Gettysburg Bike Week is back in style at the Allstar Events Complex for 2018, and it’ll be celebrating its 17th year with top-flight musical act Jackyl. “They’ve played Gettysburg Bike Week before and absolutely killed,” said event coordinator Kelly Shue. “Getting a quality act like Jackyl booked early puts a spring in an organizer’s step.” Musical festivities kick off on the Budweiser Stage on Thursday night and will continue through the weekend with national headliners each night. Hailing from the great state of Georgia Jackyl will brings its brand of musical mayhem to GBW: Is it hard rock? Heavy metal? Southern rock? It’s all three, so get ready to get down! Gettysburg Bike Week is held at the Allstar Events Complex, and GBW’s official lodging sponsor, the Eisenhower Hotel and Conference Center, is conveniently located right next door. Hey, Hot action everywhere. Robert Pandya should add events to his study list. There are more events on the Calendar for 2018 than ever before. The David Mann Chopperfest in Ventura, California on Super Bowl Sunday was bigger than ever. Easyriders Columbus finals are coming up. Builders recently flew to Japan for Mooneyes. The Colorado Motorcycle expo, which was closed because of a shooting, re-opened and was strong. Hell, Art Hall is back in Thailand for Bike Week and Australian shows are popping up like crazy. Racing is stronger than ever before with Speedway, flat track, Land Speed attempts at Bonneville and Brazil. Shit is happening fast and furious.   The last few years Cleveland Ohio has greeted the hardy motorcycle enthusiast with snow, slush and sub-zero weather. This year the weather gods provided a 3-day reprieve and provided a balmy 50 degrees so motorcyclists attending the Progressive International Motorcycle Show stepped a little lighter and smiled a little brighter. The J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show produced a record number of custom sleds with 46 bikes and builders showcasing their creativity and innovation.   Hey, It’s that day. Guys are setting up at the David Mann Chopper Fest. Some of the brothers rode to Ventura to party in the streets last night. Someone showed me a bag of magic mushrooms and I ran the opposite direction. Some of us are trying to get out to the tattoo exhibit at the Natural History Museum this week. I’m going to roll over to Zach and Susy’s for a Super Bowl party in Long Beach. Zack always has new projects to review either motorcycle or around his building. I started to apply clay to my charity sculpture and it didn’t go well. The clay shrinks as it dries, and separates from the metal. I need to investigate. Damn, this is going to be an exciting year. Hey, This will be a week of reflection and panic over Harley’s Quarterly Report, the Kansas Plant shutdown and the State of the Union Speech. Two things at play here. One is the nature of our media now, since everything is in real-time and negativity seems to be the order of the day. So, most reports are doom and gloom. That’s not the case. The other notion is the fact that everything changes all the time. Companies are forced to navigate changing times, customers, and markets constantly. It’s not a big deal, but it’s the nature of the beast. Bikers are a different breed. We’re going to have fun whether we have money or not.
