many WoW members on rights, riding, awareness and charitable causes, I presented them with a “Congratulations and Thank You” certificate.

Description
From Max Friz’s R32 of 1923, until the K1600 Grand America 95 years later, every BMW motorcycle has been unique, and many have incorporated unconventional technical solutions. But the road hasn’t always been smooth and BMW has survived many ups and downs.

Synopsis
This new edition of Ian Falloon’s classic book on the history of BMW Motorcycles brings the story right up to date, and now includes all models from 1923 right through to 2019.

Over the past 80 years, BMW motorcycles have provided a unique alternative to those of other manufacturers. Some motorcycles may have been faster, certainly others were cheaper, but with their emphasis on quality and reliability, none have emulated the practicality of a BMW. With its commitment to ease of serviceability, the BMW motorcycle has become the preferred choice for hundreds of thousands of motorcyclists around the world. BMW motorcycles are made to be ridden, and if the journey includes a mixture of straight roads and corners, there is no better motorcycle. Factor in the best range of factory luggage and accessories available, and the success of BMW motorcycles isn’t surprising.

Ownership of a BMW is also generally a long-term affair. Because of long model runs, the designs are so well developed there seems little need to update on the whim of fashion. This is most definitely a refreshing change from the current trend towards instant obsolescence.

Falloon is a prolific author and one of the world’s foremost motorcycle historians with years of experience. His other BMW books include BMW Boxer Twin Bible, BMW R90S, and the Complete Book of BMW Motorcycles.

Additional Information
Period Covered: 1923-2019
Models Covered: All BMW motorcycle models from 1923 up to 2019.
The definitive history of BMW motorcycles.
Covers all road and racing models from 1923.

You know me, I can’t sit still and talk about old times when we’re burnin’ daylight. I had to monkey with the Torpedo exhaust system again. The turn-out was going to be an issue.

Micah and I got together on Monday and hammered at the firewall. We had a long discussion with Drew, who is a Bonneville AMA, and FIM tech. We kicked around the massive fire suppression bottles and whether we need two or one for both compartments.

Trump warms to Harley Davidson, says EU tariffs ‘unfair’

By | General Posts

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump on Tuesday appeared to reverse course on Harley Davidson Inc, saying European tariffs facing the motorcycle manufacturer were “unfair” and vowing to reciprocate, after urging a boycott of the company last year amid a steel spat.

The Wisconsin-based company last year announced plans to move production of its motorcycles destined for the European Union to its overseas facilities from the United States to avoid EU tariffs imposed in response to Trump’s duties on steel and aluminum imports.

Trump retaliated by calling for higher taxes, threatening to lure foreign motorcycles to the United States, and backing a boycott of the iconic American motorcycle maker.

On Tuesday, Trump appeared more sympathetic, calling the EU tariffs “unfair” but giving no other details about any planned U.S. action in a tweet citing comments by a Fox Business Network host.

“So unfair to U.S. We will Reciprocate!” Trump wrote.

On Saturday, Trump is scheduled to travel to Wisconsin to hold a campaign rally as he seeks reelection in the 2020 presidential election.

Representatives for the White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on any planned actions, as both the EU and the United States prepared to launch larger trade talks.

Representatives for Harley Davidson could not be immediately reached for comment on Trump’s tweet.

The company on Tuesday reported quarterly profit that surged past expectations and stuck to its full-year shipment forecasts amid concerns over falling U.S. sales and European import tariffs, sending its shares up 3 percent.
